  1. I think the case Kyle was talking about was where a guy took a railroad spike to the--i thiiiiiiiiink--hippocampus, Whatever area it was, it has some direct correlation to regulating emotions. I think love and attraction are a little more nebulous. There are so many things that go into attraction, it's not just controlled by an area of the brain. Biology plays a part, genetics probably do as well, and maybe even environment. I don't think there's anyway to control it and it would take more than a spike to the head to change someone's sexuality.

The case David referred to is that of Phineas Gage, but there have been other more recent cases where brain injury or side effects of certain medications have produced sudden shifts in sexuality. The question is whether these represent actual "changes", or the people involved were consciously repressing their real sexual identity before the event that tipped their Kinsey scales.

  2. Fuck the people that don't like Nancy, do an episode with Nancy, Lauren Lapkus' character Tracy and Little Gary
I'd love to hear Marissa Wompler and Listler thrown in there. Like some kind of summer camp or something.

Please also include Sarah Silverman AND Amy Phillips doing her Sarah Silverman

    in Womptacular 2: Summer Jamz.

  3. I'm starting to think this contest is a DamonCarltonAndAPolarBear-style bit of surrealist comedy, and Paul's requests on the minisodes will start growing ever more specific:

"Please avoid using green in your logo submission, since Jason suffers bouts of vertigo whenever he is exposed to the color green."
"We would like to announce that we are changing the name of the show to
    Cow
Did This Get Made? All future logo submissions should incorporate cows in some manner."
"Guys, due primarily to arguments that occurred during the logo judging process, June and I have decided to separate. Please...oh god...please only submit logos featuring Jason and myself from now on. [sobbing]"

  4. When Weird Al showed up, I thought for a split second that he was going to tell Scott and Paul to keep it down on their 'Best Year Ever' show, because Weird Al was trying to record a show right on the other side of the wall, and he was there first.

I thought he might be be the G-G-G-Ghost-st-st-st of Holiday Specials Past, apparating in the studio to show Scott and Paul the mistakes of their youths. (Scott double-booking Ace Ventura impersonators for a Mr. Show holiday party; Paul's ill-fated investment in zoot suits during the New Jack Swing era.)

  5. Interesting to hear Brody turn the tables on Howard! I also saw his HBO Go series and enjoyed it (yes!). By the way, please watch it via HBO Go instead of on the YouTube link posted above. I'm sure it would help Brody more to watch it through legitimate means, and it could lead to additional deals for him with HBO.

If it's any consolation, it appears Brody uploaded these to YouTube himself.

    EDIT: Maybe not.

  6. When will we learn the fate of the CBB TV series? I tweeted @IFCtv this week to ask when we'd be able to purchase an iTunes Season Pass for Season 2 but, alas, received no response.

Also, now that the venerated CBB stand-up show has performed its swan song, do Scott and Kulap have any plans to continue the Nativity Pageant? (Too soon?)

  7. I hope that is an old wive's tale but if it isn't I'll have to change some things so the amazon support ends up where I want it instead of nowhere.

Jaime, the scenario you describe is possible due to the way Amazon tracks who receives credit for your purchases.

Basically, the last affiliate ID you click is stored in your cookies. Since every Amazon link you encounter can theoretically include a different affiliate ID, that ID is constantly being overwritten. The only way to guarantee that Earwolf gets credit is to go through the Amazon link on Earwolf.com.

Still, many sites have links to specific Amazon product pages that include hard-coded affiliate IDs. If you unwittingly click one of those (or are sent one via e-mail, or have them bookmarked), the Earwolf ID will once again be overwritten. To help prevent this issue, I've installed these browser add-ons:

    for Google Chrome
    AffiliateFox
    for Mozilla Firefox
and entered the affiliate ID earwolf-20 in the settings for both. Your browser then overwrites every Amazon link you click to credit Earwolf instead of someone else.

  8. It's time to take the whole 'yo is this racist' franchise behind the barn and put it out of its misery.

    Nice try, Tom Tykwer.

This week's divergence from the norm was excellent! It's staggering to realize that, between Cloud Atlas, Speed Racer, and the Matrix sequels, the Wachowskis have flushed roughly half a billion dollars down the toilet.
