    EPISODE 116 — Blue Worm

Rick seems to be pretty polarizing (which is a surprise to me, honestly), but I'll say this: this episode had my attention more than other recent episodes, and a large part of that was Rick. I'm also getting very antsy about when Dan's new character is going to show up. Like Rick, every time the party hears something in the distance and says 'fuck that,' I'm thinking, 'Well, maybe that's Dan's new character! WTF?'

  3. WHOA This looks completely next level. I'm stoked! EDIT: A Clockwork opening and left and right speaker play? Already so much to like in addition to the amazing guests.
  4. I caught that too, as I took a break from re-listening to all of Harris' CDDR/CBB/AP/UTU2TM? appearances to listen to this new ep.
  5. I only saw Harris live once. It was for a recording of The Anytime Show with Dominic Dierkes podcast (which is no longer on iTunes to the best of my knowledge and I can't find it anywhere; I know it's ep #53, I just can't find a playable recording online). The show was recorded live at a little theater on Santa Monica Blvd, I'd try to make it every other Sunday or so, and it was always sparsely attended; maybe ten people max in that little black box theater. I would always sit in row two on the aisle, very close to the stage. On that episode, sitting in their two white traditional armchairs, Harris tells Dominic the blowjob story and how the young lady had since passed away. I think it was at that part that I guffawed a bit in the audience (it could've been another honest confession of his where I guffawed, I honestly cannot recall). Harris then locked eyes with me for a split second with no discernable reaction on his face. But I remember that moment and thinking "Oh, was I not supposed to laugh at that? I hope I didn't offend Harris." Harris and Dominic continued their chat, and at one point Harris made a comment/joke about whether this was supposed to be a therapy session or not, so I think it was all par for the course of his direct way of expressing himself. I worried about his reaction to my reaction for a few days, as I am prone to worry about things I in no way can do anything about. Looking back I'm sure it was completely inconsequential. I'm glad he had a better audience for that story this time around.
  6. Wow. Just... wow. I'm tearing up.

    We will miss you Harris

I've decided that before next week's batch of podcasts— in which I am presuming all of the talented comedic hosts that knew Harris will probably say something of Harris in memoriam— I went and downloaded all of Harris' CDDR/CBB, UTU2TM?, and Analyze Phish eps, as well as the most recent You Made It Weird, and I'm just marathoning them all weekend. I'm currently listening to CDDR #52. The You Made It Weird ep was amazing (I cannot believe I hadn't heard about the topics discussed in it from anywhere where I usually hear things). In it, Pete and Harris were on the topic of death. Harris stated about death that it's a part of life and should not be sad, and then made an exception, speaking on the death of Robin Williams as an example. He stated what I've been feeling since I heard the news of Harris' passing: "It's sad to not get his comedy anymore, and it's sad for his family." It was nice, super-fun, and dare I say comforting having his comedic voice permeating so much great stuff over the past almost-decade. I'm upset that this is the end, and there is no longer a person and their comedy career to cheer onwards for what would have been many decades. So now I'm just binging all the things. I hate death.
  8. I didn't necessarily think she sang the theme song, but I also did not have to wonder long because not long after the podcast started, Lauren posted a pic on her instagram of her and the vocalist, stating that she wrote the lyrics and her friend sang it.

Episode 6 - Rock of Agee

This episode had an amazing flow to it. Agee is always a delight (I am loving the energy he brings to Nerd Poker), and I could listen to the three of you chat for quite a while, so much so that when the Bazan ending music kicked in I was like, "Oh! Oh my, oh no, oh wow, I can't believe I'm at the end." Once again, great flow to the ep. Loved the backing music tracks when Billy Joel and Steely Dan came up. Too funny!
  10. Ahhhhh!! That INHUMANS tangent was awesome, as was yet another instance of Scott quoting one of Bob's Mr. Show lines: "Soon, soon! You're a balloon!"
  11. If anyone has reasons why these two should not be wed, speak now your technicality-no-down-boo-overs or forever hold your peace.
  12. I'm super-happy that Traci is describing Twitter avatars again!
  13. Did you mean Eric? I ask because Matt doesn't really yell at Thomas ever.

EPISODE 334 — The Dream Team

I was afraid I was going to die when Scott was talking about popcorn films and robots again, but thankfully I didn't because my trigger word is 'Allspark,' and Scott graciously spared me.
  15. SECONDED. I remember stumbling across these a few years ago and just marathon'd them all. SO good.

    EPISODE 5 - A BETTER VIEW

I am in love with the transitions in this episode. I have some recording equipment and iphone apps (that I have NO idea how to use, really), and back in November 2013 I went and visited my old Colorado friends that I had not seen properly in about 10 years. I decided to record some conversations as we touched base and reminisced, etc, with the plan of cutting it all together into an hour long little personal podcast of sorts that I'd then send to them. I have no idea how to use Garage Band or Audacity or any other sound-editing programs, so I kind of did the fade away on my project. If only I had decided to do an image project! I know Photoshop. I should've played to my strengths!! This episode captured the feel I had in mind for what I was hoping to create. I'm totally going to go back and dissect this episode whenever I decide to revisit my little audio experiment. Great work, Chad!

    EPISODE 333 — Pit Stop

I think it's funny whenever someone starts an account to make a post on a board in order to state (more or less) that they are leaving the board. But now Scott T has revealed he's been a lurker with an account for almost two years and is an occasional reader of the boards to some extent. I probably should have clicked on your profile page to vet my assumption, but so many one-off comments are from people who want to say something negative, so they start an account, say their peace and bounce, that I did not account for lurkers. My bad. It wasn't an attack on your credibilty. I believe you felt what you said about the state of these boards. There's just not much I felt like doing with that sentiment because when people post to say they've just reaffirmed their decision to not visit the boards and good day to you sirs and madams, I'm just like, "Fair enough. Too-daloo."

    EPISODE 333 — Pit Stop

I always smile whenever I see a brand new profile created to say stuff like that. Apparently it was worth the bother.

Episode IV - A New Hope

Update: went back and re-listened to all eps. Confirmed, I was definitely in the grip of irrational hang-ups. Glad I could come back with new ears, because you guys were great out of the gate.

    EPISODE 333 — Pit Stop

I haven't had much experience with Miriam Tolan. I've coincidentally seen the movies she has credits in. But as far as podcasts go— other than this CBB ep— she's appeared as the great Rochelle the Elf on the ADPPP ep Get Fit Now with Bill Carter! So far she's two for two on podcast eps! She's a great player! I still crack up whenever I think about Rochelle's plug: "I am working on a... story about... a... hamburger... who... has powers."

    EPISODE 333 — Pit Stop

NO! I want to argue my point! On a MESSAGEBOARD!!! I'm tired of all the Horatio hate! Ow, I hurt my fist banging it on my keyboard.

    EPISODE 333 — Pit Stop

Let's be really official here because specificity is the soul of narrative— Horatio has made 12 CBB podcast appearances, 2 CBBTV appearances where Scott has gone on record saying he could not stop breaking, his i4h appearances are always amazing, as is The Hooray Show, he's an SNL alumnus and creator of the newest Christmas Catalog staple 'I WIsh It Was Christmas Today' (Step aside, Mariah!), and he's a founding member of the UCB. Fuckin' A he's right up there with Lauren Lapkus and PFT. The man's an amazing talent. Apologies if this reads as crotchety or ornery. I just want Horatio to get the credit he deserves. He's been making me laugh for forever. Check out the two UCB ASSSCAT specials they recorded in 2007. One was on and one is on DVD. Horatio's on both (along with many other super-funny, recognizable people).

Episode IV - A New Hope

Thanks for the great reply, Chad! I can only imagine how work-intensive sound editing can be, and I wanted to make sure in my post that I never conveyed an air of unappreciative-ness for the work, because I whole-heartedly do appreciate it, and like I said, you guys are doing a bang up job. I was just coming to the table with a little baggage that was all on me. I've re-listened to episodes 3 & 4 a combined five times, and I'm thinking I can and should go back and re-listen and re-appreicate eps 1 & 2, now that I've banged out all of my personal shit!
