Episode 82.5 — Bonus Cut: Candy Land Life Lessons
Shannon replied to admin's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
A hA! Now I finally understand the Peppermint Forest callback from the first episode! That's my favorite part of bonus eps. -
Wow wow wow I can barely keep up with this thread, mostly because I've never seen any F&F movies, (I rented the first one waaay back in 2002 and turned it off 20 minutes in because it was the most boring thing I've ever seen) and they barely got into the plot of this one. BUT THIS EPISODE! The joyous energy was contagious and I felt as excited as the gang. But I loved how they all managed to disagree on stuff and was astounded when they discovered someone in the group didn't feel the same. "Are you serious?!" Glad they got Adam on the phone too, it wouldn't have been the same without him. And by the way, there's a new poll up on For Your Inconsideration. This round: #thezeropercent, movies with a 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Happy voting!

fwiw, I actually had a nice time at this movie. I wasn't expecting much and found it to be cute and generally okay. Rob Cordry is so wonderful and even with no lines I thought he was superb. It's not a movie I would buy and watch over and over but I was entertained while I was watching it. I will agree about the overblown soundtrack though, it was pretty distracting and very obviously saying "here teens! music you like! we get you!"

Episode 82 — Apocalypse Crushes
Shannon replied to admin's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
Amy is a beautiful shining beacon of love and positivity. I want all future episodes of I4H to include clapping and pep talks. She didn't plug it but I will... If you know a teenager or ever were a teenager you need to see because everything about it is perfect. She is perfect. The "gamer left out of the future" sketch almost killed me, for serious. Also, I'm sure other people did something similar, but I know for a fact that Pauly Shore is responsible for at least one cheetos dick joke. HOORAY! WHAT A GREAT IMPROV 4 HUMANS! -
WOO HOOOOOO!!!!

I'm super fucking lenient and only 4 users have ever been banned from here. I will gladly make it 5 for anyone pulling this shit because it annoys the piss out of me. the end.

I can barely believe I'm having to post this, and in this thread of all places. Everyone only gets ONE account. We don't do sockpuppets or burners here. It is 1000% unnecessary. This is a goddamn podcast message board, anything you have to say can be said with the account you have. Hiding behind extra anonymity is so asinine I can't stand it. If we see you posting under multiple accounts, they will all go bye bye. kay?

Yes, as I was sort of explaining earlier in the thread, you don't have to think of it as bad (5) vs good (1) since not all HDTGM movies are "bad" Think of it more as appropriate for the show (5) vs not right for the show (1) -

1) I am a Miley fan. hardcore 2) I have seen that before and have it on my ipod and so I greatly appreciate you sharing it with everyone here because it is great 3) That is correct, AND Dolly played Miley's aunt on quite a few episodes of Hannah Montana

This episode was really really great, and it literally could have been 2 hours longer. Fred was an excellent guest. And since June confessed, I will also say I also cried a little at the ghost dance scene. I think it's just because I'm borderline obsessed with Dolly and I think my brain was viewing the scene like a separate music video and I was touched. I also had a real good laugh at the Kirk Franklin performance (or as Jason called him, the James Brown guy) he's basically the most famous gospel guy out there and I used to do routines to his music at Christian Cheerleading Camp. (this movie clearly brought up a lot of stuff for me guys) And I want to know why they cast Jesse L Martin, excellent broadway performer, in the one non-singing role in the movie. I have so many more things to talk about, but my lunch break is over.

All I could think the whole time was that this was a movie my pentecostal grandmother would rent and then lose her mind at all the sex and cursing. I was having a great time with the movie until the kid from the kid choir started speaking in tongues and I had PTSD flashbacks and had to walk around my house for awhile, then the medley didn't help at all. Jesus parodies are also a trigger for me. Especially when combined with Chris Brown.

A little of both. We will probably use garbage can ratings to narrow down movie choices to be included in the polls. So rate all the movies you wanna see covered! -

oh god please don't watch the tv version. most of the good jokes are taken out.

Mean Girls is a triumph in comedy and one of the best movies of the last decade. Mean Girls 2 is terrible made for tv garbage.

Thanks Lando for the reminder, I meant to do this last week but I got really distracted with FYI

Oh no!, please dont misunderstand me. I am not at all trying to say that the white savior trope doesn't exist or that it isn't extremely problematic. I was only saying that from the book perspective Skeeter (Emma stones character) was not the hero. For most of the book shes as much as an antagonist as Hilly. Because she thinks she's the hero and gets really mad that the maids don't trust her and is completely oblivious to her own privilege. By the end of the novel, she realizes her complicity in the world she lives in, can't deal and runs away to NY. Abeline is the hero of the novel hands down. But it seems that as in most novels turned to movies, all the nuance and details that make it good fall away in order to cram it all into a 90 min movie.

I remember when this movie came out and there were so many blogs that were like, "eyeroll another feel good movie about a pretty white lady rescuing the black people" and that the story itself had no merit because the book was written by a white lady, and I kind of didn't really understand it. I read the book long before the movie came out and the message that I got from it was that it really fucking sucked to be black in the south in the 60s. Other than a few funny or uplifting moments, nothing in that book makes you feel good. It's a really sad story about a really shitty time that wasn't even that long ago. I don't remember the movie well because I only saw it once and I was comparing it to the book the whole time so it's fuzzy. Maybe the movie missed the point somehow? I guess I just wonder if you tell stories about a time of extreme prejudice is it automatically racist? Like, isn't it just historically accurate that a white person would have to write a book about black housekeepers because no one who published books in the 60s would have even listened to a black person for five minutes? blah, whatever I could be completely and totally wrong, and maybe this isn't even what you were talking about Wien. ...oh, I also totally didn't tag the movie with that so I'm not confessing to anything.
