  1. Engineer Brett here,

It has always pained me to release these podcasts in such a low bitrate format. We were previously restricted by file size limits and such, but now we are much evolved as an operation and the streaming world has advanced to our needs.

I figured it's high time for us to upgrade!

Our previous standard was 48bit 22.050k sample rate MONO. Just threw up in my mouth a little. We are now going to release all of our podcasts in 112bit 44.1k in glorious STEREO as a minimum starting today. That may not seem like much, but as far as streaming podcasting standards go, it's like going from VHS to 3D Blu-Ray for your ears!

Listen to Andy Daly's new show for a great example of what a good stereo format can do for your podcast listening experience. Imagine Who Charted or Sklarbro Country where the music doesn't sound like it's being played on a transistor radio! It's a new era! Enjoy it!

  2. That Tunes Chart theme is simply incredible. You guys have played it on Whooch or Tooch before, because I've definitely heard it before. The "hee-haw!" in the middle is amazing.

I spent a good amount of time on it and liked it, then when I played it on the show Howard hated it so I never played it again. Cody must've dug it up. Did he react badly?

  3. i almost wish they would prerecord the doug calls and have my mentor thomas edit them down or someth but if that happened i guess doug might get mad and say mr bezser was making him look bad on purpsoe?

you think the podcast is live, thomas does the edits, and assume that the call you're hearing wasn't already edited? 0-3

if only you guys heard the full call, it's mind blowing how much that guy can talk.

  4. Thank you all for an incredible 2013! This show killed me from the first time I engineered, but this last year I've seen it truly become the best in the universe. I work extra hard on this show because I love it, and share Besser's hunger to get it to the top. He has been so good to me, and the guests have all been super cool to work and hang with. I feel like we have a well-oiled machine now that can't be stopped, really excited for 2014 plans! Your support and enthusiasm and participation really means a lot. Thanks humans!

Support Dragoon, and get the Improv Manual! I'm not even a comedian and I find it useful!

  5. I always try to keep it short on the mic but in some cases I wish I had opened up more. I wanted to express how amazing this year has been for me to work on this show. I have forged incredible relationships at Earwolf and been a part of some of the most magical creative and comedic moments I've ever seen, on and off record. Kulap and Howard in particular have become very dear friends of mine and working with them on podcasts and albums (and bundles), travelling to Sundance, havin' a summah with Howard, and all those moments behind the scenes have been absolute highlights that I will remember forever. They have been so good to me. I can't wait for next year!

I wanted to thank you guys too for being so incredibly supportive to the show, to Howard's music, and to me personally. I've generally been reserved on tooch because I didn't want to be a third wheel on the show, but hearing all the positive feedback has really helped me feel more comfortable finding my place. I've seen how your support directly boosts them too. It always feels new to read that people are actually listening and digging it. I feel like we are still developing and perfecting the show, it just gets better and better. Ok, enough sap. More ridiculous music coming soon! 2014 BulgaRIA! Thank you, happy new year!

  6. I like everything, seriously. I think I get the biggest kick out of a fully realized Shredstaurant ad, but I really like hearing nice stereo mixes of songs we hear so often on the podcast. Are you doing the mixing or is Howard? What software is he using for synth & drum tracks? Is everything being run through that Soundcraft board at the studio? Those are nice preamps (at least, the one I used was pretty decent).

Glad you liked it! I do all the mixing. For his albums and the theme songs, he does the basic tracks (I think abelton?) and I replace things and fill it out with extra stuff, edit everything, add sound design, arrange, mix, master, etc. He comes in with most of the lyrics but often there's a few lines we work on together. For the bundle, we recorded their voices and a few parts at Earwolf (Shredstaurant was written and improvised together while I had guitar in hand) but I did all the music and mixing at my home studio. Nothing was through the Soundcraft. Earwolf studio 2 has a Saffire pro 40 and I have an M-Audio Profire 2626 at home and my instruments and toys.

  7.

This made me look up some heights. I've noticed the Sklars seem pretty short in most pics. Google says they are 5'9", and it says Will is 6'3", but the height difference seems way more than that. Google also says Reggie is 6'0" and they were like 6 inches shorter than him on the CBBTV last week.

Engineer Brett, how tall do you think they really are?

    like 6'5" at least
