Episode 69 — what.
daveB from Oakland replied to JulyDiaz's topic in The Fogelnest Files with Jake Fogelnest
Okay, I was making fun of Tom Snyder, but I don't think he was a garbage person. Granted, he said a lot of dumb stuff, but that kind of made him more interesting than a lot of folks on television. And while he might have been obnoxious to some guests, those were still people who weren't getting on any other shows. Bo seems like a good dude, but Jon Wurster has a copyright on the word "what". and all variants with extened "aaaaaaaa"s or "uuuuuuu"s His mom threw Paul's Weird Al records in the trash because she thought they were "satanic". EVERYTHING COMES BACK TO WEIRD AL, PEOPLE!!! (I guess in some quarters, having parents who obsessively worry about the influence of Satan is considered "normal"). -
Episode 69 — what.
daveB from Oakland replied to JulyDiaz's topic in The Fogelnest Files with Jake Fogelnest
Tom Snyder ... holy fucking shit, Tom Snyder. Look at the beginning of that Weird Al video. He's talking about how Al's first hit was a parody of "a song originally done by a band called 'the Knacks' and that song was called 'My Sharoma' " ... I mean good lord, he somehow managed to fuck up the band name AND the song title! Snyder had some amazing things on his show, but I think he was also one of the most awkward broadcasters of all time. Sometimes I wonder how he managed to get on television at all. Jake, could I request that you do an episode devoted to Snyder? Maybe have a panel of Snyder-appreciators? I know there's already some DVD compilations of Snyder musical guests and stuff, but with your curatorial instincts I bet you could come up with some interesting stuff. Just a thought ... -

When I first started listening to the Best Show, circa 2006, I thought Newbridge was a real place. I started catching on 3 or 4 episodes in. I was a #sucker Downloading now ... what are "para-social relationships"? That sounds gross. But I shall listen nevetheless, because this is the FILES and I am a Files 'phile. KEEP ON FILING!! (That's something that all the cool kids are saying now). -

I asked Santa for an Andy Daly podcast, and he came through! Fuck yeah Santa Claus! You're cool with me, Santa. I don't care what everybody else says about you. Me and Santa = Best buds. Yep. -

You are insulting Vance the Puppet, who LIVES to listen to Prog rock music and talk about it. Vance the Puppet says SHUT UP Deathman. He's gonna get his roommate Gary to bop you on the NOSE. #ProgIsGoodForYourHead http://wfmu.org/flashplayer.php?version=2&show=43531&archive=75057&starttime=2:27:30 -
This one was more painful bad than fun bad. Tom Cruise just made me angry. I can't think of anyone more ill-suited to be a "charismatic rock dude".

YES!! (Howard is also delightful).

The power couple are quite impressive ... and Scott's alright, too.

I looked this up on my GooGoo Glass: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urinary_meatus

Episode 259 — Charlotte's Website

Regina Crisp can't learn new songs and can't even get all the way through her signature song. These are classic symptoms of adult-onset AFHV. -

Mr. G's southern accent and inquisitive personality made me feel like he might be a mellower younger brother of Huell Howser (R.I.P.) -

I enjoyed the relatively mellow version of DAG. And I enjoyed hearing him without Carolla in the room. -

Regina Crisp needs to learn some new songs. She should take a cue from this lady, whose action-packed medley is capped off by a stellar rendition of the Kit-Kat jingle. -
I love any Who Charted with Jersey talk. Retta's awesome. So how 'bout getting Aubrey Plaza on the show? And the rest of the Parks crew, for that matter. But Aubrey especially ... I feel like her and Howard share a particular type of offbeat vibe.

Episode 8 — Who’s Got My Goo Balls?
daveB from Oakland replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Analyze Phish
How about this? Analyze Phish Mini-episodes that are done like DVD commentary tracks. So you could have one or two long Phish songs played in their entirety. Have Harris and guest(s) talk over the song throughout. Point out what parts they like/don't like, etcetera. Mix it the way DVD commentaries are mixed ... the conversation on top of the song is the main thing you wanna hear, but you have the music underneath at enough of a volume that listeners have a good idea of what's going on. If Harris requests extra attention be paid to a certain passage, everyone can hush up for a moment ... and the volume of the music turned up a little bit ... Might be fun. -

I get where you're coming from DEATHMAN, but I enjoyed hearing her rant on the show, and also hearing how the other panelists tried to tentatively interact with her. My impression is that Natalie has a bad case of Peter Pan syndrome, but I found her aggressive energy to be infectious, even though some of the stuff she said was boneheaded. And I also enjoyed her crazy daughter disrupting things. When her daughter becomes one of those goddamn rotten teenagers, I have a feeling Natlie will find hereself walking back on some of her punk/anarchism ideals. I dunno. There's still some summer-of-love hippies who haven't broken out of their peace&love dipshit routine as they cross over into their senior years (Don't get me wrong, I love peace&love ... but you know the hippie caricature I'm talking about). Similarly, there's some aging 80s hardcore kids who've gotten kinda trapped in the persona they constructed as youths. But it's all good. It's all part of the human experience. It's all part of what keeps this big world spinnin' . -
Episode 106 — Rainbow Party Pitch
daveB from Oakland replied to JulyDiaz's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
I think it was the first time ... i watched the vid last night , I highly recommend watching it, especially for all the Eric the intern stuff. You can see how Eric's become an eerie doppelganger of Engineer Brett. And speaking of doppelgangers, how about that first USC Trojans interview ...where Eric was talking to someone who sounded just like Eric?? Freaky stuff. With each new Eric the intern appearance, I am more and more willing to join a cult that he leads. Regarding the trumpet-hater: I saw bits of that when it went viral a few weeks back, but at that time it felt too harsh to watch all the way through. Much more enjoyable in the context of the show. But now I'm really curious about that dude. Have any internet sleuths figured out who he is? Is there any legitimacy to his claimed connections to Dylan and the Dead? Keep it going, Matt and associates. Best podcast in the universe!! -
Kay Bee! Kurt's great. Downloading now ... was hoping this ep would have lots of Jersey talk, but not sure that'll happen if Howard's tardy ...
