EPISODE 189 — Apes Will Fight If We Must
KajusX replied to JulyDiaz's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
I know a lot of people are casual listeners, but if you don't understand some of the deeper stuff surrounding long-form improv, particularly UCB's, and want to know more, there's this book called: The Upright Citizens Brigade Comedy Improvisation Manual It's an awesome tome! And also, there is the internet. The UCB's wikipedia page even mentions the Harold, and the Harold itself has its own Wikipedia page. -
I saw Strange Brew when I was maybe 10 or 11 years old and loved it, and then when I was 19 or 20 (after taking four years of Honors English in high school with all of that mandatory Shakespeare) I watched it again and was more blown away than I should've been when I realized how the plot of the film mirrors Hamlet, and how Bob and Doug are Rosencrantz & Guildenstern. It made me love that movie even more. So goddamn funny.

Loved all of the Odesza playing throughout the ep. It's been a regular on my music rotation for months.

EPISODE 9 - The Annual Ghost Sex Convention
KajusX replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
I caught that for sure! You know why Eban was able to do that, right? (he's simply the best) -
GAH! You beat me to it! I loved Adomian's Promethea pull!

EPISODE 3 - Neil Casey - Spotlight On: Mr. Jordache
KajusX replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Womp It Up!
This episode was womptacular. Casey did a great job. I love Marissa and Listler exploring the denizens of their ridiculous high school. Mr. Jordache has set the bar. See if you can beat that, Mr. Joe Bongo! -
EPISODE 8 - A Superyacht
KajusX replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
What's even weirder is that I wrote that comment before I had gotten to the part of the episode where they talk about replacing words in melodies, and I didn't realize the weird kismet of it all until your comment! EDIT: Nevermind! Upon relistening, I realized Paul talks about singing songs before the Hobbit stuff. For some reason I got that shuffled around. -
EPISODE 8 - A Superyacht
KajusX replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
I saw those pics last night and am listening to the ep right now. I totally went "OMG what tight scheduling!" Also, sidenote: 'And also this' I read as the Tenacious D lyric/melody that Paul sometimes sings for 'That's also true!' -
EPISODE 110 — The Island of Dr. Moreau
KajusX replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
PAUL: June is really having a response to this. What is happening, June? JUNE: Oh, he's so small. (in a whisper) Guys, he's too small. This reaction SLAYED me.- 149 replies

EPISODE 187 — Wild Horses III: Gossipy Elephants
KajusX replied to JulyDiaz's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
As soon as the line ""How'dya like my new outfit?" was spoken, I was like, "Well-a, well-a, well-a..." -
EPISODE 187 — Wild Horses III: Gossipy Elephants
KajusX replied to JulyDiaz's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
Matt thinking of Wild Horses while watching the gossipy Dumbo elephants was spot on. When the clip was playing I was like, "Ok, yeah, I can totally see where Matt got that. They're totally in Wild Horses' wheelhouse." Then when they started the scene? Holy cats. "Wait- are they playing another clip?!" Everyone was SO on point with their over-the-top, animated elephant voices. Truly a delight.- 27 replies

EPISODE 350 — Helmets, Aqueduct, Crucifixion, and Boobs
KajusX replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
I listened to the Middleditch episode several times over the week of its release, and EVERY time he knock-pounded the table was right when my mind was in the middle of wandering, so it made me jump EVERY time. Then I'd laugh, click the 15 sec rewind button and listen to the set up and the knocking again. SO funny. -
EPISODE 186 — Waxahatchee and the Beige River
KajusX replied to JulyDiaz's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
"What're you, Sisyphus?!" This got me REAL good. I made a commotion at my place of work. -
"I'll put a fuckin' GUN to your head!" is still one of the stand-out lines of this episode for me. What an amazing entrance for Ho-Ho.

Also, remember that all of these shows are recorded one year in advance, so if they wrapped up CBB, we probably would've heard about it somewhere before that ep drops this time next year.

Wengert's Brad was great, (of course!) but every time he circled around eating bread I was hoping he'd say he was going to 'mow down' on it. It's fine that he didn't. It just means I get to go back and pull that episode in order to scratch that itch. lol

I felt that PFT bit was germane to the conversation going on (and on!) in this thread.

The worst letters are the letters that people write to Entertainment Weekly because people write letters to Entertainment Weekly just to say how much they liked the picture on the cover. That's their whole letter. That's it. That's the whole letter. Like they saw just the cover of a magazine and they went, 'Ooohhhhh, I have to put my feelings into WORDS.' Dear Entertainment Weekly, Thanks so much for putting a picture of Leonardo DiCaprio on the cover of your magazine! I like him! So you can imagine I was sure pleased to see a picture of him on the front of your book! It is nice of you to put pictures of things I like on your magazine front-part. For future reference, here's some other things I like: I like tomatoes, umbrellas (all kinds), some dogs, most cats. There's a cat in my neighborhood named Speedy I'm awful fond of. Maybe you could put a picture of him on your magazine? I don't know if you'd send a photo grapher to take a picture of him, or a sketch artist to drawl a picture of him, but you better be quick 'cuz they don't call him Speedy for nothing! LOL Oh well, all the blood's leaving my head now, so I'd better sign off. Love, The Emptiest Person Alive

This was an amazing episode, highlighting that whether it's finances or self-defense, Bob is sorely ill-equipped but ready to take it on, eyeballs first no less.

BLAINE: "What's your charisma, by the way?" DAN: "It's only 10. It's not very impressive--" BLAINE: "Ahh, that's not very high compared to some other charismas I could talk about." LOL

16 Heaven Knows I'm Morrissey Now
KajusX replied to JulyDiaz's topic in The Hooray Show with Horatio
Holy cats, Chad. I put the Hooray Show on while walking to my physical therapy appointment this morning and then resumed while walking back to my apartment. Walking down the sidewalk, I start hearing alt-J's track 'Intro' and am like, "Is somebody listening to alt-J in their car?" I keep walking and the music keeps creeping in, despite cars moving faster than I am. "Is it coming from an apartment window?" I took off my earbuds and the music stopped. You sly dog. Sure enough, as the segment ends the track kicks in before the first ad reading. As it all happened I remembered, "Oh yeah, they talked about liking alt-J a few episodes back." Anyway, great episode! I got a big kick out of how close in cadence Carlos' & Rog's voices are, Dorff was entertaining as always, and I really enjoyed everyone's stories and how much you all were enjoying each other's stories as well. The whole thing had a big palling around vibe, with the traveling to Vegas stories and the cartel casting stuff. P.S. 'Something Good' also seems like it'd be a subtle, quality alt-J track you could slip into the podcast at some point. (just a random thought, as now, because of this Hooray Show ep, I am currently listening to that album) -
Keep it in your pants, you two.
