    The Pumpkin Karver

I found the podcast a few months ago and have not stopped listening. Right when I heard about it, The Pumpkin Karver popped into my head as a film that must be discussed at some point in an episode. Here's a taste: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-mGxa-_85M Nothing I could say will do this atrocity justice. When I saw it for the first time, a friend of mine called me and asked if I was watching it on TV cause he just knew I would be. We proceeded to stay on the phone for the entire film just laughing and questioning everything about it. Highly recommended.

    Raising Donation Money

Not sure about how to go about this, but I'm trying something new to raise some donation money for this podcast. I've donated to a couple other Earwolf shows in the past, (CBB & Nerd Poker) but unfortunately I'm not financial able to make another donation to this awesome podcast right now. However, I did have an idea of how I can raise some money using my own self published book. I'm willing to donate 50% of my profits to HDTGM from sales to their listeners from now until the end of the year. The book is not relate to the podcast, but is simply just a silly book full of over 800 of my absurd musings. It'd be a good, cheap idea for a fun Xmas gift and I've been told it's a good bathroom read, so couple it with a pack of flushable wipes and you have a great gift for that co-worker who always spends too much time in there. I'm unaware of the logistics of this, so I don't know what'll happen to this post, but all it'll take on my end is to have people add a note at checkout ("HDTGM" is enough) so I know that the sale is for this donation and also the trust of a whole bunch of strangers in my honesty. If this does make it out there, then please visit my website at http://www.sustenanceforconsideration.com/ There are samples of stuff from the book on the sustenai tab, so if you like those then you should like the book.

    Congo (1995)

When I was no more than maybe 8-9 years old there was a movie that I dared not see, but all my friends of course saw it. The film was called Congo and my friends bragged about how scary it had been. Over 10 years later I still had not seen the movie and when we had an evening to watch a movie my buddies decided that there we should see Congo because they remembered it to be so scary. None of them had seen it in maybe 8-9 years. During the film my buddies began to feel more and more ashame as they realized what a crap movie Congo was, and I could not help but to agree. Congo is a film full of bad things, however, it is incredibly funny, not scary but fun. Tim Curry as a Romanian scientist takes the price but the little gorilla with a computer voice and the evil gorillas are also worth to be horrified and laughing about. In the middle of it all Delroy Lindo pops up as an African military who dislike that people eats his sesame cakes ... Take a look at the Congo, you will not thank me. Keep up the good work.

    Once Bitten

Once Bitten seems a shoo-in here. From the amazing soundtrack to the INSANELY creepy butler (Cleavon Little) to the super racist accent of the librarian...well, everything! This comedic vampire flick is so bad...and for HDTGM, that's bloody good. The basic plot involves an old vampire broad who, with the help of her raper-looking butler, needs to feed on a virgin thrice each year before halloween. There are a few scenes in this one that actually stood out to me as genuinely funny. Jim Carrey and his girlfriend are at a drive-in at one point (the high school fuck spot), and she refuses to give it up. He resigns and steps outside the ice-cream truck (yes, ice cream truck) in frustration. Then, we get a nice arial view of the cars surrounding them and the various sex-capades going on. Legs hanging out of windows, all the cars are bouncing, and a couple of pretty funny butt-shots. Even the title track of this one is so terrible that it's catchy. Once bitten, you won't feel no pain. Once bitten, we'll be singing in the rain... Some of my favorite lines are: "We're homos! We're rump-rangers!" "I haven't had anything this pure since the Vienna Boy's Choir hit town." "Oh, Mark...I can't believe you're going to throw away our relationship for a one-night stand with a chauffeur and a butler and a slut who eats buttons!" "How'd you like to have your crotch set on fire!" Have a look at this one, and I'm sure you'll be disappointed.

  13. I was driving to work in my Miata today, thinking about a lot of stuff, dodging traffic, taking detours, and just enjoying me when I remembered that Hollywood Handbook still has a long way to go before it meets its goal of beating the wolf den butt, and trust me i'm surprised the show isn't called Den Wolf, it'd make about as much sense as anything else going on in this crazy messed up world these days So the show needs ears, listens, and rave reviews, but how to sell it? Ordinarily I'd walk around in a hilarious T shirt and let that do the work for me but we all know how that's working out. A more sophisticated measure is called for Now in a handbook, when you come across important information you need saving, what do you do? If you're my little antonio you probably put a piece of gum in there and god bless his heart he's really close on the important concepts there, but what the REST of us do is, we tab it. We take out our multicolored tabs and put a tab in color coded for how that particular scoop made us FEEl. tabs for things that are funny, tabs for things that are smart, good,a nd funny, things that are smart and funny, and things that are funny and good, i'm preaching to the choir here you get me so i thought: why not make some tabs for our most important handbook of all, our hollywood handbook. and no i'm not talking about the physical copy that magically writes in itself and takes you on fantastic adventures like you get with the pro version, i'm talking about, sort of...editing, sort of engineering our favorite segments into one, long segment, that's still bite sized enough that we can show it to our friends, families, and loved ones, but i can't do it alone and i'm not even sure i can do it legally but if you heart is true, and you love tabs, learning, and being fun, please use this discussion space to share your most cherished hollywood handbook moments, and together maybe we can tab out and make something beautiful

  15. Quick question for Matt Besser, is there any chance for another Asssscat DVD? I really enjoy the one out now and the commentary track is such a great education in long-form, it was fantasitc. The book is of course great. The cool thing with the DVD is it's also a visual lesson. You see the comedy, laugh and enjoy it and then get the break down with the commentary. Seeing another DVD for entertainment purposes alone would be awesome! Maybe instead there could be a release of an Improv4Humans special on to DVD? Any thoughts on this, Matt? Or would anyone else on these forums love to see more Matt Besser driven improv on DVD? I realize making something like this costs money and all, but I'm curious if this is something that is thought about or a possibility. Thanks!

    Unicorn City

A slacker/pen and paper gamer attempts to lead his friends and fellow gamers in establishing a "Utopia for Gamers" in the mountains of Utah in order to get a job. This movie was made in Utah with parts of it filmed in a comic and game store I've spent many many hours at. I thought it might be a fun, tame indie, and it sometimes is but most times....ugh. The female characters in this movie are awful. One's a doormat, one's a slutty doormat and the other one has like 3 lines (but like 30 minutes of screen time at least). There was a pretty creepy and gross pre-rape scene between doormat #1 and one of the weirdest characters I've ever seen (Played by Napolean Dynamite's Uncle Rico). There were some generally hilarious parts (Usually physical comedy), and I loved the characters of the main protagonist's best friend and brother, but the top bill himself is just bad. He can't act and he has one of the most punchable faces I've ever seen, and his character is in no way worth rooting for. The story also makes little to no sense, and the movie isn't funny enough to justify the nonsense (something like Hot Rod but made by Mormon amateurs) It's on Netflix.
