I could understand Kevin Costner saving that woman and her baby, but the dog was a stretch for me as the Tornado was basically five feet away from the car. Also, didn't Martha send him back to get the dog? See, murder plot evolves right there,
-
The border collie was an interesting part to think about because Kevin Costner, who to me was the worst part of this movie, allows himself to be killed to save the family dog. That dog apparently died shortly after as when Clark goes back to his home, they have a new dog, so Costner sacrificed himself for nothing, that or it was a very elaborate plot by Martha and the dog to kill Costner and inherit the family farm, which I'm sure is a front for the biggest meth lab in Kansas.

What's great is that Emilio was a big star at the time when this came out as it was his first major movie after St. Elmo's Fire and The Breakfast Club, and it basically killed him as a leading man for a few years. And they did make a direct to DVD remake of the movie called Trucks and starred Timothy Busfield. King being coked off his balls was interesting as I previously mentioned the giant exploding head squib when the kid got crushed by a steamroller, King thought it was hilarious and fought hard to keep it in the movie. And that ice cream truck freaked me the hell out as a kid.

Snyder seems to have his niche as an adaptation director as everything he's done outside of Sucker Punch was an adaptation/remake of another property faired okay at least with critics. I enjoyed Man of Steel as I enjoy the modern Superman comics that have more emotion/realism to them, which is what this movie is going off of. It didn't feel long when I was watching it, which was surprising as This Is the End felt long at points and is an hour shorter than this movie.

In the voice of Jason, HOW THE FUCK WAS THIS RATED PG?!?!?!
-
Yes. I relisten to the old episodes between each new episode. Such a change from when Burlesque and Season of the Witch were both under 40 minutes to episodes like From Justin to Kelly and this one being 90 minutes. Love it.

Yeah it was announced on the HDTGM Facebook page. It seems Stallone has become the new Nic Cage for the show.

Yeah part 2 of the videos is pretty good too. Always knew Snipes was off a bit when it came to acting, I'm still laughing about how Blade Trinity was made.

It's absurd how popular that series has become. For one, most people who have had sex of any kind or are into BDSM realize how bullshit the stories are. Bondage fans are upset because the book doesn't showcase that lifestyle but rather misogyny. And more so the books are horribly written from a subject and grammatical standpoint. Remember this was a self published book through in the beginning, but the publisher should have put it through some editors when it picked it up steam. And I wasn't joking about the make it PG by Disney line, as I have had many tween girls come in and check this book out at the library where I work.
-
No, it has to be PG and done by Disney.

That was the funny thing too about Dredd/Raid comparisons. Dredd was actually written and filmed before the Raid had even started production, but they pushed The Raid out into theaters before Dredd which led to people making claims that ideas were stolen by either party.
-
I'd love an episode on The Raid, and I think it would have to be a movie like that which is fairly grounded in some reality in order to work for the show. I think for the most part the crazy Japanese movies are too crazy for the show. I know I recommended the Machine Girl a while back but I now realize it just wouldn't work cuz everything in Japanese cinema is like one big acid trip laced in meth. p.s. If the first teaser is any indication, The Raid's sequel is going to be just as insane. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=davnZOjqEM8

The Happening - (it's never happening, but talk about it if you want)
RyanSz replied to temjeito's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
Just because it's not being done right now, doesn't mean it will not ever happen. Some were making the point that it was made to seem like this was a conspiracy on the level of who shot JFK as to why they weren't doing this movie at this time. This led to people becoming super defensive and hostile. Saying that you're right all along isn't going to help with some of these people. -

Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan
RyanSz replied to RyanSz's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
They made one a couple years back that was almost 5 hrs long called His Name Was Jason. The same guys then did one for the whole Nightmare On Elm Street series that was the same amount of time. But since a couple more movies have come out in the Friday franchise, those same people are releasing this new documentary. The Nightmare one was fantastic as it went in depth with interviews of not only the stars of the movie but even tertiary characters who had memorable moments in the movies. -

Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan

My thoughts exactly. I honestly can't wait for the 7 1/2 hour documentary to come out that goes into detail about how all of the Friday the 13th movies were made, just so I can hear about how fucked up it was to make this and Jason X. -
That's what I wrote about in my first post on this thread as I started to notice a trend. I don't know if it's someone trolling using different accounts or what. And to be fair, I don't have high hopes for Z just on a CGI standpoint and how much it strays from the source material, but it would have to be a fail of "After Earth" proportions for me to start a thread on it.

I don't feel grim cuz it's a movie and I just go for the entertainment and realize its not real. I shut my mind off for the most part in knowing it's a sci-fi comic movie. And for the most part the point was made that the buildings were almost entirely evacuated by the time Superman arrived at Metropolis, so when Zod and he were fighting in buildings, especially in higher stories, they were empty. It was kind of A-Team in that aspect.
-
Superman has killed before though, he killed Doomsday as well as Zod, Faora and Quex-Ul of another universe after he used their krytptonite to de-power them. Then depending on the universe, Superman has killed others depending on the storyline. Unlike virtually all Batman stories, Superman will kill but will only use it as a last resort and will be tore up about it afterwards for having done so. This isn't the Superman of the gold/silver age where he was the perfect boyscout, the past couple decades have been about Superman figuring his place in the world and what he should do with his advantages like whether he should become a hero or a tryant. As for the massive casualties, that is very much in line with comics where events like this happen and those outcomes are understood. The only superhero movie that really put a face to that was The Avengers when the different news feed were doing man on the street interviews and assessing the damage. And there is good that happens in the movie, Earth doesn't become Krypton II.

Wow this looks really low budget straight to DVD level. And this reminds of "The Challenge" starring Darren McGavin as a US soldier chosen to fight a soldier from an unnamed Asian country to the death in order to avert war between the two nations.

I got a spidery vibe as well since a lot of Krypton's decor was animal like (the dragonfly animal, the robot that with a snakelike tail, and the frozen ship that looks like a cocoon). And since Superman hasn't had the best track record on film, I'm hoping they go for some awesome villians like Braniac or Doomsday, while having Lex Luthor in a smaller side role to start off.
