I always feel so stupid when Tim comes on. I know everyone else gets it and loves it, but I don't and it makes me feel like a comedy moron. I almost never laugh when he's on. =(

I agree that we should be assuming worst case scenarios in terms of getting prepared for global warming. If it turns out to be nothing much to worry about, then the worst we've done is find better fuels and made cleaner air. Great problems. I think one of Steven's (his name is Steve, stop calling him 'the guest', it feels like you are trying to dehumanize him) best points was about the money. The carbon footprint idea made a lot of sense to me when I first heard it, but then I heard that you were able to buy carbon credits to do bad things with, and that someone, somewhere, would offset your footprint. I get that this is, actually, a great way to try and balance the scales, but to the skeptic in me, it made it then seem that people WERE trying to monetize global warming the other direction. It doesn't matter if it is true or not, once that idea floated out there, the other side had ammunition to fire. So now you have 'sides' that want profits. We already knew there were Captain Planet villains in our world screwing it up with pollution, waste, toxic rain...and we knew they would do anything to keep profits up. But now the other side (and I'm sorry to create sides) had people trying to get money as well, so the moral high ground as lost. I still think the best thing is to assume global warming is real, and to fight it, just in case it is. Welp, that's been me not making a lot of sense.

I feel like Dan's obessession with worse and worse stories has become his Mr. Brownstone. He used to do a little but a little wasn't doing so a little got more and more.

Fair point.

Haven't listened yet, but love seeing Steven on again! Oh, and glad it's a topic that everyone agrees on. I'm sure the forums will reflect a nice civil discussion with point-counter point.

Another great one. Thanks for mentioning my name....I think? Best kept secret on the internet. I think that a lot of the reason you don't have more listeners to this is that men like us may have come in a bit late on podcasting and just not understand it. I had an idea recently to take your first episode and burn it to CD with instructions on how to download it on iTunes or listen to it on the website, printed with the CD. I'll let you know if it turns on any of the dads I give it to. As for the sleeping thing, couldn't agree more with Barry. We did the cosleeper for our first kiddo (three now) and did not for the second (two in a week). No difference in personality, no difference in behavior. We're very lucky though because they are sisters and very close and now share a room, so once we did start seeing fear of being alone at night, we just put them together and zero problems after that. One thing I wanted to jump on was your (Jeff's) point about wishing he could give voice mail without having a conversation. (If only there was some technology that allowed for Jeff to record his voice and send it to people...if only he had access to something like that...) I wonder how much our society is breaking down because of a desire to communicate at, and not communicate with. Be careful with this thought process because it translates to your communication with Arden (right?). We fall into a pattern of just assuming/knowing what we are saying is correct and easily understood by others and that THEY are the problem if they don't get it on the first shot. Having actual conversations allow for us to get that back and forth that the other person needs for clarity and that we need just to stay human. Finally, this is for everyone on the forum, anybody have any good websites out there they look to for dad advice? I've been looking for dad's groups here in Denver to try and meet up with other dads, without success. Curious if anyone knows of anything like that. I can bring my Love,Dad CD's with me!!! Like a lunatic!!!

'Retarded Olympics'? Probably a better way to attempt to name JK movies. Just saying. Loved the Heather Graham story. I could feel my entire body going numb at the end. Yikes.

Loved Colt on the show today! I haven't followed the WWF since I was a kid but man, that guy is wonderful. You need to have him on more often! Also...any chance we can meet Dumb Randy's dog?

I don't think I could have enjoyed this more. I loved everything about it. Way to go Aaron and way to go PB and Earwolf for having the guts to support him doing it.

Episode 6 β ROCK!!!!!!
Lukas Holmes replied to admin's topic in The Fogelnest Files with Jake Fogelnest
The Manakin tape was amazing! I was mesmerized the entire video. However the Pink Floyd cover just sort of bummed me out. Like...a lot. I feel like every guy I went to high school with, that still lives back home, is in that band. -
I love the Sklars on this show. They offer a great balance to the madness that was Jon Daley last week. They seem to be taking the topics very seriously and treating them with the proper respect.

Professor Blastoff Not Showing on Front Page
Lukas Holmes replied to pdxsean's topic in Professor Blastoff
I agree it is annoying, but it does show up in the crawl on the top. I believe they show up on the bottom in order of release time. So with PB getting released the earliest, it gets knocked off first. -
Please...call me Mr. Picklefucker.

Lauren's character made me very upset. Perfect.

I enjoy how oddly surprised Andrew sounded at the end, "So...that's not racist...somehow."

One of the best episodes yet. The LoLo Jones story was easily one of my favorite things ever. I hadn't heard about it so it was great to go in cold to the punch line. "He did get hit and he is paralyzed." Greg's take on the guy was horrible, but it made me laugh almost to tears.

Bummer topic, I know, but I would love to hear David's take a veteran and your thoughts as a rookie. I've got a 3 and a 2 myself and just don't know how to make sure they are safe without making them fearful of the world at large.

Last Wednesday a 10 year old girl walked three blocks from her house to where a group of kids was waiting to walk to school (like she does each day). Never made it. Last night they found a body in a park but are having trouble identifying it (I won't go into details why). The authorities have ruled out the family. http://www.denverpost.com/breakingnews/ci_21748319/jessica-ridgeway-search-westminster-police-plan-6-45

Needed a good laugh today guys out here in Denver. Driving my kids and wife around to pick out Halloween costumes, I put this on. My wife laughed pretty hard at the discussion on sugar in the house and how David had eliminated it all. "And what about your house Jerry?" "Oh, we live in a See's Candy." Great stuff. Also, my wife (who is a vegan God help me) really liked the thing about not buying food if it isn't touching a wall. At first I was super annoyed with you for that Jeff...then I realized that the chip isle at our local grocery is on a wall. Now...to get them to move the beverage isle over there as well. (PS-The locked cage of cigarettes touches the front wall. May I eat them?). Another great show guys! Thanks! OH! PPS: Can you please tackle how to get your kids to be thinking about safety and stranger danger without ruining their child hoods? Struggling with this today in light of what's happened out here this week. Thanks!

Still not clear on what the answer was and yeah, felt really creepy there for a bit.

Episode 5 β Obscure MTV Moments
Lukas Holmes replied to admin's topic in The Fogelnest Files with Jake Fogelnest
Yup. -
I get what they are doing, but I do think they are shooting themselves in the foot with the comedy category. Maybe they just need to spread things out more so that no more than three new ones a day in any category are up. I feel like the forums are suffering too because people don't see them on the front page and don't comment. But I know Earwolf will work out the kinks (if they are really there and I'm not just being a nerd).

A lot happening in this episode. First of all, that was THE WORST Dave Barry impression ever. EVER. Secondly, I think the format of the show is best when you just let the guest start rambling. If you let a white man talk about 'race' uninterrupted for long enough, gold starts to pour out. Finally, as an Irish man, I loved hearing my relatives talk about how we were the 'truly' oppressed. They would reach back into history and point out some weird form of slavery that we were apparently subjected to (I was never clear if they were talking about the land owners back home or just...you know...the Bible) and how everyone treated us much worse than 'the blacks'. This was then an excuse for screaming horrible things at the TV during football games. Yay.

Episode 7 β White Rappers & the N-Word
Lukas Holmes replied to admin's topic in Yo, Is This Racist?
I have to agree. The show is great, but that would make it even better.
