    Episode 156.5 - Minisode 156.5

GoFundMe doesn't require a specific end date, nor does it require one to reach their monetary goal like Kickstarter does. Whether you meet the goal or not, you get to keep the funds. It's much better for charity causes in that way.
  2. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ In a generically handsome sort of way I guess? If you can ignore the eyes. Bless this post.
  3. Got it!! Cameron is quite good at providing distractions. It's fine. How could we not praise him?
  4. Sorry to revive this, I know the show is a ways off yet, but my roommate made up some little pins for our meetup, whatever that will be. I wanted to keep them as a surprise, but I'm gonna need to know how many to bring anyway so... if you want one and/or have a buddy/spouse who wants one, lemme know! The "Kumite!" is actually a red foil.
  5. He had more specific predictions in the Bible, so I would think it's closer to possible miracle, but it's not a visual miracle, so it allows people to still be a little skeptical.
  6. I don't have a title suggestion for this, but I will say the title made me expect more than what it actually presented. I suppose with the goofy sounding "superstar" bit, I expected something a lot more upbeat and out there. The only other religious musical I've seen is Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, also by Rice and Webber, so I think I was expecting something a bit more colorful. But yeah, this Jesus is a little bland, miracles or not lol. He had the most tired, saddest puppy dog eyes though! I think my roommate and I inappropriately laughed at that a couple times.
  7. Pff yeah, poor Thomas. I think that leads in to one of my other criticisms for JCS is that we have no real introduction to the Disciples. Like a lot of it is left to the assumption that you already know the story and people involved. It feels like Peter is introduced pretty late too as someone important for us to care about. I mean, I'm guessing since the crew was small, if they really designated 12 people to only be the Disciples, it might make the crowd scenes more awkward when they reuse their cast. I could understand that, but I still felt a little disappointed lol
  8. I would've been amused if they had thrown in the release of Barabbas, but I assume that'd be a bit complicated to set up. For some reason I always felt kind of bad for Pilate. Also recalling that his wife had a dream and warned him to have nothing to do with Jesus. But he had to play his part to keep the peace. I really liked how he was portrayed in this. I saw Tommy as a stage play back in junior high and I don't remember anything besides the line "That deaf, dumb and blind kid, sure plays a mean pinball". Can't decide if I really want to revisit it sometime lol
  9. This is kind of the same for me. For a feature that is presented all with song, a lot of the songs seemed to not really follow an identifiable tune for me. There were some that were a little catchy, but not much that really resonated or stuck with me. That said, a lot of the vocal talent was really good. I rather enjoyed Mary Magdalene's voice. Can I say it also seemed odd that the musical made no mention of the resurrection? I mean, I know the story didn't go that far, but it was something I kept expecting that just never happened lol

  11. I've gotta run out shortly, but just to mention a few things that I really liked about JCS... The location was absolutely amazing! I loved the setting and how they used it when setting up the scenes, especially their use of foreground and background in the same shots. It was really beautiful. And bless them all for working so hard to use the location despite the fact it was obviously hot and uncomfortable. (I swear every time Herod appeared he looked more sunburnt than the last). My favorite scene tbh is when Jesus comes across the market in the temple and starts flipping tables, because it has been 100% my mental image of that story and idk, this loving, patient man losing his cool really speaks loudly of the situation. Overall I'm glad I watched it, and I really meant to pull out my Bible and go over some of the parts covered to do better comparisons, but I haven't taken the time yet. I'll get more into some other points and criticisms later.

    Musical Mondays Off-Week 5 (Cam Bert's Pick)

So a little story as I just got off the phone with my parents. I mentioned we watched JCS and they had gone tonight to see Ben Vereen in concert. Ben Vereen played Judas from '71-'73 on Broadway. He told the audience the story of when he auditioned for the role, saying he spent all day going over a song in his head that he was going to sing. When he finally got on stage for his audition, a man in the audience said he would play the music for him and went to the piano, sat down and started playing. But the tune was one Vereen didn't recognize, so he turned to the man and said, "That's the wrong song." The pianist was Andrew Lloyd Webber. According to Vereen, even though he got the role, they didn't speak to each other for about 10 years after that. So my parents say anyway lol

I love how right before he dies the guy just does this little shrug like "eh, I guess".

    Episode 156.5 - Minisode 156.5

Listened to the minisode at work this morning to help drown out the.... wonderful country music on the overhead. I am a bit amazed at all the crossover theories, and while, yeah, it's a bit excessive at this point, I'd love to see someone combine ALL of them together. But anyway... I'm pretty excited for Surf Ninjas. I'm pretty damn sure I watched the movie more than once when it came out on VHS, but I don't remember a single thing about it. I certainly didn't know who Leslie Nielsen was when I saw it. Definitely looking forward to revisiting this piece of garbage. My biggest question currently being... do they address that ninjas are a Japanese thing in this Chinese?? Vietnamese?? island tale? What. Don't spoil it for me!

    Musical Mondays Off-Week 5 (Cam Bert's Pick)

I was telling my roommate about JCS and she wanted to see it too, so she uh... found a better copy for us to watch, which was good since the crappy youtube vid cut out the whole opening bus scene. But yeah! We watched it! I can finally participate in MM!!
  18. Good thing his name doesn't start with a K...

    Musical Mondays Off-Week 5 (Cam Bert's Pick)

Started watching JCS (from that crappy youtube vid lol), but I need to stop to work on some stuff. About 20 mins in; it's interesting so far! Paused too because I remembered I needed to put in time off requests from work, but it's not letting me request days off the Austin show. Too early still...

That is simply amazing. I love. I grew up in a family that never swore when I was a kid (and still rarely does). But I had some neighborhood friends who'd come over to play and if they swore, my mom would kick them out. She ended up training them well enough that when they swore, they would kick themselves out.
  21. Oh my goood that was amazing lol Someone please gif this? Those expressions are priceless! EDIT: I was gonna share that show with my roommate, but she's seen it already. She is a better fan than I.

    Episode 146 - Dreamcatcher

I was thinking of this movie the other day as I saw my roommate's dad sitting on the sofa with an open jar of peanut butter and a knife and I DID NOT DARE to ask if he was double-dipping. I kept on walking.

I don't think I've ever seen this one... I really want to watch. Ffff...
  24. Have not watched the movie, but the episode was indeed a joy to listen to. Wow, what a mess! I think the theater-going stories were my favorite tbh. Totally amused at Jason getting hushed; I'd probably be laughing at that movie too. That interview clip was so damn creepy, like I was scared for the lady interviewing him. Tone it down, Diesel! Not appropriate! June getting angry at those bizarre song video clips made my day too. I was trying to work on a drawing and some of my lines turned out shaky because I was laughing too much omg Great episode overall!!
