    EPISODE 123.5 - MINISODE 123.5

-Short Round -Long Duck Dong -Ernie Reyes Jr. -Data I think a couple of those might be the same person, but (and this may sound terrible) most 80's movie Asian stereotypes look the same to me anyway.
  2. Did they? I think there were two other shows I was recording at the time it was on, so I kind of forgot it was there.
  3. I imagine this show might be entertaining in the sense the people talking about it are usually more interesting than the shows themselves. For instance, I can stand "The Bachelor" for as long as it takes to show the best 30 second clip of it on "The Soup", but I can listen to people dog on it all day, because it's kind of a show we've all already sort of seen without seeing it.

    EPISODE 123.5 - MINISODE 123.5

So I'm watching "Hackers" on Netflix right now, and while I know I've seen parts of it, this may be the first time that I've ever watched it in its entirety. I'm convinced though that it is a movie that has absolutely no idea how humans speak out loud, whether it's to themselves or to each other. Also, SO much ADR...

    EPISODE 123.5 - MINISODE 123.5

Preacher by Garth Ennis! One of my favorite books ever, and it'll be interesting to see how the TV show turns out. That's a Vertigo title, but DC also recently reprinted all of Hitman, also by Ennis, which tells the comedic tale of a super powered hitman in the DCU.

    EPISODE 123.5 - MINISODE 123.5

Fraction also did a good run on Punisher War Journal, which was finished up by Rick Remender. Lots of ridiculousness involving B and C-level villains in that one.

    EPISODE 123.5 - MINISODE 123.5

Friend of the show Ed Brubaker's run on Captain America was phenomenal, and he also brought back the one character that no one thought would EVER come back, while making it all make sense. Also, Garth Ennis on Punisher is gold. He did a 12 issue mini and then a 35+ issue monthly that was pretty funny for the most part, but then relaunched the book under Marvel's MAX imprint, where it became a super serious adults only book for five years, which also included a couple other mini series and specials. After that, you can check out Jason Aaron's Punisher MAX, which carried on Ennis's vision very nicely.

    EPISODE 123.5 - MINISODE 123.5

Yeah, it drove me nuts with Marvel re-starting their numbering whenever the hell they felt like it, like how it would affect some books, but not others, which themselves would get revamped the next year anyway. I think it's most frustrating now, because comics themselves are probably the LEAST important thing that Marvel has going on. They're so far ahead of the game and making BILLIONS on their movies and other merchandise that they could stop publishing individual comic books tomorrow and they'd still be set for life. That's not to say that they should go away entirely, but I'd be more inclined to buy a single yearly volume of Avengers or something if it was presented as new material, kind of like they're sort of doing with their Netflix TV shows.

    EPISODE 123.5 - MINISODE 123.5

I gave up entirely on following the regular Marvel titles a few years back, with Fear Itself maybe being the last big crossover that I paid much attention to, which was awful. I picked up Avengers Vs. X-Men as it came out the next year without having kept up with the times, and it was easy enough to follow, but I've since abandoned the regular Marvel U aside from stuff like Fraction's Hawkeye or other pretty self-contained things. You couldn't pay me to even START giving a shit about whatever's going on at DC.

    EPISODE 123.5 - MINISODE 123.5

It was completely terrible in 1995-96 though, because in addition to the regular monthly titles, there were various specials and one-shots that ultimately added nothing. Like, you could buy an issue of Amazing Spider-Man one month that would be part 3 of one story, but then the next issue would already be part 5 of ANOTHER arc.

    EPISODE 123.5 - MINISODE 123.5

I was into a lot of crappy stuff at the right time. Before Marvel started reprinting absolutely everything, I was able to E-Bay off the entire Clone Saga off for a pretty nice chunk of change. Aside from having mostly good art, much of the Mid-90s through 2000 era of Spider-Man is kind of unreadable now, and don't get me started on early 90s X-Men, which was really popular at the time and made sense when I read all 18 books that came out in any given month....

    EPISODE 123.5 - MINISODE 123.5

It certainly is, and I'll be damned if it isn't one of the mid-90s-iest things ever. That said, I still got like 25 bucks for that shirt on E-Bay many years later...

    EPISODE 123.5 - MINISODE 123.5

In the early 90s, I was all Chicago Bulls sweatpants, then heavy metal t-shirts, and comic book characters that were not long for this Earth...

    EPISODE 123.5 - MINISODE 123.5

Yeah, I think Kris Kross was first, and then you had the imitators, but then Kriss Kross didn't last, and none of the wannabes fared any better.

    EPISODE 123.5 - MINISODE 123.5

On a 90s nostalgia note, I actually had a discussion with a co-worker a few weeks ago about Another Bad Creation (ABC! GET IT?!?!?), who I probably hadn't even thought of in over two decades. I made sure not to mention them by name too much though, because I think we ALL know what happens if you say their name five times. Don't make me have to remind you. Anyway, enjoy another ABC thang...

    EPISODE 123.5 - MINISODE 123.5

Oh, and it's great that my fucking phone automatically adds the accent over the "e" in Beyonce without me asking it to, but then it makes me look like an asshole when a "then" gets out as "thrn" or something...

    EPISODE 123.5 - MINISODE 123.5

    EPISODE 123.5 - MINISODE 123.5

If I remember correctly, in "War Games", isn't there a scene where the star of "Deck the Halls" opens a lock or makes a phone call or something by playing back the recorded SOUND, not by actually using the keypad or whatever the actual physical action is that makes the thing work? That would be like if I played the sound of my key turning in the ignition and that alone made my car start.

    EPISODE 123.5 - MINISODE 123.5

As I mentioned a long time ago on the suggestion thread, between this and "The Net", the mid-90s was a magical time when Hollywood's vision of someone that spent too much time on a computer was closer to Beyoncé Knowles than Harry Knowles.

    EPISODE 123.5 - MINISODE 123.5

I haven't listened yet, but I'm going to guess a big NO on Cage making "Lifeforce" better, on account of his not-so-great tits.

Short Circuit 1 or 2...or both!

He played the greatest Indian ever! The fastest Indian ever, though? Anthony Hopkins.

    EPISODE 123 - Lifeforce

And they make sure to mention it in the movie itself a few times, if I remember correctly. That's actually the first movie I ever worked on!
