Episode 1 — Drop That Little Bug
daveB from Oakland replied to admin's topic in the reality SHOW show
Alright, it's working for me now, I'm listening to it ... sounds alright. These dudes are managing to engage me in a topic that I'm not inherently interested in. -
Yah, I'm also a little unclear on the meaning of Swag Dracula. Initially, it sounded like a term for when someone is stealing someone else's style ... but then the discussion kinda detoured int the topic of ghost-writing (which I guess is sort of a related topic, but not exactly the same thing). I mean, you're not really a "dracula" if you're paying a ghostwriter for their lyircs. Right?

Maybe this can happen.<< Ben, if you didn't already know, you can buy all the Cyber Thug shows (including a bonus show) at the Earwolf store. Totally worth the $7.99, in my opinion! http://store.earwolf.com/products/brand-new-cyberthug-radio-with-miles-archer-the-complete-collection

I was about to write a very angry letter to Tim Heidecker regarding his lack of British accent whilst depicting Paul Rodgers. But then Tim acknowledged that he is still developing the character of Paul Rodgers, and as Tim makes progress Tim will eventually portray Paul Rodgers with a proper British accent. And so I hereby forgive Tim Heidecker. Peace has returned to the land. The only loser in this scenario is Stamps.com, because now I cannot write and send that angry letter. But Stamps.com, I will definitely think of you the next time a celebrity says or does something that makes me angry.

Episode 98.5 — 10/19/12 TWO CHARTED 37

Kulap has made a great contribution to the world with #30daysofrocktober. Search it out, folks! http://pinsta.me/u/iamkulap -
He was a member of Marcus Marx and his Funky Bunches.

Dumb Randy cracks me up. Kudos to the Sklarbs for finding a way to make the sponsorship segment enjoyable.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Regarding what I said above ... okay, I guess that TOOCH does show up in the animated banner thing that appears on the top of the page. But I tend to ignore that animated things on web pages. I'm kinda weary of animated things on the interwebs. I like a web page that stays still, unless I tell it otherwise. So I continue to stand by my argument, kinda sorta.
-
To the web designers: Hey man, I'm glad that Earwolf is diversifying and adding new content ... but Tooch didn't even show up on Earwolf's front page today. This will not stand! Don't bury Tooch underneath all the new stuff. That ain't no way to treat Wie-Wie and Trish!! Thanks you for your time and consideration

The reverse egg insertion sound at the end of the show was genius, (although I imagine it was an unpleasant experience for Hermes). Kudos to Ram-Hands for that sound? If, indeed, that's the guy who should receive kudos for that. If not, kudos to somebody else.

Episode 2 — O Canada

Interesting that Har Mar is a big advocate of Autumn. I think a debate with Howard "Summah" Kremer is in order. -
Episode 2 — O Canada
daveB from Oakland replied to admin's topic in Nocturnal Emotions with Har Mar Superstar
Good episode! Nice to hear Ellen in relaxed mode ... as she acknowledged here, she gets a little nervous on the TV talk shows. Still don't know about "Nocturnal Emotions". How about "She Blinded me With Sirence". Or just "Blinded by Sirence". I say thumbs up for "Ruin Your Favorite Song". -
Excellent work, Frank Pulaski!
-
Also, I think Amy should market one of those iPhone apps that gives your digital photos a retro-70s look. It would be called "Poehleroids". Call me, Amy! I've got ideas!
-
I know she's got a thousand other things to do, but Amy Poehler's Weekly Rap Battle would be the ultimate CBB podcast spinoff show.
-
Side note: I think "Ruin Your Favorite Song" has potential to be a strong recurring segment. And a general Earwolf note: I don't think they played it on this particular show, but I kinda like that Old Spice ad that's popped up on some other shows recently. It's SHORT, it's funny, it's tongue-in-cheek but it's still effective in getting the name of the product out there. And also it's very SHORT. And as far as I know it's a harmless product -- I don't think I've ever heard of anyone getting armpit cancer from a roll-on deodorant. Another thing I appreciate about that ad is it's brevity, which is to say it's very SHORT. Pepsi still sucks (never forget).

Appreciate your thoughts, CEO Jeff ... yeah man, I look forward to Earwolf trying out more and more new and different things in the future. I think the willingness to experiment makes this little corner of teh internets really special.

Wait, what? I haven't listened to this yet. I will momentarily. Har Mar's made some great songs, not sure what he's up to lately, maybe this show will help me find out. And Macaulay Culkin is the guest???!!!???!!!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Wow. The tabloids have been making it sound like Macaulay is in pretty dire shape, which I hope is not the case. Or at least I hope the tabloids are guilty of over-exaggerating. Comments I've read on this board make it sound like this show won't answer my questions. Nevertheless, I am very curious. Wait, does Har Mar really want to call his show "Nocturnal Emotions"??? Maybe I don't want to listen to this ...

Aimee sounds great in "unplugged" mode. Interesting discussion about how the economics of the music biz actually effects the way the music sounds. Looking forward to more shows!

Brandon Johnson might be my favorite Earwolf guest. I need to check out more of his stuff ... I really only know of him thru this show and his appearance on "Who Charted". Him and Nick Offerman should go into the carpentry business together. I am writing this comment right after I heard Brandon say "If there's too many hands on something, it starts to look stupid". Goddamn, that is the perfect description of so many big budget/small minded movies.

Herein I earn my Earwolf SuperGeek stripes: I heard Brent doing that "Cool Days, Red Hot Nights" song a long time ago, when he sang it over the phone on the "Eardrop" mini-Podcast. Up until now, I totally thought it was Paul Rust singing that song. Now, months and months later THE TRUTH IS REVEALED. It's hard to find specific things on that "Eardrop" thing, but another thing that's worth searching out is Brent calling in as "Jeff from SBC".
-
"Coozy copy", and "Coozy cufflinks" ... one of the things I love about Howard is that he's always creating new linguistic forms, 24/7.
-
I loved Chelsea's interaction with Hermes the Goose. They should start their own spinoff podcast together. And to Mrs. Peretti: Good job! You raised a fine young lady!

Episode 38 — Star Power
daveB from Oakland replied to admin's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
Great episode ... Lennon Parham is a super-funny lady. -
I love Besser as Pope "Eggs" Benedict the 16th. Scott seemed genuinely taken aback that the Pope was a Hitler Youth. Maybe he hadn't heard about that. Truth is stranger than fiction sometimes. I don't think anyone mentioned the "Choclateer" sketch from "Mr. Blow" -- that one was great!! Totally had the Bob N' Dave magic of the old days. I'd love it if they gave the audio podcast/ sketch thing another try ... they work together so well.
