EPISODE 76 — Adam Carolla, Comedian/Podcaster/Filmmaker
SeveralCircles replied to JulyDiaz's topic in The Wolf Den
As a gay man and a feminist, I stopped listening to him almost immediately after I started just for his trashbag views on art and culture, let alone all the other stuff. F this douchebag. -

EPISODE 341 — Banging the Table with Stars
SeveralCircles replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
I hadn't even listened to much of the episode when I engaged in some flame warring earlier and now that I've heard the way Amy shut down Claudia over the Mum thing I can say: "THAT is why people hated the band? Y'all crazy". If Scott had jumped in and derailed like that it would have felt totally normal. People get their backs up whenever there's a mmmmmusical guest and they need to calm down, or just not listen that week. Great episode. -

If you're feeling alone here, maybe complain about them somewhere else? I don't get people coming here to crap on the guests. That's what nasty pages on Reddit are for. PS How many bands have ever come back for a repeat performance? Giving feedback on how much you disliked one cannot have any positive value for anyone other than the complainer. God this gets so old.- 123 replies

Loved the group ad reads, loved Michael's performance, loved Santa and the Gang, love love love. Definite C+ Question though: what was that weird music they played instead of the Would You Rather Theme? -
Also didn't the trailers reveal pretty much everything?

You didn't come across as being against the people who liked the guests. I didn't take you as being "extra aggressive". You did go out of your way to be negative. You came to this site to write about your negative opinion, twice. That's going out of your way to be negative. Only one person here is misunderstanding things. I'm totally willing to stop getting upset (as I do suspect that you're refusing to budge on this because you don't want to see yourself as having done something wrong, since you clearly like the show and consider yourself a fan). However, I'm not willing to let you believe that me not responding anymore is because I conceded to your point of view. It'll mostly be because I know that trying to convert one single internet commenter is a massive waste of my own life. Even if Jason did specifically ask us to come here and fight.

PS If you do feel an overwhelming desire to let your criticisms be heard there's always Reddit. Coming directly to Earwolf to say "hey I think those people you like are bad" is what really feels like the crazy part to me. Thats like going to your friends house to complain about the muffins he made for book club. Like, just say that literally anywhere else. (please envision Jason saying "literally... lit-ter-all-ee!")

Look, if you're honestly confused, I can explain it to you I guess. But I'm sure if you relaxed and thought about it (and let go of being defensive perhaps?) it would be obvious that saying you don't like someone as a guest is indeed personally offensive to those guests, and also then kind of a bummer to the people who like those guests and want to stick up for them. You seem upset that people didn't like your comments, and nobody even said they don't like you "as a commenter". See how easy it is to feel kind of insulted or attacked? Couching it in the things that feel to you like a "HUUUUUUGEEEE difference." doesn't make that difference to other people. "I didn't like these people as guests "They're not adding that much, and not really standing out at all." If you don't see that as rude, that's an unfortunate misunderstanding. But it is still rude.

Interesting find. Way to go all obsessive psycho cop with your forum sleuthing though. Plz plz don't burn any houses down later. (PS I gave up drinking for Lent for some reason so I clearly also have too much free time to spend in forums)

You didn't ruin one persons day, you mildly irritated a number of people. You can dig your heels in, or you can just consider that unnecessarily crapping on the guests is, in fact, not really cool. I know you said you usually like the show, and I'm just gently letting you know that tacking that on doesn't make your comments read as not-rude. This isn't a board meeting where people are looking for critical input because they're considering firing the guests part way through. It's a free podcast that some friends recorded that you don't need to crap on. It's not a huge deal. Just maybe be nicer about the hosts friends? PS The fact that someone has to chime in and explain why they thought the weeks episode was bad everrrrrry week is what makes it extra irritating for people like me and likely Dr. Muffin (btw cool name bro). And what makes it extra unnecessary for it to continue to happen, especially twice in a row like that. It's assumed that someone somewhere will not like the guests because of whatever reason, so it doesn't need to be said. If you can't say something nice...

If it pains you to say that as much as it pains me to read it you can always hit "back" instead of "post".
