That was such a good episode; I'd love to hear more of Jason's thoughts on Fallout 4 and what paths he chose. This weekend I'm going to watch some no-commentary longplays of The Last of Us/Left Behind/Part II. They fall into the category of games I'd love to play but understand I am not great at playing. -

Yes! Please sign up if you're thinking about it/could use a few extra bucks! It's so important! I'm signed up for my state as a laptop operator and guys, it's the easiest job. And believe me, if someone with anxiety, ASD, and ADHD is telling you it's a breeze, it'll be like an ultra mega Geostorm breeze for ya. Do it! -
I love this dumb movie. Used to make cup noodles and watch it almost every afternoon when it premiered on Encore or Starz or whatever. I think they'd have fun with it.

Episode 247 - 2:22 (Live in Portland)

I hated this movie, but I did wonder about Dylan's downstairs neighbor. Between the Olympic rings, glass partition smashing, and all manner of ranting and raving, that must have been rough stuff. -
Man, the gamer stigma of the past is so weird to me, I'm retroactively bummed for your experience. Growing up, pretty much every kid played video games, and if they didn't have a home console they'd play at a friend's house who did. During downtime in class, Nintendo Power and other gaming mags were freely passed around. There was a waiting list to play Oregon Trail on the few computers our elementary school had. I don't recall any adults ever chiding us for playing games. My father enjoyed playing Zelda, and my mother enjoyed watching my brother and I play. She still brings up how funny it was listening to me play GTA III while she was on the computer. The only criticism I recall from them was not to waste money at the arcade on a game if they could buy it for our Nintendo. I could never get a perfect alignment during the matching mini-game in SMB3. Either the bottoms or the middles would always be off. I'm still bitter about it.

Love this dumb movie, hope it's covered sometime soon.

Extra Ordinary (2020): A surprisingly charming horror/rom-com that’s one of the most entertaining films from this year!

That's super rad (and I'm a teensy bit jealous). -

Seconded, this movie was really cute. -
They definitely need a lot of individual and joint therapy and counseling, and even then with work put in, there's still the potential for feelings to fizzle out naturally. It doesn't look good.

Because he's an attractive white guy that's not Chip or a serial mangler, which is all Denny deserves I guess?
-
I assumed he either stole them or used the stolen American Express/checkbook to buy them.

Anything coming out of my tap is basically lava for the next two months, so I would gladly welcome an ice cold shower.
-
YES. I was sitting here like, what the hell kind of best friend doesn't know when it's your birthday? And what the hell other kind of best friend doesn't invite you to their party? That's not best friendship, that's weird mutualism.

Poll: (a) Do you prefer practical effects or CGI? (b) Do you think cocaine helped create memorable action films?

Practical. I'm happiest with CGI when it's used sparingly. -
Episode 240: Megaforce LIVE from Montreal!

So this is more of a personal revelation than a C&O. I went into this movie pretty cold, I knew about the flying motorcycle scene but not much else. Much like with Fateful Findings, I spent the first fifteen minutes with major déjà vu before pausing to confirm my suspicions that this was indeed filmed in Southern Nevada. And then the end battle happened, and holy shit, this was filmed in my backyard (so to speak). No wonder we have trouble keeping a garden. -
I think teen(?) neighbor was just a fan of Deebs' work and stoked that he was living/lived next door. Her taking any excuse to go over and see him/hang out with him was pretty on-brand for being a teenage girl and meeting someone you admire. The mom was just being a good parent and humoring her in going over there when Deebs and Holli return from Cool World, then probably gave her daughter an earful when they got home about hanging around weirdos. Can relate from personal experience.
-
Ah yes, thank you! I'll have to remember to disable it in the future.

On Paul's thought that the casino/gambling hall in the open could have been Vegas's first, it just might be? There were illegal gambling halls all over Nevada decades prior, but if where it's located in the 40s is supposed to have some correlation to Deeb's house in the 90s, I think the building could have been the Northern Club, which was the first to receive a gaming license. It's fudging things by a few blocks though, and that may be giving this movie way too much credit. They probably just had Harris materialize in the last place Deebs/the multi-verse rift was/the easiest set to film in.

I have no idea how I keep making my replies so janky. I don't know what it says about me that (I think?) I understand this messy movie. So Cool World is an alternate dimension, Deebs didn't create any of it. They make mention a few times that Cool World has always existed and that humans have passed through it very briefly. We also see that at least one film from our universe has made it into Cool World. My assumption is that this happens after Doc Whiskers opens the dimensional portal into our 1940s and sucks Harris in. The rift between dimensions is now tenuous and certain individuals- the movie doesn't explain but let's just say through dreams or comas or mental breaks or some unknown set of circumstances- can pass briefly between worlds. This is how Deebs is entering Cool World prior to his introduction in the movie. He thinks he's just dreaming up a fantasy world and makes a comic series off of it. Doc Whiskers probably had the sense that beings from each universe cannot come together because it would start the destruction of one or both worlds. Time travel stories all have that rule about not interacting with past or future versions of yourself, I'm not sure if that rule applies to multi-verse stories as well, I don't really read those. At some point after settling Harris into Cool World, Doc Whiskers enters our world as he previously had planned and takes the spike with him. Holli wants to enter the world she's seeing in the film(s) and though Noids; she has all Cool World has to offer and now wants what she can't have. I think she and Deebs start doodling out because they've broken the laws of physics in our universe and can't sustain form. But I'll give you this one; I have no idea if Harris knew he could come back to life as a doodle after being killed by a doodle. That's the only part that doesn't make sense.
