If he hasn't already, I'm sure that Smith will mention that the studio wanted him to put a giant robot spider in Superman, because we haven't heard THAT story in a week. -
"Because You Watched..." Netflix suggestions that miss the mark

You watched the "Wet Hot American Summer" show, didn't you? -
Fantastic Four (2015)
PlanBFromOuterSpace replied to BertramCooper's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
I think the build-up in this is a lot more bearable than Hulk, as while there's a lot of techo-stuff going on, it's not as weighed down in the language, and everyone gets their moments. There's also some good character interaction, and the origin is similar but different enough to not seem like a complete rehash. Also, unlike Spider-Man, they're not going to stretch this rebooted origin out through the entire series, thank God. The powers and personalities are handled pretty well, and I'd be interested in seeing their interaction with the X-Men if that ever happens. -
Fantastic Four (2015)

Incredible Hulk was shorter, but the Ang Lee one with Eric Bana was much longer at 2 hours and 18 minutes. Anyway, I just got done with the new F4, and it was pretty decent. It wasn't extraordinarily crazy and there wasn't anything particularly bad about it. I still think the Corman one would make for a great discussion though. -

Unlike the Hulk movie though, I know the new F4 movie is crazy short. I built it last night and will be checking it out here in an hour so. I probably wouldn't watch half the stuff that comes out if I didn't get in for free... -
"Because You Watched..." Netflix suggestions that miss the mark
PlanBFromOuterSpace replied to PlanBFromOuterSpace's topic in How Did This Get Made?
I thought I'd give this one a bump since Netflix's technique for rounding up suggestions is actually kind of in the news right now. Speaking of which, I hate that because I'm white, Adam Sandler movies are always being recommended to me. Netflix thinks that I would like "The Cobbler", and I think that Netflix has been drinking. -
When I'd first heard of this movie, I'd only listened to the radio spot or something, because I remember just losing it at the end when I heard "...rated PG!".

EPISODE 115.5 — Minisode 115.5
PlanBFromOuterSpace replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
Or how about this: I film a bunch of wrestling shows in my area, posting the videos to my channel or whatever group I'm working with, and one of the guys showed me how someone had taken one of his matches that I'd filmed and posted, slapped some sort of weird filter on it, dubbed in some terrible background music, and then re-posted it on his own channel. It adds absolutely nothing to it, and in fact, one of our guys had recorded commentary that was a part of my video, and you can still sort of hear that between the music. What the...WHY would someone do that? -

So, you're basing this entirely on a low RT score and not because you've actually seen it? A low RT score can mean anything. It doesn't mean it's crazy bad or interesting bad. It could mean it's "completely unwatchable or boring and not worth talking about at all" bad. I haven't seen it either, because it isn't out yet, but there's at least one earlier cinematic attempt at the Fantastic Four that I'm sure is much worthier of discussion... -
EPISODE 115.5 — Minisode 115.5

My recommendation for "Annihilation" is based PURELY on it being a complete failure as a film or anything that might possibly be confused with any form of storytelling. I never got wrapped up in the mythos or anything, but I DO love/hate the part where all the villains are all essentially cutting wrestling promos on each other explaining why they're the baddest or whatever. NO ONE DOES THIS. -

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that "Atomic Dog" gets played at least once in the film. You see, it's a movie with a dog in it. A DOG. -

My favorite thing that's just sort of left hanging is when they seemingly come across Sub-Zero, who'd apparently died in the first one. He beats...someone, I don't know, and they're like "We thought Sub-Zero was dead!", to which he responds with something along the lines of "He totally is. I'm his brother. Bob's my name, Bob-Zero". Okay, everything after the brother part is made up, but a man can dream... -

Not to mention, the continuity between the MK films is absolutely airtight! All those questions at the end of the first one that you didn't even know you had? Answered. All of them... -
Well, parts of them. Repeatedly. Or so I've heard...

Terminator: Genisys (2015)
PlanBFromOuterSpace replied to dlo burns's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
Performance-wise, absolutely not. "Terminator" was a midweek release, having come out on a Wednesday. It was already heading into the weekend with 15 million in the tank, so the first weekend comparisons aren't really comparable. Anyway, Arnold's popularity as an action lead has nose-dived since he's been working more regularly, and the "Terminator" franchise is also coming off of a lackluster showing its last time out, as "Salvation" did okay, but was pretty poorly received. The box office take of the series has been all downhill since the second one, and if anything, I'd say that "Genisys" has done better than would have been expected overall, but in a completely unspectacular way. It might be an interesting one to talk about as a film, but it's not the same kind of dud that "Pixels" appears to be. -
