  1. Ha! Sorry to disappoint you Jack, but I will not defend the internet's free speech bullsh*t. Mostly because there are teenagers on the internet. I'm a firm believer in people proving they're worthy to use something before having a crack at it; if you need to take/pass a test before being trusted to drive a car, I don't know why there are no barriers elsewhere in society. Advanced technology like the internet shouldn't be used by people who think they don't need vaccinations (hell, those people shouldn't be allowed to have children since they'll just endanger those kids' lives with their backwards way of thinking), politicians shouldn't be able to become state representatives if they can't hang with a grade school science curriculum, and people shouldn't just be able to spit whatever awful thought instantly pops into their head onto the internet. People should have to prove they won't be shit-heads before handling some things. Some barriers in society for people to go over are a good thing; lest we all become those big, fat slobs at the end of Wall-E... Especially after Gamergate. I can ignore a lot of that racist/misogynist/human garbage-stuff, but not video game stuff. I frequent sites like Kotaku, Giant Bomb, etc. constantly, so holy sh** was that awful to live through. And I'm proud that so many "social justice warriors" came out to fight back; because, at least on some level, we know that we can't give up and let those people rule that conversation. Good voices need to drown it out; there is more good than bad, and it IS a shame (thought I think people recognize on this side of the comments too) that "I enjoy that" usually translates to silence on articles. The gateway talk briefly touched up on Jason - about how you needed to go write a letter to a newspaper or whatever - is something that I would've loved to see implemented in more things in modern technology. The "dumbing down" of every conversation in society is directly to the rapid eradication of our "gate keepers". The barrier that someone must overcome - shit, even just signing up for an account on a site (which stupid DISQUS and Facebook have largely destroyed) was an effective enough deterrent we can see now. Just that extra bit of time it took was enough to squash that stupid thought. But going ever more, "Instant gratification" is equal parts moving more and more away from "stewing on that idea" and really reflecting upon it. That's one of the many reasons I hate Twitter. That shit has never once been interested in ELEVATING conversation. If it was, then it would've gone with the opposite idea and instituted a minimum word/character count. Because anyone who's ever sat a test in school and thought to themselves, "I need HOW MANY MORE WORDS for this stupid answer?!" is the same type of idiot who does the dumbest stuff online. So having people just spit out some random letters, misspelled words, hashtags... it just encourages them to spit out whatever half-baked seed of an idea that happens to pop into their dumb little head. It's awful. It's the worst thing to happen to conversation.... that's it. I was going to say, "since (something)", but it doesn't need it. Twitter is bullshit. It's weird because I just saw on en.rocketnews24.com an article about a girl who created this program called, "Re:Think". An application that simply asks you to re-read something before posting it. They even go into the science a bit about it during her talk - and I quote: "It was after learning of a particular fact about adolescent brains that she was able to come up with her brilliant idea. The fact is, as our brains develop, they develop from from back to front, the front part of the brain not being fully developed until around age 25. That front part of our brains is what helps us with decision-making. This is why kids are more likely to act on impulses without considering the consequences." Granted, I'm pretty sure the idea of the computer throwing your comment back in your face before you commit to post it was an idea some web-comic did in jest awhile ago. Still, it made sense back then.

    Episode 172 β€” Big Grande

So Old Man Besser - having just learned what a Chatbot is - really doubts that a chatbot will say random stuff like, "I'm a unicorn"? Sounds like he should spend a few minutes talking to Cleverbot. I just had this conversation right now: lol. Technology angers Besser so much... Good ep though! I mean, I laugh so hard when Besser goes crazy on "the youth of today". The improvisors here were fantastic and the sketches were hilarious. I'm always going to be tempted to throw a chair through a window whenever I see people dancing now!
  3. VinsanityV22

    Episode 235.5 β€” Sklarbro County 140

Awesome! Nice little change up to hear the Wrestle-talk I did not know that DVK and Dan St. Germain were going to go into this. It's great. It's always fun to hear wrestling fans talk about it in a knowledgeable way. There ARE those young kids and, "It's real to ME, dammit!" fans, but they're such... not representative of what a lot of fans get out of it. Like any other form of entertainment, we know it's fake*, but it's fun following the players you like, and seeing where the puzzle pieces are falling. Unfortunately, the WWE keeps laying these puzzle pieces on the table, and the RIGHT WHEN YOU'RE GONNA FINISH THE PUZZLE, Vince McMahon and everyone else up in the Corporate Office just slam their fist on the table and punch you and say, "You idiot! Why are you wasting your time with this?" and then hand you a different puzzle. Ugh. Very frustrating. Granted, sometimes it's inevitable; when guys get injured, plans change. But a lot of times, it's just stupid. * - fake as in predetermined. Let's be honest, and compare it more to stuntman work and/or dancing; it takes both guys to pull off these moves. But they're still physical, you still need to be athletic to do it, and people do retire from injuries and wrestle while injured constantly. It is disingenuous to just blanket statement-it all as, "fake". Really devalues what these guys and gals do in the ring, y'know? And especially nowadays, where their business plans fall entirely on the WWE Network? And rival promotions like (the MUCH BETTER) Lucha Underground are so easy to find now? It's baffling they do this crap in the DirecTV/internet age where you can catch Ring of Honor, Reality of Wrestling, Global Force Wrestling, New Japan Pro, Shine, Chikara, Dragon Gate, Lucha Underground, etc. online? WWE's method (madness) is really baffling whenever they piss off fans so much, and continue to ignore not just so much talent in their own locker room, but rival promotions who are doing it right. But a big part of it that I wish they brought up was the Philly crowd. They are some of the most vocal fans and constantly hijack things with cheers. Which, when it's good, is awesome. When it's bad, it's terrible. REALLY feel bad for Roman Reigns at the end of that Rumble. The guy is pretty well-liked, despite his stupid canned insincere promos. He did not deserve the boos he got; those were boos for so much more, but it all got shoveled on him after being all bloody and tired and - realistically - doing a pretty good job in the Rumble match. He is being pushed above other guys who are ready, and everyone can sense that he's not ready and it's not earned, but man - he did not deserve those boos at the end there. They should've finished with the championship match between Cena, Rollins and Lesnar; much better match. All those guys kicked ass and that match told a much better story in the ring. But yeah, that's too "inside baseball". I just was glad to hear some wrestle-talk. Been awhile Another good ep, you guys! Great music this time too!

    Episode 331 β€” Secret Superlatives

Oh my God; this was hilarious! I really hope, sometime in 2015, that Benjamin Button and Todd are on the same show. Since they both are young kids with HUGE DICKS, I'm sure they'd have tons to talk about
  5. VinsanityV22

    Episode 102 β€” Tango & Cash

Holy shit; that new theme song is fantastic!
  6. Damn you! Mr. Bowie's story about Ghostbusters and his son and Sigourney Weaver ("No you fucking idiot....") made me spit out my drink! I'm always laughing when I listen to this, but usually not quite hard enough to spit in the rare instance I chance taking a sip of something. DAMN YOU!!! lol xD
  7. VinsanityV22

    Episode 233.5 β€” Sklarbro County 138

Any story that has a break signaled by, "All of a sudden, there were a bunch of drunk people around" is a GREAT. STORY. Awesome job, DVK! And mystery busboy! The, "Turns out he died" was a PERFECT note, too. Hilarious. And I'm sure you made Wahlberg proud! Great episode in general guys! Though DVK needs to work on his Walken though - he whispered a bit too much, so it sounded like Mark Wahlberg doing a Walken impression. Jess Watkins' story was amazing and she was a treat - especially joining in on the eggnog story. Great episode all around, you guys! Great stories, great jokes, and - most importantly - great Chili's (I gotta try that Dr.Pepper's BBQ sauce)!
  8. I've always wanted Horatio to do something with Lauren on CBB Both are so good at saying such weird things and derailing other people - this was a clash of titans, here Loved it!

    Episode 101 β€” Xanadu: LIVE!

"β™ͺGra-a-a-pes β™ͺ Come out and champa-a-a-agne!" Boom. Next HDTGM shirt right there (^-^)
  10. I really want Armin Weitzman to co-host this show now if Matt ever can't make it in. lol. Jimmy really needs to listen to the wonderful eps of "Who Charted" where he... uh, "backed up" Kulap in Howard's stead. That was a fantastic week!
  11. VinsanityV22

    Episode 328 β€” Beatle Heaven

Man, what a great episode! So early in the year, and yet, I'm pretty sure I'll be voting for this one when the Best Of's come around at the end of 2015! SO HILARIOUS. Mike Hanford is great; I've also never heard a situation where the character's established rules - in this case, about death - broke a game of 'Would you Rather?', lol. Anders is rad (can't wait for Workaholics and Broad City to start up!) and it was awesome hearing his rap at the end over the plugs theme! 'American Football' sounded great. I got nothing against Emo-Pop/Punkish stuff; I listened to that stuff in High School and the acoustic versions here sounded fantastic. I really lost it when I heard some of these lines. "I just told them not to tell anybody - I think that should do it", "He wanted to switch instruments mid-song (what!?!) Yeah he was crazy", all the talk about "Unpainful"... and "Now here's a question for all of you: Refresh me on who Stu Studclif is" - oh man. I was laughing so loud! Hanford was hilarious! Really loved this episode, Scott. Thanks for the b-b-b-bonus-s-s-s episode this week! It was AWESOME! I hope John Lennon and Michael Jackson show up on a future episode and talk about how it is after dying. I'm pretty sure, for some reason (lol), their experiences and rulesets will not line up 1-to-1.
  12. If it makes you feel better, Jack, you DON'T harvest little girls' organs in Bioshock. The whole point of those games is to offer (at least binary) choice. Only monsters who will get the bad ending opt to murder those little girls instead of rescue them and help them escape that place... good to know that about Brett now, at least Great episode though! Really funny topic and a great, great discussion as always. I did enjoy the weird format change-up where you interrupted the previously recorded stuff to cut in on a chat with Jack and Brett. Even if Brett is a monster when he plays Bioshock and now the whole internet knows it, lol
  13. VinsanityV22

    Episode 100.5 β€” Minisode 100.5

Paul! Paul... the term is, "Spiritual Successor". i know you were struggling to find that term when defending your use of the term, 'sequel' during this minisode; there ya go! It's a relationship more akin to, say, how the 3 films in Edgar Wright's Cornetto Trilogy are connected. Not direct sequels. I get that man... but you need to communicate it better
  14. VinsanityV22

Episode 327 β€” Bang! Bang! Into Your Mouth!

After that masterful 'House of Pies' sketch, I'm very disappointed that this ep isn't called, "You sausage-filled maniac!" or, "You big hunking- big dicked monster, you!", lol. Also, being real here, I'm also disappointed that that excellent "House of Lies LIVE" HBO special Ben did last year wasn't called, "House of Pies" -- it was perfect! Scotty Auks handed you the perfect name on a platter and you turned it down! FOR. SHAME.
  15. Oh my God, Swaim is onto something! I demand "Cracked Addicts" become canon for what you call your fans! lol. Put that on a shirt and sell it in the store! I want, like, 5! ... he's also right about Spongebob too. That movie is actually still really funny, and more importantly, it's story is really well constructed. Especially for a comedy; lots of good pacing and nice beats to it's story. Good character arcs and core themes (the whole, "it's awesome being a Kid. Kids can do anything!" is such a nice nod to it's Nickelodeon heritage as well, despite them not even using "The First Network for Kids" tagline when Spongebob debuted, and being incredibly shitty in general since that movie came out). Swaim's always right, is basically what I'm saying
  16. VinsanityV22

    Episode 29 β€” Coptalk

Why would it ever be on a network about POP CULTURE? They're talking about real issues; not movies. I have no idea why some people are so butt-hurt that Paul Scheer and Earwolf have a sister network now about pop culture stuff, but it's really annoying every time I hear the sentiment.
  17. VinsanityV22

    Episode 29 β€” Coptalk

This was a great, great podcast. Even though nothing can make the NYPD seem like anything more than blue thugs and entitled, immature children right now, it is good to hear from a cop. Specifically, a GOOD one. For everything going on, my rational part of the brain is trying to keep in mind that the shitheads out there are the minority of cops, but man is it hard after seeing the things the NYPD are doing en masse. Currently. RIGHT NOW. "New York's Finest", my ass. Seriously; boo'ing the Mayor at a funeral, and turning your backs on him? They're acting like kids in high school who hate the guy giving an assembly - numbnuts, all of 'em. Specially that fuck-face who's speaking for all of them (Patrick Lynch). Trying to blame democrats in general. Trying to refuse to do their jobs - wtf is wrong with the lot of 'em? It's like you guys said about respect; you can have a lack of respect for authority, but you have to respect the law (especially when you're breaking the law). But NOOOOO; they're entitled retards who are a disgrace to the city, their fallen colleagues and common sense. Nothing any intelligent person could say can change that because we're not dealing with intelligent people. It's infuriating. -- This kind of thing needs to happen more often though. I applaud you guys for doing it. It's not hard to talk to people, and it's not hard to explain yourselves. Officer Escobar demonstrated that perfectly here. But it's not just what happened; it's how it happened. And how these PD's are handling these situations. I read on Gawker something that sums it up perfectly, so I'm just going to re-post, "... But if the deaths of Liu and Ramos gave the police department a moment to solemnly reflect and an opportunity to reconnect with a citizenry it had alienated with abuse and violence, they were squandered within only a few hours, when Patrick Lynch, the head of the police department's largest union, told reporters that there was 'blood on the hands' of the mayor and protesters." -- they're just blaming other people, and alienating themselves more and more from the people they're ostensibly there to "serve and protect". Or at the very least, co-exist with. Like they're above everyone else in the City - which, if nothing else, having two of your own die from gunshot should show PRETTY CLEARLY you're human too, assholes. But nope; back to blaming everyone, shirking any and all responsibility and looking down on everyone - even De Blasio and Obama - like they're beneath cops. -- Ugh. It's too much right now. It's impossible NOT to hate Cops. Especially the NYPD. But at the very least, I don't hate this guy. He was great; this was super informational, and an entertaining conversation to boot; he was intelligent and funny and fit in with the always great Kamau Bell & Ethan Berlin beautifully. I respect the LAPD a HELL of alot more now, lol. But shitty cops in Ferguson & New York are doing their best to irrepreably ruining the whole damn profession as far as I'm concerned. I can see how this podcast was a great opportunity to be, like, a release. To put it all out there, and digest good information, and feel better about everything - at least a little. But things seem to have somehow managed to have gotten worse since you recorded. Maybe it's my proximity to NYC? Again though, I'm just gonna repost something written on Gawker: "The NYPD chose to make a grand statement against their mayor at the funeral of a comrade because the mayor admitted, in the aftermath of the death of Eric Garner, that he had the gall to tell his black son to be careful around cops. This admission was, by far, the most relatable and agreeable moment of de Blasio's short tenure as mayor of New York City. This was him doing what we want our politicians to do: to stand with us, to understand, articulate and endorse our points of view. This is why de Blasio–a staunch liberalβ€”was elected, and in that moment he delivered on the promise of his mayorship. That is what the NYPD were turning their backs on. Protesting at a funeral is defensible; making a grand gesture of intimidation against a politician's, and a city's, humanity is not." *sigh* Why can't everyone in that uniform be as good as Mr. Escobar here? -- I would love to hear an episode 2 of this someday. Especially if you guys get an NYPD officer on to talk about this shit they're doing right now, man. ... Thanks for letting me vent, guys Great podcast!

    Episode 100 β€” Junior

I'm surprised they were so baffled by how a kid could exist in Schwarzenegger. I mean, there was that story about that one freaky dude who got pregnant for whatever reason (just to prove he could do it?). I mean, I don't care to look it up, but it was a huge story for awhile - I'm pretty sure that would be your no.1 thing to go Google before coming in on the podcast, yeah? Just answer all your questions. Paul's right though; should've just been some "magical realism" situation. Just needs a flying horse, like that masterclass in Magical Realism, the classic Winter's Tale The guy's name was Thomas Beatie, btw.
  19. VinsanityV22

    Episode BO2014.2 β€” Best of 2014 Pt 2

I am firmly on "Team PFT" here. It's, "all of a sudden", and Scott is the only one who I've ever heard who says it incorrectly. I was completely unaware that this was even something people GOT WRONG until I started to listen to these podcasts. Gling Glang! And oh man, I forgot that, "Technicality, no-done-boo-over" is a saying that Scott has coined this year! Against Len Wiseman! Wonderful!
  20. VinsanityV22

    Episode 1520 - Adam Ferrara

^^ This is for my other post ^^ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uyOI7jH5rmk AARRGGHHH. Why can't I post media anymore? Why is ONE Youtube embed over the limit? This thing has been broken for a little while now. :/

    Episode 1520 - Adam Ferrara

Deeply Ashamed in Matt right now. Telling your daughter about the Nativity when she - like all children (Protip there) - just wanted to know about Santa? And then you didn't know what to tell her? Tsk, tsk, tsk, Uh, hello? The BurgerMeister MeisterBerger? Fred Astaire postman? The Winter Warlock? Just let Rankin Bass handle this for you in the future, my friend Although y'know... in English. I guess Warner Bros. keeps pulling them down from Youtube, as this is the best I could do over there. It's on Vimeo though!
  22. okay so I'm behind and catching up on my podcasts. Still though, this was hilarious. There was tons I knew of beforehand (like you said, Stan Lee has that Superheroes show on History that I caught a few episodes of before I realized History Channel is terrible and stopped watching it), but it was still fun when filtered through you guys. The little tangent about the running guy? "He should be committing crimes!" - I was cracking up! Great ep!
  23. Never thought I'd see NDT on an Earwolf show - thought Nerdist snapped up all his podcast appearances I guess I'm a bad fan though, because this is the first I heard of his podcast. Thank you for making me aware of StarTalk! I'm checking that out this instant - DL'ing the Part 1 with the Mythbusters right now!
  24. VinsanityV22

    Episode 1519 - Nick Kroll

Man, I just started listening to this and already I'm dying - ON THE AD! When you're cracking on up on the ad, you know you're in for a good time. Please put, "We're not talking about them; we're talking about people who have feet" into the next show intro. Oh man, that line is ridiculously funny You guys are, far and away, the best at the ads. I still think that the Todd Glass "Nature Box" ad was better than some whole other episodes of other podcasts, lol EDIT: Yeah; this one was gold! "Didn't make me uncomfortable... not unlike that child in the toilet" is amazing out of context!
  25. I'm looking at the 1:50:37 running time and wondering how they could fill this up with U2 news? Maybe they finally got some fuckin' shirts? Maybe Huey Lewis and the News will drop by? Y'know, U2-related stuff. The mind boggles at the possibilities when these two bring their comprehensive and encyclopedic knowledge of U2 to bare on the World. Thanks for the early Christmas Gift, Scott and Scott! Now, I just gotta finish downloading and listen to it.
