I don't know if that's possible, and if it comes down to it I can probably get someone to loan my their PayPal, so that's just a thought, really.

Is there any way to make donations or purchases using iTunes credit? That and cash are all I have, and I have yet to perfect the mechanism for emailing quarters.

How about some posters? Those can't be too hard to produce, compared to shirts. Also, is there any chance that some sort of system could be mocked up in which some monotary exchanges could be orchestrated using iTunes credit? I ask because I have no other type of online money.

I think Jeff and Scott should guest-judge the final show. It's their network, and they should be a part of the final decision. It'd be very... climatic, I guess. That said, they should also incorporate fan voting into the final call, a la the Harris's Foam corner vote, to pre-emptively cut the legs out from under any assholes tempted to cry conspiracy or what have you. Also because it seems like the fans should have some say as to who the winner is.

  8. Nicely stated, Brian. Seriously, anyone who thinks that this challenge is deliberately fixed or biased needs to take off their tinfoil hat and let the government satellites beam some reason into their heads. Look, I rarely agree with the judges myself. You know what that means? They don't like the same things that I do. Beyond that, there's just no reason why the contest would be fixed. There's no endgame. If Scott and Jeff wanted a specific podcast to win, they would have just signed them up, contest be damned. So maybe the challenges aren't utterly fair. That's life, friends. Someone always gets the short end of the stick. Take a few deep breaths, in through your nose, out through your mouth. Slowly, now. Now let that anger.go. It's not getting you anything. And yes, I think most people would happily refer to crazy homeless people who think they have government chips in their heads as "Conspiracy Theorists". Don't be a dick, Dirk.

  10. I like what Linus noted about people responding angrily in real time as they listen to the show. Well noted. I would recomend that people read through the whole thread before they post anything. When I logged into the forum, I was all geared up to rant about how angry I was, then go smash something. But I'm mortally afraid of being under-informed, so I read the whole thing through. As an added bonus, I had time to cool off, and to realize that doing my best Hulk impression doesn't really make my opinion seem reasonable or interesting. I don't think this episode was nearly as poorly executed as people are making it out to be, fundementally. In fact, I have to give Scott kudos on thinking up a really interesting hook for this week. You guys could have just done a straight up content week, and it might have been a little more fair. But it wouldn't have been interesting. The judges could have used a little more rehersal as to the exact parameters of the challenge, as that would have made things just a little bit cleaner, but that's all it would have done. I really don't think that their understanding of the challenge was so greviously horrible that it substantially affected the outcome. The show is as fundementally strong as it could possibly be; it only needs an occasional extra polish here and there. I personally don't find the Totally Laime podcast to be as engaging as the judges do. Not my thing. I thought that the ironic element in the premise of the LHR sketch was funny, and that they did a great job within their constraints. It was very well balanced in my opinion. TLDDC had an awesome submission, which I think really made the best of the situation and the contest parameters. The fact that the judges weren't in line with all of my opinions proves that they aren't me. Which is too bad, because I'm pretty great. I wish that they had put all three podasts in the "Bottom Three", to have all of them explain why they did what they did. The "Defend Yourself" element seems to be good for giving advice, and it's interesting to hear the contestants comment on their submissions in real time.

  12. I personally find all of the totally laime submissions to be sort of bland, which combined with their frontrunner status made me hate them a little, so when they delivered their first legitimately BAD one this week, I had my fingers crossed for a French-Revolution esqe ending to their winning streak; specifically, cake eating. But, I can live with them skating by based on the fact that other people apparently don't share my thoughts. What I AM pissed about is the fact that Bob and Dan were in the bottom three. That was a solidly entertaining, very witty sketch. Seth Morris had it right when he noted that it was actually one of the funnier ones. Funnier than little dum dums certainly, which I do not say with malevolence; I like their show a lot. I also like their chances for winning, given Besser's somewhat patronizing fascination with the adorability of their accents. They can't trick me though! I've figured out that those aren't really British accents at all!
