Yeah, I am the oldest of three boys so we watched the shit out of the Rocky, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, etc series and JCVD movies. Honestly, I think we watched more of that stuff than even the Disney movies with songs. I probably didn't see The Little Mermaid until I was at least 14 and I don't know that I have seen The Lion King start to finish in one sitting. The only thing that I can think of is An American Tail and that version of Somewhere Out There still gets me vaklempt.
Â
I think also, with musicals there is a bit of a cute wink and nod element to the songs that I am not a fan of.

What do you guys got?
Â
For me, probably mostly musicals like Grease, Rocky Horror Picture Show, etc. The only non-HDTGM musicals I have seen have been things from Troma or Trey & Matt from South Park and a few random ones like Sweeney Todd (which I didn't care for) and Little Shop of Horrors (which I do enjoy). Honestly I have less of a problem with suspending disbelief on something like there being a bee human soldier hybrid who can smell royalty than I do with everybody stopping what they're doing to perform a choreographed song and dance number. I think I just am not a fan of showtunes (with a few exceptions).

The date rape scene in O&R is pretty disturbing, like Todd Solondz disturbing. Eastbound & Down never did anything that dark.

This falls into the "tangentially HDTGM related recommendations" category that does not belong in the "bad movies" subforum, but I am not sure where else to put it. Anyway, happened to see the title on the guide and instantly decided to give it a view. They have it on rotation on Showtime, and Showtime on demand so if you subscribe I would definitely suggest checking it out for the following reasons:
- Discussion of Nic Cage as Superman
- Jon Peters describes himself as a "street fighter"
- One of the interviewees has a Zardoz head
Â
It's a bit rough around the edges, but it is an interesting look at a movie that got trapped and eaten by the vortex of development hell.

My new 5 would be:
Citizen Kane - Jason, you're going to hate this movie. Get this, this big billionaire is sad because he lost his sled!! Can you believe some people actually think this piece of shit is a good movie?
</one time poster>
Â
For real though (the first three I agree with others):
Dreamcatcher - I Dudditz
Â
Double Impact - Probably the JCVD movie with the most to discuss that does not have Dennis Rodman or based on a video game
Â
Now You See Me - The ultimate fuck you of an ending
Â
From Paris With Love - Bald Travolta and Jonathan Rhys Myers walking around Paris with a vase full of cocaine.
Â
Chill Factor - Post-Oscar Cuba Gooding Jr. and the poor man's Johnny Depp in a missfire of an action comedy.
Â
Honorable mention: Hard Rain and Black Dog

Tango & Cash - I know, I know, we had a bunch of Stallone movies recently but I think that this one is corny, fun and ridiculous and deserves to be made.
Â
Kazaam/Steel - Shaq.
Â
Tyler Perry's Temptation - I just want to hear their take on a Tyler Perry movie
Â
No Holds Barred - I watched this a couple of weeks ago and do not want it to be in vain.
Â
Junior - It's their logo!
Â
Holy shit! Not to pat myself on the back too much but I'm about to dislocate my arm here.

I think it's so dark and the main character is pretty unlikeable that people have a problem with that.
-
steel and kazaam ... does that mean no holiday episode again this year?
Â
Maybe a certain rapping genie that lives in a boom box could grant you a wish for a holiday episode...

He was cracking his shit up when people made fun of him on the Bieber roast and his bit was actually not bad.
Â
Yeah, he can certainly be funny and he has his own podcast. My concern would be that he would pipe up and talk over the actual comedians far too often.

I wonder if Shaq will be involved in the live episodes. He does seem to have a goofy sense of humor and a good nature, but I think that he tends to think that he is more of a comedian than he actually is and I don't know if he is sensitive about his attempt at being a movie star.

Hey everyone! Save yourselves a couple of bucks...
Â
I haven't seen this movie in a while, but it falls into the fun cheesy category and will definitely be one of the more enjoyable HDTGM films to (re)watch.
Â
I remembered seeing a video of a band doing a parody on Lifeforce 10 years ago, took me a few googles to dig it up

Steel and Kazaam? Fuck yes!

Was there a thing in the late 80s/early 90s Hollywood where you didn't need to be able to do a decent English accent to play an English person? I ask that because of Prince of Theives and Coppola's Dracula.

I love this little dig at PoT

I am glad for this movie solely because it spawned Robin Hood: Men in Tights, which is probably my favorite version of Robin Hood.

I wish I knew someone named Paul just so that I could post the "Happy birthday Paulie" clip on their facebook page every year.

So I think with Chelsea Field's recent emergence into HDTGM fame, this movie deserves a bump.

So there is a threesome in Perfect and a threesome in Death Spa and Chelsea Field is in both, does that mean that I missed the threesome scene in Masters of the Universe?

I was legit going to ask if anyone was dressing up for Halloween this year
Â
I am in desperate need of a haircut, and I was thinking I would make a good Jeff from Miami Connection

Sorry for the double post but I would absolutely go with Jupiter's wedding dress!
Â
I will hand it to the Wachowskis, they know how to make a visually stunning movie, they just suck at telling stories.

I have a question for you all. If you were going to dress up for Halloween as a character from a HDTGM movie, what would you choose?
Â
For me it's a tie between an out of shape Dolph Lundgren He-Man and Stinger from Jupiter Ascending (but mostly so I would be able to go around telling people that "bees don't lie")

Apparently this time the universe decided that it wanted to take me in a more rock direction, and that it really wanted me to listen to Monster Magnet:
Monster Magnet - Space Lord
Shining - The One Inside
Monster Magnet - See You In Hell
Leprous - Acquired Taste
Rodriguez - Sugar Man

I hope that he did nothing but apologize every single time Mutt Williams got on screen.
