    I, Frankenstein (2014)

That would be a better plot for "Nundercover 2: Second to Nun".

    Episode 81 — Mortal Kombat

I think covering the Lambert filmography would be a FANTASTIC idea! *coughSouthlandTalescough* "Heh, heh, heh..."
  3. Funny you should ask.... http://forum.earwolf.com/topic/3536-southland-tales/ It's not a Christopher Lambert movie per se, but he's in it, along with The Rock, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Kevin Smith, and nearly everyone that was on Saturday Night Live around the turn of the century. Over one hundred comments! The HDTGM crew is running out of places to hide!

    Episode 81 — Mortal Kombat

Speaking of "Iron Chef", Mark Dacascos (The Chairman in the American version) co-starred with Scott Wolf (they're brothers!), Alyssa Milano, and Robert Patrick in the film adaptation of the ORIGINAL beat-'em-up classic, "Double Dragon"! For those of you that don't know who he is, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (Shang Tsung) is the middle-aged Japanese guy in every movie that has had a middle-aged Japanese guy in it ever. Anyone ever seen "The Next Karate Kid", the one with Hillary Swank in it? That's another movie with a female fighter where the female never actually gets hit, I don't think. In the first "Karate Kid", Ralph Macchio almost gets straight up murdered on several occasions, but in that last one, Swank gets shoved around a little. "The Next Karate Kid" made the first "Karate Kid" look like "Boys Don't Cry", the first of two films where Hillary Swank won an Oscar for essentially being beaten to death.

    Episode 81 — Mortal Kombat

I'm only about 15 minutes it, so I'm not sure if it gets mentioned later, but there was a stage stunt show based on "Mortal Kombat" that featured none other than "Punisher: War Zone" director Lexi Alexander as Princess Katana (I think) in her first U.S. gig!

    I, Frankenstein (2014)

This reminds me, because strangely enough, I've been hearing good things about "Best Night Ever", by Seltzer and Friedberg (all of the "Movie" movies), so all of a sudden you have these deservedly shit-upon filmmakers going out and almost accidentally making not-awful films. Weird...

    Southland Tales (2006)

I listened to every episode, and I'm pretty sure they never tackled it. Not that I can remember...

    Episode 80.5 — Minisode 80.5

I think Larry Zbysko or Dusty Rhodes said Glacier was also "a black belt in Okinawa", as though it was a martial art and not a place. Also, they can't seem to determine if he's some sort of mystical being or a normal dude, because they talk about how his dad and brother are both cops and that he could have been too, but had decided instead to become the world's greatest martial artist.

    Episode 80.5 — Minisode 80.5

It's Mortal Kombat, and I can't believe I hadn't posted these yet... As it turns out, it doesn't translate well to a wrestling gimmick. I think this came about after Turner got the broadcast rights to MK, or maybe it was when the live action series was in development, so it was tapping into that. The "we clearly know nothing about martial arts" commentary is terrific. I don't remember if he was in any of the video games or not, but the WCW games were pretty awesome around this time.

    Episode 80.5 — Minisode 80.5

This makes ZIggy look like War & Peace. This is some Family Circus-level shit here. Jesus, he can't even draw what's supposed to be a NORMAL person sitting in a chair. To his credit though, it looks like he spent more time on the background than in anything else he's ever done.

    Jason Wrote Ride Along?

I haven't looked, so I may be wrong, but I think that way back when, several years ago, it was going to be Rock and maybe Ryan Reynolds? I too would love to know which stage of the film Jason was working at. This would be a good discussion for a mini ep, although someone on another thread suggested having an episode where Jason, in douchey screenwriter mode, is the guest, and he's defending his movie and talking about what a piece of art it is.

    Episode 80.5 — Minisode 80.5

This isn't bad compared to the thread for what I think was the "Stop, or My Mom Will Shoot" episode, which turned into like a seven page discussion of Woody Allen movies.

    Episode 80.5 — Minisode 80.5

Some of those guys were great when they were working FOR someone and had deadlines and editors and stuff. It's when they became their own bosses and started doing their own projects (some better than others) that they really got exposed as either being hacks, lazy, or shitty storytellers when it came to their original creations. Jim Lee's still pretty awesome when he's motivated and actually works ahead a bit, like his runs on Batman and Superman, but then he did a re-launch of WildCATs that he did exactly ONE issue of. I don't know whose fault it is that All-Star Batman and Robin never came out on a regular basis, as Frank Miller's a bit of a flake, but Lee's work for that was pretty good as well, and he's a decent VISUAL storyteller on his own, which can't be said for Liefeld. Some of his proteges do some really good work though. Mike Deodato Jr. started his career as a Liefeld clone, but then developed his own style and a solid work ethic, and now I can recommend just about anything he does. Oh jeez, that kind of made me wonder what the hell ever happened to Stephen Platt. Anyone else that read comics in the 90's remember THAT guy?

    Episode 80.5 — Minisode 80.5

So there it is, the genesis of Rob Liefeld's technique. He's based every drawing of every human being on a physique and pose that only looks natural on Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1970. Well. Done. Sir.

    Episode 80.5 — Minisode 80.5

THE Liefeld Captain America shot that everyone knows. Believe it or not, he'd been pro for at least a decade by this point... That outfit that someone saw Paul wearing that one time. Very recent, and as generic as it gets... The many faces (and single facial expression) of Rob Liefeld... I...don't know what's happening... This is not a 30-year-old man, this is Franklin Richards, the young son of Reed and Sue. Aside from being shorter, kids are EXACTLY the same as adults, right? Rob Liefeld seems to think so. Is that really a foot?

    Episode 80.5 — Minisode 80.5

While Paul WS Anderson's films generally aren't very good, they benefit greatly from having sequels not directed by him that are even WORSE, which kind of make his look a little better. About the only exception would be the last couple of Resident Evils, which he did direct after not having directed the second (a tie with Annihilation for worst movie I've seen in a theater) and third. The fifth one, Resident Evil: Whateverthefuck is some stupid, stupid shit.
  18. PlanBFromOuterSpace

    Episode 80.5 — Minisode 80.5

Mortal Kombat Annihilation was the universe's way of restoring balance after I'd seen Boogie Nights that same day at the same theater, which went on to become my favorite movie of all time. Holy shit did Annihilation end the day on a bad, bad note.

    Episode 80.5 — Minisode 80.5

I totally forgot to post my favorite Liefelds of all time last night when I got home. I shall not make the same mistake tonight...
  20. Maybe Tom Lennon and Ben Garant for any of their wide array of "one for them..." projects? They've got a whole book about them, but it would still be great to hear them discuss and defend, in character, "Herbie: Fully Loaded" or the "Night at the Museum" franchise.

    3 Ninjas (1992)

Which is all the more reason WHY they shouldn't be acting like they're about to win the NBA Finals when those little assholes keep scoring point after point after unanswered point. I don't think those little pricks missed a single shot! I mean, the one dude did a fireman's carry to the one little shithead, and that shot still went in, but then the baddies celebrate like they just got done tag-teaming the kid's mom or something. They are terrible at what they do.

    Episode 80.5 — Minisode 80.5

Just wanted to let you guys know, Best Buy has one of those 4-film favorite collections with the first MK, Annihilation, the first Legacy web series, and (because this is the New Line catalog and they needed a fourth film) none other than SPAWN. You're welcome!

    Episode 80.5 — Minisode 80.5

He also wore giant, in no way practical, metal shoulder pads and always seemed to be standing in a mist or behind tiny hills. I also heard him deliver about three pages of dialog once while simply jumping at an opponent. Jumping from what or where, I don't know, because everything in the background always seems to disappear...
