Oh boy, things are starting to take a turn. Quick everyone, look at this picture of a dog wearing hipster glasses!

There was a time when Beau Bridges' name in the credits was the sign of a good movie.

Yeah, I think one of the things that helps the original is being set in the jungle, it doesn't necessarily put it in any specific time period. Putting the action in downtown LA with rival Jamaican voodoo gangs was an utterly bizarre story choice. It made its money back, but it was considered a big failure based on the success of the first one.

I would nominate it in the spirit of Crank 2. And then that hope was crushed forever with 2 completely terrible AVP movies.
-
I will also defend this one. It knows what it's going for. It doesn't always pull it off, but it actually has a rather subversive message at the core.

Never heard of this one. Though Sarah Jessica Parker is consistently terrible, so there's probably some gold in there.

Much as I love SMG, she clearly has a very limited range. Whedon got some magic out of her, but I've rarely seen her in anything else that I enjoyed. Other than Cruel Intentions, of course.

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol
seanotron replied to dantheman87's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
Nope, can't get on this train. The only good Mission Impossible movies were the last two. Now if you want to nominate the 2nd one, I can get on board. -
I only have one cat and do not smoke, but this was still a great way to start the day.

I believe this was Arnold's first box office bomb (at least the first after he became a legit star).

I never saw this one because I have an extremely low Chris Kattan tolerance threshold.

Oh, I remember this one. Kim Bassinger is the cartoon, right? Bonkers. Roger Rabbit was a great movie. Funny, well-written, smart. These two aren't even in the same league.

Yoinks. Well there you go.

This is a delight, just as I suspected it would be.

Didn't someone's face get mangled by a lawnmower or something? I think that was the only reason it was R.

It's not the end of the world either way. A new episode is never more than a few days away, that's the great thing about Whooch.

She plays Robin Williams' sister, but LL is their cousin (son of Michael Gambon).

Fire in the Sky is another one that's a bit weird tonally because about 1/4 of it is a family drama, then 1/2 of it is a kinda boring police procedural and then suddenly you get to those 20 minutes with him on the spaceship and it is absolutely terrifying.

I think he also falls in love with Joan Cusack, who he has always believed was his cousin, though we later find out she's a robot so I guess that's okay.

This would be a lot of fun to do, it's *so* 80s it hurts. And the interesting thing is, Frank Langella's name doesn't even appear in the opening credits. You have to wonder if he was too embarrassed to be named.

I saw this in the theater, and laughed out loud several times. It is truly awful. As I recall, there were a slew of terrible horror/scifi stuff that came out around the same time.

Poll to pick movies(Not an actual poll, just requesting one)
seanotron replied to BagguhMcGuirk's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
They did do this with the Halloween pick on Facebook. I like the idea though I also like being surprised. -
Honestly, the first one is bad enough.

I wanted to love the Black Dahlia because I've always been fascinated by that case, plus Brian De Palma has made some great movies. But man oh man, that movie is terrible. And very unintentionally funny. How anyone could confuse Hillary Swank with Mia Kishner is the biggest unsolved mystery of all. I won't spoil anything, but the murderer's final monologue is one of the most hilarious things I have ever seen.

Oh jeez, I had forgotten about the Stephen Hawking ape.
