    Episode 207.5 - Minisode 207.5

I noticed that too! I thought that was a very good example!! I'm backing #Justice4Cameron as well!
  2. I did get to finish listening to the episode this morning. I don't know why, but for some reason I thought the sky-plank that Falco and Publius fell from was an outcropping to redirect water off the building, but I have no idea if that's what it really was or if it fits that style of architecture. Also... where was that place?? It was overlooking a city obviously, but what city? Also was it the same place where Tiberius was holding Lucius? Because I don't remember any high cliffs around where Huo An infiltrated Tiberius' place, nor do I recall seeing any during the final battle. Where the hell was ANYTHING in relation to anything else?? There's absolutely no sense of distance or travel time. Also I feel like there might have been a bigger punch for Yin Po's betrayal if he had actually been introduced to us prior to the betrayal. I still don't know who he was. This movie's storytelling is just... not there. It's like when someone is telling you some long-winded story about something that happened to them, but they forget details and just try to shove them in randomly as they remember them. I guess the slo-mo would be the story's 'uhh's and 'umm's.
  3. Haaa! I saw that a loong time ago. My dad has it on VHS. I've been wanting to add it to my collection, but it hasn't happened yet. (I think I'm missing about 11 films.)
  4. Oh man, so I was so excited to hear that HDTGM was doing a JACKIE CHAN movie, as I've been working on collecting his films. Except my problem was I didn't have this one. So I called my local CD Exchange to ask for it, and immediately was asked if I listen to HDTGM lmao. And then the copy I picked up didn't work, and I finally got a working copy today and watched it and... I dunno, I've seen worse Jackie Chan films. The worst for me was the stupid clunky slo-mo and the terrible use of flashbacks. Like some of those flashbacks just being a 4 second view of Adrian Brody sitting?? Okay??? (Actually anytime Brody was on screen I could not stop thinking about Brodyquest) I only had time to listen to half the episode so far, I'll have to finish it tomorrow, but so far it's been an enjoyable listen. Small correction though, someone said that during the final battle the falcons came with the Parthians, but they actually were brought by the Han Chinese. Moon's group had one at the beginning of the film when she fought Huo An and lost her veil. It was definitely a Birdemic amount of birds that didn't seem to relate to the amount of falconers. Also I'm pretty sure the reason Moon "gives herself" to Huo An is because her face was revealed to him when the veil was lost. I have no idea if there's any actual cultural traditions from ancient China that supports that sort of thing, but it feels like something I've seen in Jackie Chan films before, as well as other Eastern media. It seems pretty bizarre from a Western perspective though. And just to be a show off, here's my current Jackie Chan collection (no, I've not watched them all)
  5. I have seen a baby start bawling for no reason other than because my dad had a goatee, and let's face it, Jason has a LOT of facial hair.
  6. If it existed, it would be "I Hate Math Monthly". (I'm not an actual accountant.)
  7. Appropriately I listened to this episode while doing basic accounting work at my store. I didn't watch the film before listening. I do clearly remember renting all three of the movies on VHS as a kid. I recall feeling uncomfortable at fertilization stuff, but otherwise I remember nothing about any of them. I feel like that might not be unfortunate though.

    Episode 196.5 - Minisode 196.5

I think you mean, "A-one, a-two, a-one, two, three, fuh" Sad to hear the new album is not great. I'll probably pass on that one. Also, does anyone mind telling me what film the next ep is covering? I've been too busy to listen these past couple weeks. Hoping I get some down time soon...
  9. Aghhhh, I've never seen Enchanted, but I've always wanted to. And I'm deep into con prep this week and next, so I don't think I'm gonna get a chance to watch this. Nnoooooooooooooooooooo!! I am still going to try to keep up the spreadsheet list, so I'll plug that too if anyone new wants to catch up on the old discussion threads Musical Mondays Google Spreadsheet

Musical Mondays Week 45 Oliver & Company

I love Tug of War and Flaming Pie. I feel like I really need to get Ram sometime. My roommate got me the re-release of Flowers in the Dirt and I was enjoying that, but haven't listened to it that much yet to really have a strong opinion. I have a few of his albums after Flaming Pie, but I think even with those there's just a couple songs that I really like, and the rest I'm a little eh about.

May I ask what your fave McCartney albums are?

Musical Mondays Week 45 Oliver & Company

Paulie, why... Also, um... shouldn't it be "INCOMPLETE Lyric Video"? Let's get it right. (I promise I'll post a pic of our cats, once I stop being lazy and get the pics off my phone.)

Musical Mondays Week 45 Oliver & Company

We have three cats, a tuxedo, a black cat, and then some mixed up fat faced thing that cries like a kitten despite being the biggest of the three. I'll try to get pics later.

    Episode 194.5 - Minisode 194.5

It looks like it's fine on Stitcher, but Soundcloud still has the static.

    Episode 194.5 - Minisode 194.5

I thought about that too, but they did do a review on that movie on their youtube channel, so it doesn't make sense to me...

Musical Mondays Week 45 Oliver & Company

Also, can I say I'm still sad that Rita's song "Streets of Gold" is not in the movie in full? There's a whole other verse, but it's more about about stealing, so I wonder if that's why it was cut.

Musical Mondays Week 45 Oliver & Company

I've seen this multiple times over the years, and I was still ready to cry during that opening song. Also because it's personalized and Huey Lewis is singing directly TO Oliver. I ended up watching this twice over the weekend (because my roommate wanted to see it too). I agree that the animation seems inconsistent. Especially during Georgette's song, where her movements and expressions are much more exaggerated and cartoony than almost everything else in the movie. I still love this film though lol

    Episode 194.5 - Minisode 194.5

To turn this back to positives, I want to say I enjoy the Ask Paul segments when it covers life advice. As someone who is also dissatisfied with my job, I don't know if I can get away with not caring, but I'll try to keep it in mind when things start getting to me.

    Episode 194.5 - Minisode 194.5

Yikes, yeah, the Movie Bitches review is just static. I was not ready for that to hit my ears. I hope it can be fixed... But yay! My first win!!
  20. I get called "Lea" a lot. I'm guessing people think "Jammer" is a title instead of the stupid nickname I gave myself online 20 years ago I think I'm gonna watch Oliver and Company tonight, I should have enough time. I will be singing along to everything.

Episode 194 - Yes, Giorgio: LIVE!

Hey look, I drew a ball on a bigger ball chasing a ball. While looking up references for this, I did find pictures on google of Pavarotti playing tennis. But he was wearing the same outfit in all of them, so I can only confirm he's played at least one game of tennis outside of this movie.
  22. Tomorrow we're going to the library and I debated picking up Oliver Twist, because I haven't read it since 10th grade, but idk I might stick to something more fun to read lol (sorry, Dickens). I know this film deviates a LOT from the source material, but I still love the Disney version. Also, here's the original McD's Happy Meal commercial for the Oliver & Co finger puppets. Just to get you excited for this delightful story about orphans, organized crime, child labor, and kidnapping.
  23. Sorry, was out of the house for a while. I've been having a rough time recently with stress and my health, so I'm not picking anything amazing, but an old favorite of mine for comfort. I hope no one minds. Welcome to my childhood.

Episode 194 - Yes, Giorgio: LIVE!

I felt really bad for these two characters, but on the other hand, I paid more attention to them than anyone else in this film. They were the only ones I that really felt like characters to me and were relatable from a customer service standpoint. There's always that one person who makes ridiculous requests. I also was concerned that the food fight took place in their kitchen, in which case I was ready to throw down for them. I only sort of paid attention, but it seemed after that show, when Giorgio is just hanging out with people, he suddenly decides that HE wants to cook for EVERYONE. And that's the other thing that drove me nuts. This is a large crowd, and two people cooking for them seems like way too little to get that much food ready in a reasonable amount of time. But then they proceed to ruin as much of the food as possible with their stupid food fight and I'm just like... you STILL have people WAITING FOR FOOD out there! Again, maybe this is my customer service background, but WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING??? The manager already told them the guests were getting restless with hunger. Now they're going to be at the least incredibly disappointed, and at the most very very angry. Just... I don't know... get catering... order some pizzas... something more reliable than two people whose special skills do not seem to include cooking at any other point in the movie.

Episode 194 - Yes, Giorgio: LIVE!

Just finished listening to the episode, but I'm at work, so I'm only going to add a short thing right now... I looked up a few articles and apparently in Italy seeing nuns themselves is bad luck for being associated with hospitals and cemeteries, and after seeing/passing one you're supposed to touch steel or tell the next person you see "Suora tua" ("Your nun") to pass off the bad luck. I'm not sure how that relates to Giorgio stopping to help the mother superior, but Giorgio is definitely superstitious.
