  1. That scene has always bothered me. I've been to a lot of school dances, as a high schooler, and as a DJ. First, where did Usher get that banging new track from Moby on vinyl in 1996?

Don't you mean "FatBoy Slim"? (Who I Musically Love) Or is that another scene that I'm not remembering right (about) now? (thefunksoulbrother)

And second, I've never seen a whole group of people do such a complicated line dance. Sure Cha-Cha Slide, Cupid Shuffle, Copperhead Road, and Footloose look complicated but they are in reality only like 4 or 5 moves repeated. That's like 20

Yes and according to Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.../wiki/Flash_mob) the movie was like 5 years before the term Flash Mob was even a thing...

  2. I know that movie ideas, premises, plots and stories can be similar to an extent (Or completely copied/recycled in worst case scenarios) but who thinks its possible that the writer for 1999's "She's all That" got "Inspired" by the Bet storyline of Sky Masterson and Sgt. Sarah Brown in "Guys and Dolls"

P.S.: I saw "G&D" but this time I did not take notes and there were a lot of power and internet outages (Also I went to this epic crap game in the sewer followed by gambling rehab ;) ) that prevented me from commenting last week... I still have a couple of things to say and maybe ill post before next week's "Bugsy Malone" discussion starts (And I have that one ready on cue)

  3. I don't disagree with her but I'll take it a step farther and say that 1950s-60s expectations of a female killed her too. I believe that if she were born in this modern era and suffered through her mental illnesses with less stigma then she wouldn't have relied to heavily on drugs to make her feel better. ...I just think Marilyn could have been different. Also I still kinda believe in the whole conspiracy part cause she really wanted to make herself a better, more confident, actress.

    Agreed

  4. I saw the Lady Gaga Netflix Bio/Documentary "Gaga: Five Foot Two" and she talks a little bit about Marilyn Monroe and who she thinks is responsible for M.M. death...

    Lady Gaga Said:

"- If I'm going to be sexy on the VMA's and sing about the paparazzi, I'm going to do it while bleeding to death and reminding you of what fame did to Marilyn Monroe. - Right. - The original Norma Jean. And what it did to Anna Nicole Smith. And what it did to... Yeah. Do you know who?"

(Personal note from Me... "Max": That "do you know who?" line covers ANYBODY before 2016 Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Amy Winehouse, Kurt Cobain. And also it does not have to be somebody from the music industry so personally I could narrow it down but I couldn't pinpoint who she was talking about)

And in one of the first scenes her house is filled with star shapped ballons because Bradley Coopper is directing the "A Star is Born" remake starring her

  6. Great ep and movie... I want to suggest this quick glimpse of a man with a sign during the beach scene for the omission portion of the next mini-ep...

    post-19567-0-39898800-1505541606.jpg

    The sign reads...

    "NUDIST CHRISTIAN CHURCH:

    THE HUMBLE ROAD TO HEA-VEN.

    GOD IS NAKED ALSO!

    VOTE FOR NUDE BEACHES. PARKS.

    REPENT IN THE RAW"

So... Were the topless flashers and that one mooner in the biker bar scene repenting then?

  7. FORUM QUESTION: If you were getting married tomorrow, what song would you choose for your first dance?

It was a terrible time for music.

    giphy.gif

I'm 31 y/o (born in 1986) and I think my overall music taste is probably not going change much from now until the rest of my days (I'm aware that this entire rebuttal is nostalgia based and chances are that musically I'm already an old grump. Also, nothing is set in stone... Yet)... I dislike 99% percent of current maintream music, and I'll listen to Blue and Mambo Number 5 and old EDM and old Rock and old Pop before "Despacito" ANY DAY... The 80s, 90s and 00s (Up until 2009 more or less) are my main "go to" time periods for most of my favourite songs and artists (Again, don't get me wrong I'm not closed off for music after 2009 or before the 80s because I like many songs from the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s but the only popular current mainstream artists that I can listen to are Adele and

    )

Buuuuut... All I've said above is void if we talk Classical Music which trumps any kind/type of music in my book

To summarize, I respect your opinion CakeBug Tranch but I also respectfully disagree because I LOVE that type of music, and still do. The type of music which only flaw (that I think we can all agree) is that it didn't age that well (much like my aforementioned musical taste), But, IMHO, is still a million times better than the noises and sound polution we have nowadays ;) (Again, just my opinion that only SOUNDS closed-minded but is really not)

  8. Sorry, ...

    tumblr_lmfe8uWh5I1ql2jw1o1_500.gif

I FINALLY got to see G.P.B. and I liked it very much... Although I still "prefer" "Some Like It Hot" this is a great entry for my classic movie library

From my handful of notes I picked 4 of them to share with you...

    * ^^ The "You'll hurt yourself" line made me laugh because there IS actually some tearing of muscle in the exercise process that in turn makes them grow ( Although pain levels may vary and pain is not always a sure indicator that the excercise is being done right. So the phrase: "No Pain, No Gain" is True in some cases and a Myth in others )

    * The Malone Investigation Pictures reminded me of the Patty Cakes scene in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit"

    phPLy0t.png

    * "When Love Goes Wrong (Nothing Goes Right)" Is my favourite song from the film

    * The "Women are interested in Money and Men are interested in Looks" speech was really a clever argument that helped give depth to Marilyn's character. It was like a "Don't hate the player, hate the game" but with reasonable motives and a clear explanation for previous actions that without context seemed to portray Lorelai as nothing more than a Cheating Gold-Digger... (That and maybe the scenes that got cut also did not help on that front)

  9. Great episode... Semisonic was definitely (and still is) one of my favourite rock bands from the '90 and I remember recording their videos (Closing Time, Secret Smile and Chemistry) from MTV in VHS tapes...

And when Scott introduced Dan my reaction was very similar to that of David Wain...

I have to agree with David, that might be my favorite version of Closing Time I've ever heard.

It gave me goosebumps and he did it with perfect pitch as promised

  10. i've moaned before about how bad trailers are now and how they show you too much but this takes it to a whole other level. i know i haven't seen the movie but i'm pretty sure they basically showed you 90% of the movie. i'm guessing there's a nicolas sparks type twist at the end but this is ridiculous.

90%... So they showed ALMOST "everything, everything" ;)

(They probably thought to themselves... If we are going to show the whole movie THIS is the trailer to do it)

  11. *Public Service Announcement*

DO NOT waste your time with Baywatch (2017), Rob Huebel and Hannibal Buress were the only ones that nailed the tone that the entire movie should of had, its a shame their roles were brief.

IMHO Both the movie and the jokes were 10 to 20 years too late (They even carbon copied the "There's Something About Mary" zipper scene)

If you want to see The Rock and Alexandra Daddario (+ Carla Gugino and Paul Giamatti)I recommend you see "San Andreas" instead...

*This has been a Public Service Announcement...*
