    Episode 328 — Beatle Heaven

Anybody taking umbrage with musical guests on a comedy podcast are in direct violation of the Gospel of Paul F. Tompkins. From Paul's Laboring Under Delusions: Live in Brooklyn (bolded emphasis mine): "I've been doing this long enough to know that if I were to tell you right now, 'Hey, we're going to have— in the middle of this comedy show that you expected to see— we're going to have a musician come out and play a couple songs,' you guys would probably be cool with that. But there's something about comedy in front of music that makes people lose their minds. 'Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome, before the music starts, the very idea of a comedian!' 'BOOOOOOO! WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?! I CANNOT ADJUST MY EXPECTATIONS EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A VERY COMMON OCCURRENCE! BOOOOOOO!'" Except in this particular podcast situation, the script is flipped with comedy fans being the irrational music fans from the above excerpt, booing the music in the middle of the comedy. This happens every time improv4humans has a musical episode as well. Comedy people, don't be music people. You're supposed to probably be cool with that. Don't be throwing your verbal ice cubes at Comedy Bang Bang because you cannot adjust your expectations. Thanks

    Episode BO2014.4 — Best of 2014 Pt 4

Nubile Agape was a sweetheart of an episode. Kulap and Shelby were so delightful, and their reactions to Scott's and Aaron's many riffs and playful pokes at Shelby warranted a few re-listens from me. Suffra-get City!

    Episode BO2014.3 — Best of 2014 Pt 3

Love that picture! We got ourselves a regular Scott ActionMan and Major Tompkins over here.

    Episode 100 — Junior

Quasar Sniffer, I too have no idea what nrkist is going on about. I read his thoughts, my brow furrowed, then chalked it up to Paul encouraging listeners to complain on the boards.
  5. I concur. I know I'm really risking derailing this thread by continuing this particular topic, but I don't think she necessarily meant exactly what she said, maybe because she was confusing feminism's tenant of equal-in-value with gender-sameness. Her point still stood tho that men and women are not the same, in that the cultural gender dynamics involved in complimenting a stranger's smile vary wildly depending on who is giving and receiving the compliment.
  6. That part tripped me up as well. It's the same angle my dad leveled at me in disgust about what he perceived as feminism. "T-T-T-They're saying men and women are the SAME." No, men and women are EQUAL IN VALUE. No one is saying men and women are the same. The two terms aren't congruent nor interchangeable. You know, like how on the Declaration of Independence it says, "All men are created the same"?
  7. I want to hear more interviews where Matt explains Bartertown to people as part of a question. I grinned so big when he brought up Master Blaster.

    Episode 325 — Musical Organs

That is most definitely Rory. Check in with any of his Todd Glass Show sessions, and you'll hear it's the same laugh.
  9. They sit down at s table for live recordings, just like Doug Loves Movies, or CBB (but I think Scott & co sit on stools or chairs with no table). When Betsy tells Eric he can even put his drink on the table, it was because Eric was placing his drink on the floor next to his chair, picking it up for a sip, then leaning down to put it back on the floor. Meanwhile, Matt, Horatio, Betsy, and Stephanie all clearly had their drinks on the table. Hilariously awkward.
  10. Division of segments into separate podcasts is iffy to me. Of my subscriptions, I've only ever experienced it once, which was when Doug Loves Movies took its interstitial content between Tuesday recordings and moved it to Doug Loves Minis. I am a fan of Doug Loves Minis because I enjoy the regular format of the show so much that when a Benson Movie Interruption preamble recording or a quick game from a stand-up show would drop I'd get stoked thinking it was a full episode of the regular show. Doug Loves Minis became a nice home for that content because I know the kind of episodes to expect from each podcast now. Regarding Case Closed, I feel it fits just fine as part of i4h prime and don't think it is necessary to move it. That being said, if it did move to a monthly/whatever mini-cast dropped on a Tuesday or what-have-you— like the bonus eps— then I think that is fine as well. I do think it should remain under the regular i4h podcast RSS. Just like with Scott on CBB announcing there will be a Thursday bonus ep, Matt could announce on Thursday's i4h that Tuesday will be a Case Closed. This way another podcast subscription would not have to be made. It'd still be i4h. Once again, to reiterate, I don't personally feel Case Closed needs to be moved to its own separate thing, etc. But if Matt wants to find a home for Case Closed outside of the Thursday episodes, then I think a bonus Tuesday ep is the easiest route to go without making a new podcast RSS feed, a new subscription for listeners to add, etc.
  11. I attended the live recording this past Saturday, and I will say that for the podcast they understandably did cut out the part where they looked up his fb page and the first scene of the night that followed. The scene in question revolved around Stephanie leaving a very plain-named Matt character for a ridiculously-named Horatio character. Horatio is their next door neighbor who technically lives closer to the school Stephanie is attending. Betsy comes in later as an even more ridiculously-named character. Betsy's new to the neighborhood and is going door-to-door to have people welcome her (or something like that). Betsy lives four houses closer to the school than Horatio does, soooooo
  12. I vote for keeping Case Closed and the musical episodes in the show. If magic like the Atlantis scene can be spun from musical guests then it's more than worth the price of admission. When it comes to i4h, I like how Matt has always used the podcast to do improv how he feels like doing it. He read letters from his dad, he brings in articles he's read, YouTube clips, musical guests, Internet guests, he invites people to debate. This is i4h. It's more than just an improv show with a one word suggestion.
  13. I haven't seen Wild Horses, but I did just attend a live i4h with Stephanie Allynne on the panel (I'm assuming if you like Allynne then you're listening to i4h), and she was great, as usual. (Also, I did not realize that Allynne was dating Tig until I just googled her, and now it makes sense that I saw Tig at the show outside of the context of 'Oh, Tig sees shows too!') I should go see WIld Horses tho. These ladies tear shit up. Whenever Lapkus posts a shot of a Wild Horses show on her instagram, it always looks like insane improv is going down.
  14. I'm starting this thread over. "YES! GREAT QUESTION!!" -Scott, super-stoked about his (admittedly) great question
  15. On a sidenote: I was wondering why PFT's cavalcade of characters CBB NYC ep was not in the holiday bundle (and maybe the news that the audio file was lost already broke elsewhere, but this was the first I heard of it) and was very, very sad to hear the news.
  16. "YES! GREAT QUESTION!!" -Scott, super-stoked about his (admittedly) great question
  17. Btw, the CBB Holiday Bundle is amazing. Drop that cash money, people!
  18. That's exactly who I was picturing. Constantine, Identity, Deadwood, Walking Dead, etc.
  19. Holy shit. SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER The Pie Minister is amazing.
  20. I really hope someone with the talent and where-with-all for audio editing takes this podcast and creates a cut-down version with all the requested edits. I would love to hear what that sounds like.
  21. I am dying because when they came back from commercial and were rolling again, I did the physical gesture of two hands of spaghetti being put back together right before Paul asked what the motion was that Brett used, and Brett saying, "I put the noodles back together."
  22. Every episode that drops that has pictures of Seth in that neck brace makes me so psyched. Seth's METHOD, man, and it deserves a nod on here every time (because he can't).
