    Episode 71 β€” Badu Doo-Wop

Seconded. Rude, sexist and uncalled for, besides being completely incorrect.

    Episode 71 β€” Badu Doo-Wop

I didn't immediately recognize her face in the thumbnail, and then when I read the name MY JAW DROPPED, FOR CEREAL. I LOVE Julie, and her podcast has made this past year shine a whole lot brighter! Can't wait to listen!

    Episode 48 β€” Astrobiology

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it on any previous episode threads, but I will never get enough of Kyle's "little kid asking 'why?'" voice over top of episode guests who are on the phone. It happened very briefly in this episode, and I would love MORE of that, please. So good!

    Taking this week off

My deepest condolences, Tig. I'm so sorry about the loss of your mom.
  5. Holy moly. The gang's confoundedness at the storyline is AMAZING. I love how the bulk of this episode is just everybody helping each other out to understand what it is they just watched, breaking the story down moon brick by moon brick. Loved the A Hologram Should Have No Fear of Mortality by Philip K. Dick, "I Can Haz Sads," drawing parallels to Howard the Duck (future HDTGM nominee maybe?), the long awkward silence Jason got out of everybody (#clones), it's all about the Hillarys, the Levinson/Sonnenfeld conundrum, and OH MY GOD Jason's observation of where they could've shot this entire movie had me doubled-over in a giggle fit.

    Episode 69.5 β€” 3/30/12 TWO CHARTED 8

Penchak Silat is the martial art used in The Raid: Redemption. The economy of movement in Silat is extraordinarily high, meaning every single action is executed in a way to maximize the destructive capabilities and mimimize superfluous positions that could leave oneself open to counterattack. I was going to see The Raid last weekend, but didn't get around to it. Hopefully I'll see it this weekend. Great episode, guys!
  8. Seth: "I don't do Mexican stand-offs. I do anglo-quads." Brian: "We're doing a caucasian face-a-roo, alright?" This got me good. Had to duck behind my cubicle wall.

"I'm the schleprock Flintstone of wanting to bang that hole." -Howard I don't even know what that truly means, but when I heard it I loved it.

JM: "He was my best friend." SA: "He was your best friend?" JM: "Inh-- some of his characters were." SA: "Aww. I, I mean, he was an acquaintance... of mine." Is it safe to assume Andy Daly's follow up to Nine Sweaters will be Eight Autodefenestrations?

    Episode 65.5 β€” 3/2/2012 TWO CHARTED

Well that's the thing, isn't it? In this rousing back and forth neither of us has even mentioned the specific context of Kulap's commentβ€” her husband's brand-new show (which was actually a very touching portion of this episode; "watching your friend achieve their dreams," etc). Chances are, if someone is listening to Who Charted?, they got here through CBB, are looking forward to the IFC show, and want to hear that it's good from the people who care about it. No one would expect her to say the CBB show was bad, nor does anybody expect the show to be bad (it's Comedy Fucking Bang Bang!). But that assessment isn't because she "laughs like an insane asylum patient at EVERY joke" or isn't a "tough critic." It is because it is her spouse's show. One could even posit that she would be nervous about its quality because its success is tied to Scott's emotional investment in it, whom Kulap is emotionally invested in and wants to see succeed. Positing further, she would then be pleased to see that she does in fact find what they are doing as quality, thus reassuring her of the show's possibilities for comedy, and then reporting that back to the fans of these shows. Your comment reeked of disrespect with a sharp hint of misogyny. We all know her statement is not truly subjective. How could it be? One supports one's significant other. So how can you take her claim of being a tough critic as an objective comment in context to the subjective topic of her husband's show, and then criticize her for it without sounding like a dick? The short answer is you can't.

    Episode 65.5 β€” 3/2/2012 TWO CHARTED

You are correct that it sounds like Kulap enjoys the podcast, Howard's company, as well as the company of their comedic guests, and that her bubbly attitude is a welcome presence on the show. You've already nullified your point by claiming Kulap laughs (and not just chuckles, but 'gut-busting' laughs) at everything Howard does, which she does not. You have also failed to acknowledge that this show deals with many top-charting pieces of entertainment once (and now TWICE) a week, where she voices her opinion about a great many things, not all of which are positive (or popular). She speaks her mind, and when she doesn't like something she says it. You can't judge her abilities as a "tough critic" by whether or not she laughs at something one of her friends or professional comedians says (or tries to say) on the show. The show is designed for her and Howard to enjoy it and each other's company. But yes, YOU can laugh AT Kulap (which is what you are doing) based on your condescending assessment of how tough a critic you think she is, but you're just being a dick by voicing it here.

    Episode 65.5 β€” 3/2/2012 TWO CHARTED

@Thomas Yeah, you're right! it's ridiculous how Kulap laughs at things her comedians-who-are-also-her-friends say. Why can't she NOT laugh at things like REGULAR folk who DON'T enjoy their PROFESSIONALLY COMEDIC friends????!?!!!!?!??!?!!?!!?!!????!?!!!!!!!!????!!!!!????! ???!!!!!?!???!!????!!?? ! ? Give me a break.

    Episode 65.5 β€” 3/2/2012 TWO CHARTED

Oh man, Dustin! Throwing out some love for Wes Borland's Big Dumb Face! Love their concept album, and wish you would've shared the title of it on airβ€” "Duke Lion Fights the Terror!!" For those who don't know about Duke Lion: He's the son of man and god and lion. He's the one who keeps the good from dying. His golden sword Can crush the horde. He fights for good for free he's not for hire. Some primo tracks include 'Burgalveist,' 'Duke Lion,' and 'Blood Red Head On Fire.' My friend in art school introduced me to the band, and I was skeptical, having never enjoyed Limp Bizkit. Soon enough our entire group of friends were loving it. My friend even started sketching up his own renditions of the characters in the album, such as the titular protagonist, Duke Lion. We all liked his versions more than the actual album art, so I colored them and made us all new iTunes album art. Props to Dustin for bringing them up! Definitely worth a listen.

    Episode 63.5 2/17/12 Two Charted

Does Kulap read comics? I know she's mentioned that Scott does. If you do, Kulap, I'd love it if on Two Charted she could do a top 5 of comics she's into, or a list of comics to get girlfriends into comics, or a list of top 5 female comic book characters, or something along those lines. The comic book medium is so terribly characterized as a superhero fanboy cavalcade of arrested development that I would really love hearing any female with fun, insightful opinions (Kulap) dish on comics every so often. And believe me, whenever Scott and PF Toddler start riffing on comics, my ears and heart perk up ALWAYS (like on the Doug Loves Movies Tournament of Championships episode where Scott and Paul have a Marvel Team-up as The Thing and the Silver Surfer! SO GOOD).
  21. Brian Huskey is, and always has been a delight. I first saw him on Free Radio on Vh1, and ever since then I have lit up whenever he is involved in something I'm checking out. He's been doing great work on Earwolf, and his appearances on all the network's podcasts (improv4humans, Gelmania, Comedy Bang Bang, The Apple Sisters, HDTGM, etc) have been top notch. Just a really funny guy, talented comedic actor, and a really good guest. I need to check out Children's Hospital, as I've only seen a couple episodes, one of which being the episode where Brian Huskey's character is paired up with Joe Lo Truglio, which was excellent. Just wanted to put that out there. Brian Huskey is awesome.
  22. Sorry Justin, but that was the appropriate way to do it. So guys, here's what I'm thinking: RINGTONES.

    Episode 62.5 β€” 2/10/12 TWO CHARTED

Guys, I am loving Two Charted, which is not a surprise, of course, considering how much I already enjoy the show! Being a comics guy, I did want to address Howard's Ghost Rider assumption, in that I want to claim Ghost Rider definitely has his fans. When I discovered my dad's comic book collection at the age of 9, his 70's Ghost Rider comics immediately caught my eye. The character is visually striking. I moved on to other heroes like Daredevil and X-Men after that when I started spending money on comics, but Ghost Rider still resonates, and of course has had crossovers with other characters, as superheroes are wont to do. He's had titular books published since his inception to now, and it's a challenge to keep a book in print, especially today. Considering how many superhero films that are out there these days, and considering how many superheroes there are across Marvel's and DC's multiple universes, it's safe to say that any Marvel or DC superhero that has gotten his or her own movie is fairly popular in the comics world, and Hollywood feels they can sell it to the public masses. Your Green Lanterns, your Daredevils, etc. They've been around for a while, and are well known in comics (whether their movies are good is up for debate. I personally have not enjoyed Green Lantern, Daredevil, or the first Ghost Rider. Note- DD & GR were both directed by Mark Steven Johnson). Ghost Rider is getting plenty of attention these days between the Crank 2 guys directing the sequel and the unfortunate news of Ghost Rider's creator getting slammed with a $17,000 bill by Marvel/Disney. http://ohdannyboy.bl...lc-et-al-v.html
  24. Hi Matt! I loved this episode, as I have loved all the others. I was away from podcasts for a couple months, and basically stopped right before improv4humans debuted. Now that I have access to the show I am marathon listening to all of it during and after work, and I am having a great time. I finally got around to writing an iTunes review today, and in honor of your late father, of which I offer my deepest condolences, I wrote my review in the style of that letter his friend sent him which spawned one of the BEST SCENES of this podcast ever on this episode. Here's what I wrote: ***** (5 Stars) improv4humans is really neat. It'll win your heart with all its good improvisations by talented improvisors. The suggestions always lead to good stories. Which then make good improvs. It will make you laugh so much you will get quite loopy. If you like to laugh like I do, then improv4humans is something you will think is pretty neat too. I am much entertained by improv4humans. It is very neat.
