I am 15 mins into this movie and it is a fevered nightmare materialized. I don't know if I have the mental fortitude to handle this right now.
-
Bullseye was definitely the best part of the movie.
Β
That is a very sad thing to see in writing.

Ben Affleck is a decent enough actor (and a much better director), his range is limited to a specific set of genres. Action/SuperHero is not in that wheelhouse,
Β
Vin Diesel is also another one of those guys who is a decent enough actor at the particular craft he plies. But you would never cast Vin Diesel as King Lear, and you shouldn't cast Ben Affleck in any hero flick. I thought Daredevil (it IS a fucking awful movie, and fucking awful movies is the name of the game here) taught the world this lesson, but it appears we need a recourse from such amnesia. And who better to provide said recourse than the masterful visionary behind one of my favorite HDTGM episodes, Zach Snyder.

The internet exploded into a wildfire of rage at the Ben Affleck Batman announcement. So obviously, Daredevil is now a must.

I just don't like Ryan Gosling.

Stallone-a-thon.... Judge Dredd, Cobra, Demolition Man, and now Over the Top. This one is a great classic, though.

Nic Cage needs a come back! Come on, Cage!

Director Refn remains as visually stylish as ever, but Only God Forgives fails to add enough narrative smarts or relatable characters to ground its beautifully filmed depravity.

"The film received a very divisive response at its Cannes press screening; it was booed by many of the audience of journalists and critics while also receiving a standing ovation.[12][18] It received a mixed to negative response from mainstream critics."
Β
A standing ovation AND booing at the same time? How confusing... Maybe they were saying "Boooo-uurns".

Also, in regards to Mockbusters: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mockbuster
Β
Often, but not always, a mockbuster will use a title with a similar-sounding name to the mainstream feature it intends to piggy-back upon. For instance, the 2006 mockbuster Snakes on a Train, written by Eric Forsberg,[8] traded on the publicity surrounding the theatrically released Snakes on a Plane.[9] The Asylum created Snakes on a Train, The Land That Time Forgot, Transmorphers, AVH: Alien vs. Hunter, The Da Vinci Treasure, Battle of Los Angeles, Paranormal entity and many other titles.Β
Crazy to think that an "of" is all that stands between Asylum and a Columbia Pictures lawsuit. It must be sad to be an inspiring actor/actress and a cadre of mockbuster movies is all you can get. As long as it pays, I suppose.

That whole bit about falling right into a sharks mouth reminded me of this:

Well this was unexpected. I didn't even get a chance to watch this yet, but I guess I'd better hunt it down.

This episode is simply magical.

Even as a kid, I hated this movie. It always made me feel weird.....

Whenever Jason baits June, I couldn't help but "see" this.

I almost went to see this one tonight. decided to save it for a rainy day.
Β
This was one of the non-splattered tomato reviews:
Β
"A simplistic, father-son morality play strictly for little kids and diehard Will and Jaden Smith fans. Destined to be added to the pantheon of inadvertently-funny blaxploitation flicks with a devoted cult following." -

For the record I was 5 years old in 1991 when "Boyz n the hood" first came out... And I have never seen that movie... I will see it this weekend
Β
Get ready to be bummed out. That movie always makes me really sad.

Insanely, the Eyes Wide Shut bird masks were actually historically accurate for the Middle Ages http://en.wikipedia....i/Plague_doctor
Β
I was about to post that the other day. I learned that when I watched a Ghost Adventures episode where they went to an island where Italian doctors isolated plague victims, and burned them alive. They stuffed the beaks with shit that they would would prevent the ingestion of the plague.

At one point the Rock says βTo catch wolves, you need wolvesβ which shows both a questionable police strategy and a dangerous misunderstanding of wolves. This is what it would be like if he tried to employ this strategy.

Where exactly WAS the Rock in Feb of 2011?

I am so glad that James Rolfe did this.

Yeah, NOS is crazy. The extra blast of horse power can blow your pistons through the hood unless you mod the rest of the vehicle with parts that can handle the load. Another thing about these movies I always notice is that they shift gears ALL THE TIME. If you're going 100mph on a freeway and you go up or down 30 mph, you don't need to shift. They're in sixth all the time right? Except for the scenes where they have to turn or move through traffic where it makes sense, what the hell are they shifting to?
Β
I think Pete Holmes may have had an issue with the gratuitous gear shifting, too.

If there is a Fast and Furious/Crank crossover, my balls will explode in a mushroom cloud of joy.
Β
BTW guys, NOS is a real thing. Racers with shitty cars use Nitrous Oxide as an automatic boost of HP when they inject it into their engines during combustion. Very dangerous, and can destroy your shit if overused. They made an energy drink based off of that, which I am certain can also destroy your shit if overused (or used in general).

I haven't seen a Fast and Furious movie since the very first one came out in theaters in 2000 or 2001... I guess now is as good a time as any other to break that streak.

Wait, that happy workers factory music that was playing is diegetic?? You mean they're actually listening to that song while they work??
