  1. How much of it do you think is just that it's "dated" and how much is 'cause it's not a good movie?

Probably 5 years ago I got a special edition of it and was excited for it 'cause I had fond memories of it from childhood, but when i watched it I was greatly disappointed. That said, I enjoy Willow as an adult, but I think that unlike Legend, there is at least some comedy in it (albeit a lot of it is fairly lowbrow).

  2. I would say that the only way that they should do this movie would be with Werner Herzog as guest and do it with as much respect and adulation as possible. This man made some amazing films (Aguirre is one of my all time favorites) and since the majority opinion of this movie is positive, it would seem out of place to rip it to shreds and question its existence.

If you have seen Herzog films other than this and Grizzly Man you'll recognize that Herzog has a tendency to make films where the main character is or is going nuts. In this sense, this movie is perfectly in line with his other films.

  3. I think I remember seeing a bit of it in the Poison episode of "Behind the Music", as part of the "But now he's got his shit back together, and this is what he's doing now" segment, where they show that after conquering drugs and alcohol/bankruptcy/near death experiences/whatever, our favorite musicians are BACK, and they're doing....awful, terrible things that will further alienate their fanbase.

Bret Michaels is actually originally from around where I live, and he was playing at the local Days Inn a week or two before "Rock of Love" debuted. Yeah, he hasn't been back around in a while...

I think that they were showing the making of "A Letter From Death Row" which also features those Sheens and has a lower rating on IMDB. I got a copy of it in the Wal Mart cheapo bin a while ago.

  4. I don't think a bigger budget would have saved it. The plot was somehow both obvious and nonsensical and money wasn't the problem with Nick Cage's performance. That said, this movie is only really worth watching for Cage, once his character is no longer in the picture you're left seeing if it wraps up as predictably as you think it's going to.

  5. It has been a long time since I saw this movie, but it has a 5.4 on imdb and due to the Wild Wild West episode, I thin you could get some more good Jon Peters material out of it due to this factoid:

Robert Blake claims that his first meeting with producer Jon Peters consisted of Peters wrestling Blake to the ground. At the premiere, Blake said Peters told him he wrestled with Blake to see if Blake would lose his temper
