    The Big Hit (1998)

I own and just recently watched this as I love how bad it is. It was released in the late 90s but it comes off as if it was made in the early 90s with the various references and settings, like the video store and the wannabe white guy. I can see Jason freaking out over Marky Mark's hair which goes from flat on his head to Rick Astley style pompador to Col. Guile from Street Fighter.
  4. Just imagine if Inoki was able to use his full skillset rather than following a special rule set created when Ali realized Inoki was going to fight him for realsy.
  5. Thus creating what is considered the first MMA match by many, and also one of the worst.
  6. I think Inoki is like Minotauro Nogueira where he is legally unkillable.
  7. Yes and the character is somewhat likeable, the real Terry Bollea is not a very nice or honest guy.
  8. Yeah the Nasty Boys for some reason always had an air of superiority for themselves. And if you want a great laugh and have an hour to kill check out http://taimapedia.org/index.php?title=LOLTNA_History.
  9. Yeah apparently Waltman is doing a lot of work with the WWE regarding their new network and their Twitter. Again, just Triple H in the Hogan role of getting jobs for his friends now that he's in more power. The only plus side is that Triple H's buddies could carry a match for the most part, outside of Batista, and were popular in comparison to all the guys Hogan brought to TNA with him including Val Venis, the Nasty Boys, totally out of shape and unable to wrestle versions of Waltman and Scott Hall, and a slew of other ex-WWE/WCW guys.
  10. Yeah I did like the addition of if he loses Daniel Bryan is put into the main event, which works nice for nostalgic fans as it brings back memories of when Bret Hart lost to his brother Owen in the opening match of Wrestlemania X but then went on into the main event and beat Yokozuna for the WWF title. Unfortunately, the seemingly obvious fact that Bryan will walk away champion will be overshadowed by IWC jackholes complaining that it was too obvious, even after months of them complaining about him not being in the title hunt before. What is even a bit funny about this coming WM is for the Hall of Fame ceremony you have Linda McMahon inducting the Ultimate Warrior, as apparently she is the only person in the company that he hasn't pissed off, and that it seems they are saving the announcement of Scott Hall being inducted until the very last announcement even though most people think it is a forgone conclusion he will be in this year.
  11. I had seen Jericho's interview where he mentioned that, but the amount Vince paid for WCW has fluctuated from as high as 5 million to as low as 2, but either way it was a steal, especially considering SFX, the group Bischoff was with, had offer Ted Turner half a billion for the company and TV contract. Yeah every Wrestlemania usually has a dark opener which is a battle royal so that the lower card guys can get the bonus for technically being at Wrestlemania, but now with this hype it will probably open the PPV. And to be fair MVP was an upper-midcard guy and occasional main eventer, especially when he was on Smackdown, so it is a decent get for TNA. I just don't trust them to do the right thing with the character. What's funny now is that the WWE is basically doing stuff that WCW was doing by letting a wrestler be a booker and on-screen talent in Triple H (which never works out for the promotion as the guy usually just bumps up himself and his buddies over those that the fans want to see) and for keeping guys at the top way longer than they should, though it seems they are trying to cycle in a new face of the company. I always enjoy watching the big events for the WWE like the Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania for nostalgia reasons. I used to write for Bleacher Report and it's always great talking something that people have such a connection with. Though at times the fanboy becomes too much for some, especially if you say anything about the current IWC darling.
  12. Yeah WCW was famous for losing money they should have been making. During one of their Australian tours in the final years of the company, they had great house shows that were constantly sold out, despite putting out a terrible product. Unfortunately they were losing money because they made deals with the different arenas saying they would pay back the cost of any empty seats within the arena, this unfortunately and I'm assuming unwittingly, the seats that were empty due to putting up production equipment and sets.
  13. Hogan even admitted in interviews that he turned down the spot initially, but realized he was getting stale as a good guy and decided to take the leap. It was either going to be him, Sting, or Bret Hart. They couldn't get Hart after he was offered a 20 year deal with the WWF, and they decided on putting Hogan in the NWO. As for the video with the Wall, that's even more hilarious when at that time, Hogan wore glasses in his regular life so for him to see the Wall from what must have been a mile away is a real head-scratcher. This whole scenario with Hogan's BS is eerily similar to the scene of the WCW movie "Ready to Rumble" where two idiot wrestling fans contradict their favorite wrestler's parents about their son's life, solely because it was in his authorized biography, even going as far to claim that the dad was dead even though he was standing right in front of him.

    300: Rise of an Empire

Are we really worrying about spoilers for Pompeii since we all know how the real story ends and the fact that the last scene of the movie is on the poster?
  15. It's even worse when the son talks with momma Hogan. She actually says that the friend's mom never really understood her own son and that momma Hogan was more of a mom to the guy than she was.

    300: Rise of an Empire

Homophobia? If anything these are the most unintentionally homoerotic movies since Dude Where's My Car?

    300: Rise of an Empire

Yeah the shitty one with Kellan Lutz, it was out for about a week or two before disappearing from theaters.

    300: Rise of an Empire

Just got finished watching this and it wasn't so bad as long as you know what you are seeing, stylish action with not much else. There is blood spill that would rival Kill Bill vol 1 and the fights are really the focal point as the makers of this realize it's what people are coming to see. There is a bit of a tonal change in what seems to be an attempt to ape that of Game of Thrones as there is a woman's tits center screen for a good 30 seconds within the first five minutes of the movie, a throne made of skulls, rapes, fuck fighting, and quasi politics. It would make for an okay episode, but I have a feeling people are going to skewer this movie when it's pretty clear what it was going to be.
  19. Hogan is known as one of the greatest politicians in the history of wrestling and has always been out for himself, but some of these things are laughably false, even for him. I remember hearing the Foreman Grill story and when talking about Pride, Hogan may have mixed that up with Pancrase, which started in 93, that was a very grey mix of pro wrestling and MMA.

    R.I.P.D. (2013)

Coming this winter, Jeff Bridges plays a skinhead who bucks the system by refusing to shave off his shoulder length locks in "Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow."

    RoboCop 3 (1993)

Yeah if you ever want to see a larger group of racist, hispter, art student cynics that use text speak like your average valley girl, you don't have to look any further than those boards.

    McConaughey

He was good in Wolf, but there was just too much crazy awesomeness in that movie to pinpoint what was the best.

    RoboCop 3 (1993)

True dat. I've really grown to love this forum as it is nowhere near as volatile or movie hipster filled as the imdb forums (if you don't believe me go there and look at the forums of any movie you love or a recent award winner). For the most part this forum stays civil, outside of the annual summer "nominate each week's new release" from a first time poster, which is very much a rarity online these days.

    McConaughey

Woody was in 2012, that right there is as nuts as failure to launch.
