I was a little confused by Jay's comments at the start about 'Asian casting'. Was he trying to say it's more racist to cast an Asian actor in a Native American role?
-
Seriously, please don't end this show. Just forget Dave as a cohost, just have him as a 'regular guest' when he can come on. Otherwise, find someone to book for you. We need this.
-
What he left out of this story was that it was Stephen Hawking.
-
You should submit this to YO IS THIS RACIST.
-
Man, I didn't even think of this, how would you label it though?
-
You know what I've noticed this year, especially recently? The joy is back in CBB. For a time it wasn't as fun, and I think it was because Scott was so busy. But the last few months it has just been unbridled joy from he and the guests and that translates to a better world for us all. When PFT said, "Oh no!" in the background after the catchphrase, it put a smile on my face the rest of the day.

I want there to be an Earwolf Presents with just Todd and Howard talking about one weird topic for an hour. Something easy like, "Favorite color" and just watch the madness and stream of consciousness unfold.
-
Pop=popular, right?
-
And a little fun. Here is the stuff. And for more fun, here is what I think he was talking about with racism in the WWE in the 90's. . By any means necessary. Jesus.

And actually, further to the point, who is having such a f**king hard time finding radio stations without rap? I can think of ONE rap station in the Denver area and like FORTY ones that don't have it, and maybe ONE more that has it sometimes. So to Jay's point about his friends saying, "I just want one radio station without rap", it does seem to be a blanket statement on "I just want less black stuff around me." Because where are you living that you can't find a radio station that doesn't have rap on it? Do you live inside the movie BREAKIN'? Are you trapped inside Jay-Z's locked gloved compartment?
-
Sooooooooo....you missed the point totally huh? The racist part is not that they don't have rap on their stations. They can not have rap on their stations. If I tune into country, I don't expect rap. If I tune into easy listening, I don't expect rap. What was racist was them specifically emphasizing that they have 'all the hits' but not 'that rap'. As the host said, they say 'rap' like the n-word. Why specifically point out they don't have that type of music? They don't have polka. They don't have K-Pop. They don't have Russian Ballet. Why the need to point out a particular type of music, one that is almost 90% ethnically based, unless they are making a point about its exclusion? Think of it like this, because this is what I hear, when I hear those ads, "All the hits WHITE PEOPLE like. None of that scary jungle music." Yes, it is VERY racist.

(Still Garry Marshall) "What? This is unheard of! But I'll allow it."

In my best Garry Marshall, "Please, call me Eat a Bag of Dicks".

Episode 52 β Itβs Your Choice To Suck A Dick
Lukas Holmes replied to admin's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
There is so much stuff when you hear it for the first time, usually in Sunday School as a teenager, you just look around like, "Is this what we're doing? Seriously?" I remember that being used as a cautionary tale right before prom. It was supposed to be this thing about how premarital sex was wrong because...well...I guess because LOOK AT THIS. Afterwards I told the girls in the group, "So just so we're clear, no one sleep with their fathers tonight. Mine is dead so I'm good and ladies...wide open as well." After leaving the church for more than a decade and coming back a few years ago (short lived) this story got told one Sunday and it hit me, "Oh yeah, this is why I left. This $hit is crazy." -
I can't wait to listen to this! Our three year old is in a special school right now to help with her speech delay. I felt so guilty when we had to put her in speech therapy when she was about two and a half, because I felt like it was my fault. Once I started talking about it though, I found out many other kids were doing it and many people I know and love did it as well. Can't wait to hear what you guys have to say.

Exactly Sean. At this point you have to assume that many of the new people may not be as tech savvy as dedicated listeners. I came to Earwolf early on when I heard the Sklar Brothers on the Jim Rome show. I didn't know what a podcast was or how to download it. So I came to the site and just listened to their show through my headphones and speakers on my computer, via the site. Then I noticed the new shows popping up each day from other things on Earwolf, and would just click on them and listen. It wasn't until, I want to say it was Jeff on something, mentioned people using their iPod to listen while working out, that I realized I could sync up and have them on the go. I know that makes me look silly (and was I ever so young?) but that's how many people come into this. Unclear on how it works and easily scared off if it seems hard. Mostly what I fear is that many fans will think, "Oh, I'm not cool enough for this because I don't get it, it's too complicated" and will be scared off. But you're right, not going to lose a single listener over this, but might not get as many new ones. But I think we all know Earwolf and know if they see a problem they will fix it, or have an overall plan we don't see. On a side note, it's great to have this problem though for big fans right? Too much content? That's awesome.
-
You aren't. For those of us loyal fans, it isn't a big deal because we know where to go to find stuff. However for new fans, this could be pretty confusing. Yesterday because of all the shows not only did some not make it on the left side bar, some didn't make it in the scrolling bar on top. I agree, I think it's time to spread some of the Tuesday stuff out in terms of comedy.

Episode 52 β Itβs Your Choice To Suck A Dick
Lukas Holmes replied to admin's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
The story of Sodom always makes me laugh when used to say being gay is worthy of punishment. I remember sitting in a Bible study as an adult and just saying, "Yeah...but, really, I think God was upset that he sent an angel and all the men in town tried to rape it." Like you guys said, it had nothing to do with it being gay sex, but just about rape. Maybe we should be more focused (the right) on how badly God brought down his anger on rapists. God has ways, if it's a legitimate angel rape, so I'm told, of shutting that down when it happens. -

Wow. The Victoria Jackson clips are a super bummer. Is there any chance this is all a big act? -
Totally agree! Why not have him on one of the miniepisodes? I've heard him talk at the Mile High Horror Film Festival and he's just great. I would love to hear Jason interact with him.

Episode 9 β Politics!

ANNNND...I posted in the wrong forum. Great episode though, bummer about Moe. -
This was one of the best interviews they have yet had. While I'm not a fan of Pete's podcast (mostly) I did dig the back and forth he brought to this. One of the interesting things about Pete is I think he is so much better when people are asking him questions and putting him on the spot. Going back to the point (Randy?) made about why our religion is the way it is and basing it on fear, I couldn't agree more, but I would take it a step further. Our biggest import/export now in America is fear. Everything is based on trying to scare us into believing we are falling behind, in danger, losing our way of life, etc. To watch our news or hear our political commericals, you would think our country is filled with rapists, murderers, Chinese spies and is in another dust bowl. I'm afraid my kids are starting to think every stranger is going to kill them and that China/Iran are currently aiming missles at us right now. I think all of this fear traces back to a change in who we are as a people. The internet is giving us more information than we can handle and having the curtain drop, revealing all knowledge and all communication to us, scares us. So we focus on fear and people captalize on it. Not to sound insane (too late) but that's one of the reasons I love podcasts. There seems to be almost no agenda to make me afraid, no anger directed at anyone but perhaps a nameless heckler. So, that was a long way of saying thank you. Also, I started crying I was laughing so hard at you (Jason?) laughing during the mascot story. Earwolf rocks.

Glad to understand the 'Sad Robot' concept and sad at how popular it is. Only complaint I have and this is a personal thing because I have a friend who does this too, PLEASE stop saying 'Real talk' so much. Love the show.

I'm pretty sure this is Ricky and he's freaking awesome.
