I can see how some people feel Splice might fit into that HDTGM sub-category of 'What the fuck am I watching?' - but I don't really think it does. It has a high production value, great performances, and pays respectful homage to esteemed cinematic and literary entities from Frankenstein to Metropolis. And it's not really all that far out there - in fact a lot of the movie is downright subdued. So I respectfully disagree that Splice should be featured on HDTGM. There's plenty of legitimate crap and unhinged flicks that deserve the HDTGM treatment.

That burger sounded hella good.

Episode 130 β Behind The Scenes
EarBear replied to admin's topic in Affirmation Nation with Bob Ducca
What a great poem. -
Great episode, strongly agree with Scheer on the forum thing. I really think it would facilitate interaction and encourage people to post more. The shows here I am most dedicated to is CBB, HDTGM and WC, and I must say I was thrilled when Who Charted started doing ads for Adam and Eve. I feel like there's a great deal of adult focused products like that, and alcoholic spirits, etc., that are a natural fit for placements in these great shows. I have worked in new media adverting for 8 years now, and the transition from old to new media presents the opportunity to pinpoint the focus of a marketing message - it's what I like to call the difference between marketing with a hand grenade or marketing with a sniper rifle. Paul is so right about that billboard cost vs. spending online, spending on traditional media is so high and so ineffective when the product you're pushing requires a thoughtful and personal engagement. Fascinating discussion, guys, thanks a lot.

This episode made me cry tears of laughter at my fucking desk... My face was leaking like Chip Gardner's...

Bumping this. It is on Netflix Instant, guys. It also has Vanilla Ice dropping insightful, poetic dialogue like "You need to drop that zero and get with the hero..."

Episode 86 β The Home Inside My Head
EarBear replied to admin's topic in Affirmation Nation with Bob Ducca
Ready to hang out? Bob, I thought we had plans to get together this weekend and make gluten-free pumpkin muffins? And if that's my copy of 'A New Earth: Awakening to Your Lifeβs Purpose' you've dog eared, I hope you remember to iron out the pages before you give it back. You know how frightened I am of creases. -

Questions For the Director of PUNISHER WAR ZONE, Lexi Alender
EarBear replied to paulscheer's topic in How Did This Get Made?
Questions for Lexi: 1) There were murmurs before this film came out that the distributor, Lionsgate, was considering cutting it to get a PG-13 rating. Many members of the nerd community were concerned at this idea, as the character of Punisher is so intrinsically related to graphic violence. After seeing your film, it is hard to imagine cutting it to PG-13 was ever a feasible option, so was this actually on the table. or was it a marketing trick? 2) Did you watch the first two Punisher films, with Dolph Lundgren and Tom Jane, respectively, to prepare for this film? What is your opinion of those movies? -
Awesome...

I heard this movie has unicorns.

Kulap mentioned whocharted.com - looks like there might be a site coming there sometime in the future?

Thirded. And if that bear isn't actively raping Brendan Fraser, he's definitely considering it.

Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star (2011)
EarBear replied to brendan.orourke's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
I am still pushing for this one. According to Box Office Mojo it is currently pulling in a whopping $33 per screen. Which at an average ticket price of $7 translates to about 4 - 5 people a day per screen. Assuming 4 - 5 screenings a day, then we're talking about one lonely person sitting through this sack of shit per screening. I really want the HDTGM to partake in that scene... -
Spot on, Chase. I think that's the plot hole Tim was referring to. If you guys do this movie, you should get Fred Savage or co-star / future hipster goddess Jenny Lewis on as the guest...
-
I should clarify, that car commercial makes even less sense when it is played within the context of the entire feature film...

Foxtrot1, i quickly scanned through eBay and Amazon - looks like you can score those graphic novels for a couple bucks a piece. Also, the more I reflect on this pile of shit, the more I want the HDTGM crew to rip into it. I want to note that I saw this movie twice - once in the theater, then again on DVD about a year and a half later, because I needed to reconnect with it to understand just how bad it is. There are so many 'what the fuck am I watching' moments in this movie. This may be the best one:
-
I love that the Eckhart cameo is in the beginning, as if he said, "Fuck this shitty movie, I'm outta here!".
-
This "came out" like a year or so ago. I was kinda hoping it would take off like 'The Room', but I think it might be too awful. I still haven't seen it, truth be told, but it looks like easily one of the worst movies ever made...
-
I strongly feel that even if someone enjoyed this film, they must still wonder how the fuck it got made. Unless they are entirely detached from reality. Which may actually be a prerequisite for liking this film, so perhaps I have answered my own pondering...
