So I will fully admit that I have not seen this movie, it could be fairly boring I don't know (I vaguely remember seeing the commercials with Cage bench pressing a woman). However Nic Cage, David Caruso and Sam L. Jackson is a powerful combination (Plus the Tucc) and it's about when all three were peaking. I put this up here because I saw that combo of names and that it is coming to Netflix on May 1st, so at minimum I will be watching this movie. Anyone else have any thoughts on it?

I admit that this movie makes very little sense, but they do a phenomenal job of establishing a creepy atmosphere that carries the movie entirely.

Isn't Jason into human sacrifice ala The Wicker Man (either one)?

I watch this film more as a series of paintings and don't try to take any more meaning in it than enjoying the visuals. Of course I'm the type of person that if someone describes a piece of music or a movie as "really weird" my ears perk up and want to check it out more.

This would be perfect for "James Lipton Presents: How Did This Get Made?"

I just re-listened to the episode and listened for the "fart" (not specifically for, mind you) and although I will say there is definitely something there, I would say it sounds more like a quack than a fart. Isn't it more likely that a super cool, bad movie loving duck just crashed the stage? Maybe this duck was trying out to be the third co-host if June couldn't return and was just trying to jump into the conversation? Maybe this is why Paul had Betty White feeding prehistoric ducks in mind for the end of the movie? I'm just saying that there are a myriad of possibilities--most of which do include ducks--and before we all take it as read that the gang is out there just farting all over the stage, maybe we should take these other options into consideration.
Â
Also, the duck looks like this:

You sure he doesn't look like this:

What about a slow jam from Nic's son's black metal band Eyes of Noctum:

There is a weird comedic undertone to this movie, especially with the Sean Connery stuff that has zero payoff. I think that the movie would still be a mess if it was played straightforwardly, but it would go from a horder's house of a mess to the morning after a party in films of a mess.

I would say that they're worth listening if for no other reason than because they have corrections and omissions which tie up loose ends from the regular episodes. There is other enjoyable content that you won't miss as well.

Scanning this thread, I think I may be the only one, but was anyone puzzled by Gleeson's accent? At times it sounded like he was attempting for an American accent and failing, often even sounding Southern but at others it sounded like he gave up and just went with his natural Irish accent.

If anyone else pays way too much for movie channels and has Encore Play, Lake Placid is up for your viewing pleasure.

If they keep improving the series like this, Fast 10 will be The Seventh Seal with car chases

To me, one of the most interesting things is seeing songs that I recognize, but completely forgot that they were part of a movie marketing campaign.

So many great suggestions added. I had no idea that Scandalous was from Catwoman, but I remember it.

Also, this is kind of a legitimately catchy song:

This falls into the "I can't believe there isn't already a topic on this" category. Anyone remember in the mid-90s when Hulk Hogan had a show that was like Knight Rider with a boat? Well it had a couple of made for TV movies in addition to the individual episodes (I know this because I got a DVD of it for my brother for a joke gift many years ago). One of the films is available online in its entirety:
Â
If you skip to about the 25 minute mark there is a really lovely interaction between Hulk and a little girl where he pulls a necklace out of the belly of a shark and puts it on her and then parasails with her attached to him while he wears a speedo.

I added a bunch more. So far the only one I could think of, but not find was Yolanda & Steve - Memories of Things from Toys.

I am trying to limit myself to one song per movie, so even though I'd like to add Mike Myers' "9 to 5" cover from the Love Guru, I think this is slightly better (i.e. shorter)
Â
I thought the same thing, but I have two from Over The Top (Sammy Hagar and Kenny Loggins), so if you feel like there are multiple songs that deserve to be on the playlist then don't hesitate and post them all.
Â
Also if anyone is wondering how I am sorting them I chose by popularity, which adds its own interesting layer to the list.

Lando- anything else you would like just let me know, I am your man.
Â
I've fine tuned it a bit more, it's almost perfect.
Â
Oh. My. God. You hit it perfectly. I can just see the infomercial with Paul and one of the guys from Air Supply telling me about this collection of songs right now as if it's some time after 2AM but before 6AM.
Â
Â
Oh man, how did I miss Mortal Kombat?
Â
Also, I MUST include the Blind Guardian song from In The Name Of The King:

I want to limit it only to songs from movies they have done otherwise it could get too big. However, I agree The Last Dragon needs to be done (and I would be able to watch it from my own collection) so hopefully those songs will make their way onto the playlist.

Deepest Bluest (Sharks Fin) had me thinking about the songs from the HDTGM movies and I wanted to put together a playlist of songs from HDTGM movies. I tried Spotify, but they didn't have the aforementioned Deepest Bluest, so I put together a youtube playlist. It's very incomplete so if anyone has either songs they want to add or a more collaborative way of creating a playlist feel free to suggest.

(also is there a way to embed playlists?)

I don't think the question is whether or not it makes sense that the sharks understood the ovens and cameras, it's whether or not Renny Harlin thought it made sense for the sharks to understand the ovens and cameras. It sounds like he heavily anthropomorphized the sharks with little regard to when and where it made sense, he was essentially treating them as Freddy Kreugers and Jason Voorheez's and not something akin to Ceasar in POTA.

Also, super stoked for Face/Off

Life as A House

I generally find Kevin Kline to be smug, he delivers his lines as if he's very very pleased with how he's doing it. However in this he looks like he actually avoids that pitfall.
Â
All that said, they really should have just kept the goth makeup on Anakin. It would have made Ep. 2 make so much more sense.
