  1. Showdown at the villain's private office, which includes a funhouse hall of mirrors????

When I saw Enter the Dragon for the first time, I decided then and there that if I ever became a supervillain of some sorts, I would totally have a hidden mirror room to lure people into behind my office. I totally understand the choice they went with here.

  2. Speaking of Tommy Wiseau if you goto imdb and click on tommys name..

    You'll find this little gem..

Stars: Mindy Robinson, Bai Ling, Tommy Wiseau, Eddie Deezen, Lexi Belle a porn star.

This movie has a kickstarter that is only trying to raise $50k and a cast that is basically the two original "stars" and then like 5 pornstars, one of whom said in her interview "we don't know if my character is good or bad yet." Normally I would say that is a bad sign, but hopefully they continue to not put any real effort into this whatsoever because otherwise it won't be a true sequel.

As for PATROTM, that also looks pretty bad

  3. Wow that poster looks thrown together. It's like they caught Liotta in the middle of a DeNiro impression

Go look at that picture and then imagine you just pulled your dick out in front of the 3 of them. I'm pretty sure that - large or small - they are all making the exact faces in that poster that they would in that situation

  4. Not sure if it qualifies as a horror movie strictly speaking, but....

    Arnold Schwarzeneggar vs Gabriel Byrne

    -----In------

    End of Days (1999)

    IMDB synopses:

At the end of the century, Satan visits New York in search of a bride. It's up to an ex-cop who now runs an elite security outfit to stop him.

Doesn't the devil like bang a mom and daughter at the same time and they morph into each other or something? That is all I remember from watching that movie like 10 years ago.

  5. This Chevy Chase & Jonathan Taylor Thomas film from 1995, which sports a 14% on Rotten Tomatoes and features the review blurb, "Only the smoldering sexual tension between Chevy Chase and George Wendt keeps Man of the House from being a complete waste of time," is a decent pick for HDTGM.

The trailer is here and entire movie is free on Youtube. I would link to that, but when movies are linked to this forum they tend to get taken down right quick.

I remembered it because of this thread: http://forum.earwolf.com/topic/18669-this-is-hilarious/

Wherein Amazon Instant basically predicted it to be the next movie they're going to do based on the movies they've already done.

It's a movie about how JTT's dad bangs his secretary and leaves his mom for her. Then JTT's mom starts dating, but JTT hates all men for what his dad did and drives all the suitors away. Enter Chevy Chase in arguably the worst role of his career which is saying a lot; he's a stale, boring dork who is trying to sleep with JTT's mom (Farrah Fawcett). Chevy Chase is a lawyer and while all this is going on, a mobster threatens to murder him for putting him in jail.

It's even odder because if I remember, he acts like a prosecutor in court but acts as if he's a regular criminal lawyer when he's not in court. I think he's even a partner in a firm. I haven't seen it in awhile but it bothered me at the time when I was half watching it while playing Game Gear. It was a favorite of my sister. Anyways, JTT gets him to join a father-son bonding group of white people acting like Indians lead by Geroge Wendt, on the actually sound logic that it is so lame that it would drive Chevy Chase away. Mobsters then end up attacking on their retreat...it's a convoluted movie with a ton of random stuff going on at all times.

Also, there is a 2005 movie of the same name starring Tommy Lee Jones that looks even worse (9% on RT). I say both movies should be discussed in this thread as homage to the 1995 one which is all over the place and has almost no cohesion whatsoever.

  6. I mean I agree with OP that I wish they used the forum more because there are some legit recommendations in here, but that post was pretty harsh. I still love the podcast. I think there was a conscious effort on the part of Paul to avoid movies that every other bad movie podcast/show/column/etc has done - Gymkata not withstanding - but movies like Blank Check, Gothica, Vibrations, My Father the Hero and Ecks vs Sever are all great recommendations that they should consider doing.

My two big things are: 1.) this is the most commented forum on Earwolf and it is completely ignored by the podcast it supports, which is odd; and 2.) I would love to hear Mantzoukas tee off on The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and Dreamcatcher so bad

  7. I think Blaine is doing a good job and I was really skeptical at first. The problem was that Sark was the host and Gerry was the star and neither of them are here anymore. It's hard to compete with that. Plus, Sarah was a great way to get them off tangents and she hasn't really been here either.

However, I think that it's still very listenable, it's just not as good as it was at its peak. I would love it if one or all of Agee, Sark, Telfer, Dave Anthony or someone else rolled up static characters and joined for real. They might as well just get rid of Winter and let Gerry make a new guy if he ever comes back. I agree with Brian that part of the idea of the show was them going off on tangents like they would if they were playing for fun, but they're at their best when they're actually trying to play.

I don't know why they're so scared of everything, either. Blaine seems to make paper tiger after paper tiger for them to fight, they should just go toe to toe with someone. Gerry would have picked a fight with those first 3 giants no question.

  8. I started reading the reviews for this movie and it gave me an idea for a drinking game called "Left Behind Roulette." Basically, you and another person would take turns opening up the reviews off its Rotten Tomatoes page. You then have to drink every time the word "Sharknado" is written in that review.

Unfortunately, I only found 4 instances of that word out of the 30 reviews I cntrl+F'ed through. What is amazing though is that this movie currently sits at 3% approval on RT! And there are only 30 reviews, so it's just 1 positive one. The number of Sharknado references in professional reviews is higher than the % approval rate. Really let that sink in. I don't know if we'll ever see anything like this again.

  9. I kinda want them to do Gothika. I admit that I haven't seen this movie in probably a decade, but I remember it was like if M. Night Shamalan had directed Shutter Island

It's so bad. It was one of the first movies I thought of when I heard this podcast get announced oh so long ago. If you really dive into the plot it just gets weirder and weirder the more you think about it. I don't know how they even pitched it - ghosts of girls from snuff films from her jail warden husband's....business?.....selling the movies? I still am not sure what was happening

  10. Choctaw - [Green Day] used to pull up someone to play guitar at every one of their shows. It was fun, but that's not really what you (Interpol) do

Paul Banks - Yeah, we're not really "jammy" live

Benny Schwazzz - I once went to a Black Crows and Stephen Hawkings came up and played guitar

Choctaw - That's crazy, that's the craziest thing I've ever heard

"Dante" - I once went and saw American Idiot - the play - on Broadway, and it was just a room with a mirror in it

Everyone then tries to top Horatio's line there which is impossible because that was a fucking perfect line

  11. If you want the crew to do a movie, the trick is to:

1.) start a thread on the message board

2.) hope it gets a lot of comments

3.) realize that the message board has no impact on whether they pick a movie or not

4.) figure out who the guest is ahead of time

5.) bribe them to ask Paul to do the movie for their ep

I think if you follow those steps, you should be good to go!

  12. here are the numbers per replies..

    The Happening 191 replies

    Southland Tales 105 replies

    Dreamcatcher 86 replies

    LOL 135 replies

This is like the most frequently posted on message board on Earwolf and yet none of the popular choices have been done. It's kind of weird. They even set up that whole "For Your Consideration" site, then had people choose from a bunch of movies that weren't being discussed on the forums and then even ignored those. They just pick movies at random.

Also, Dreamcatcher is a better choice than The Happening, LOL and Southland Tales.
