I hope everyone uses their angry-energy to go to iTunes, subscribe to Left Handed Radio, and leave it positive reviews. - I, too, was upset with this week's judgement but I really really liked all 3 of the remaining competitors and would have been sad to let any of them go. I listened to Totally Laime before The Challenge, but LHR and LDDC have made their way into my iTunes forever. - Fortunately, as Dave Anthony said, a podcast does NOT need to be on a network to exist or to be absolutely great. If you are upset that LHR won't get the exposure that they would have on Earwolf, I say use that feeling to become LHR's biggest advocate and to tell all your friends about it. Blog about it. Post links on Facebook and Twitter. - Since when has the winner of a reality show been the most successful one to emerge? I think that both Totally Laime and The Little Dum Dum Club would make great additions to Earwolf, but no matter what happens I can still listen to whatever I want.

It only showed how they reacted to being pranked." - ^At this point, all three shows have proven themselves on these grounds. This was a challenge of professionalism. A funny podcast that only comes out every few weeks or whenever the podcasters want to will not be successful. The most successful podcasts are the ones that run on a schedule and adhere to it. There is a DIY/Punk Rock mentality to podcasting, yet everyone knows - Superego and Pod F. Tompkast come out on the first of the month WTF comes out on Mondays and Thursdays CBB, JJGo, MATES, and NNF come out on Mondays DLM comes out on Fridays - I've seen a TON of podcast criticisms online based solely on "This episode was a day late" and the like. My computer was down for a few weeks and I didn't have iTunes to keep be abreast of new podcasts, so the only ones I was able to listen to where the ones whose schedules I remembered. I won't name names, but I can think of several podcasts that have funny hosts and a have been around forever, but haven't gotten any traction because the shows come out sporadically. - While I too disagree with some of the notes from the judges, I don't agree that this challenge is without merit.

@Linus- Your suggestions for what a podcast would could do (Record a best-of, skip a week, etc) doesn't figure in the fact that many podcasts hire producers and interns who will be at a certain place at a certain time and you have to pay them no matter what. Yes, many podcasts are recorded from home by the talent, but look at Maximum Fun shows Never Not Funny Mike and Tom Eat Snacks Pod F. Tompkast WTF with Marc Maron Pop My Culture All those podcasts have paid producers (and sometimes paid studio time) and if a guest cancels, they can't just throw away that money. A few weeks back there was a guestless JJGo because of a last minute guest drop out. I think it's a genuine problem, or else Scott Aukerman himself wouldn't have had the idea.

Great, thanks Matt, NOW WRITE ABOUT IT ON TUMBLR (I'm bummed that you didn't do a Tumblr recap of last week). If you guys don't follow Matt on Tumblr: http://mattlittle.tumblr.com/ He writes really interesting insider recaps each week (except for last week, apparently) that I love. Too bad he didn't do one last week (am I pushing too hard now?).

I've listened to this episode like 5 times now, and "Is that a band just kidding?" still takes me aback and makes me die laughing. I love this episode so hard. "Hmmm, that's interesting."

I appreciate your eloquence, Mark, but I hate your logic. As someone who is equally as confused and frustrated by anonymous bad-mouthing as Matt is, and someone right in the target age range for troll-ism (21), I just can't agree. I don't think that saying mean things online is the same as saying mean things to someone in person. In person you have context, you have security, you are hopefully having an immediate back-and-forth with someone. It's not the same on the internet. Everyone can read what you say and they don't anything about you. If I say, for instance, "LAST NIGHT'S EPISODE OF PARKS AND REC WAS THE WORST THING I'VE EVER SEEN!" (which I would never ever say), people might not know that I'm employing hyperbole or that Parks and Rec is my favorite show of all time. If I say "Last night's episode of Parks and Rec was probably the weakest to me, but I still liked the storyline with blah blah blah" it gives a bit more context. But the best option? Thinking to yourself "That wasn't my favorite" and then doing something productive. - I get frustrated when I see negative comments about podcasts because, simply put, you are opting to listen. It's free, and you are choosing to listen. Same with television, books, movies, etc. Now, I will sometimes complain about billboards that I find offensive, awful music being played in grocery stores, etc. But those are things that I have no control over. I also like to limit it to when I'm truly offended by something, not just "I don't like it." - You said: "I know the question most people ask is "why are people COMPELLED to be mean on the internet?" (although the REAL question they're asking is "why are people compelled to be mean to ME on the internet?"). And that, of course, is inflating the issue. Very few people are COMPELLED to post shit on the internet. They don't give any more thought to it than they would if they were discussing a show with a friend or two in person" Sometimes I will get very frustrated (usually with a negative comment) and I will type up a big long negative retort. And then about halfway through I'll realize "What am I doing?" and stop. And then I'll go do something that doesn't make me angry. - I think, for me, it boils down to this: I'd rather spend my time doing something I love than fixating on the things that I hate. Snarky, hateful internet culture seems to love devouring that which they hate. Look at Jessi Slaughter. And I'll admit, I do chuckle when I read a particularly funny AV Club article about The Black Eyed Peas and I do spend too much time watching Courtney Stodden videos, but that contributes nothing to the world. I'm not doing anyone, including myself, any favors by doing that. - If you don't have anything nice to say, go create something else that is to your liking. I THINK that's the saying.
