I loved this movie for how insane it is. From a psychotic little league team to a robot addicted to drugs, this movie was batshit insane. Frank Miller's original script was actually butchered quite a bit and segments of it were split between this movie and Robocop 3. The whole story was actually made into a comic book by Miller, which is pretty nuts in of itself. The private police force from Robocop 3 was the first phase in the female executive's plan to remove Robocop and improve the city, but most of those guys were murdering lunatics who kill whoever they come across, Robo kills them which leads to the evil robot being made. It basically follows the fight scene from the movie up to the point where the female executive puts her own brain into the robot to fight Robocop. If there was ever a time to think that Frank Miller was on Coke it's this or All Star Batman and Robin.

Glad I am not alone in my love of Saw and Final Destination, two movies who know what their audiences want, stupid people dying horrible deaths.

The Final Destination movies that were in 3D were pretty good because they realized that 3D is a gimmick made for horror. There was blood and gore flying at you all for cheesy goodness.

The way I look at it was that there were some of the religious group on the military ship, so they would have a chapel available to them. The goo is sort of like the movie Pandorum, in that movie passengers on a ship heading to a new planet were injected with a special enzyme that would help their body evolve to their new surroundings. Unfortunately, they were woken up early and so their bodies evolved to the dark, metallic environment of the ship and horribly mutated them. The goo works in a similar way that it evolves bodies to their surroundings within a general body, hence the worms in the dirt of the crucifixion room looked like slimmer facehuggers and the womb alien was a mix between sperm and the worm/facehugger. And when the mohawk got goo on his helmet which melted into his face, he evolved to that immediate environment. Then the final Alien came from the Architect which led to it looking slightly different than the Alien we have seen before. So I don't think it's based on beliefs, but rather the environment it reacts with.

Or that Lincoln wants to pull a Jefferson and bang his help and you would have to have Lincoln cover his dick with his top hat a la Family Guy.
-
That was apparently the case. Ridley Scott said in an interview that the engineers had come back to earth and were what equated to Jesus, who when crucified, led to the engineers giving up on the race. Remember in the beginning of the movie where the ceremony takes place and the engineer in the robe kills himself and falls into the waterfall? That was apparently meant to be the start of evolution on the planet started by a religious group within the engineers. One of the theories about the movie is that there were two groups in that race, the religious ones in the beginning who went around creating life on other planets and the military ones who trying to clean up their messes. It all came to a head apparently where it looked like the military found this big cache of black liquid which led to someone getting a it on them and being mutated, leading to the events of the movie. And I would definitely watch a movie centered on Noomi and Fass-head, since they were the best performers in the movie and to see if it would get nominated for best on screen couple by the MTV movie awards.

I always wondered about that. Run left or right and towards the rolling ship so that it will roll past you, that way when it falls onto its side you won't get crushed either. Bitches be crazy I guess.

They have already began moving forward in getting a sequel started and that Lindelof would not be back as writer saying that he has other commitments.

That was my point in my previous post, the crew of specialists were not told of what they were doing or why they were brought together since only the results mattered. I would assume they were ushered in to the ship and immediately told they were going into cryo-sleep since Weyland admitted he was knocking on death's door. He wanted them at the planet as fast as possible in order to see if he could save his life by learning the secrets of the Architects. Now I will agree that the snake petting was stupid, but I think we can all agree that those two needed to die.

Yeah Michael Madsen has said that movie was a horrible experience but that he would work with Boll again. from http://www.starpulse.com/news/index.php/2008/08/30/michael_madsen_still_scarred_by_bloodray : "He put me on some crazy Romanian horses. I've done a little riding and I knew the second I got on that animal that it did not know what it was supposed to do. They (horses) all ran off in different directions and went berserk every time they'd clap the clapperboard to start a scene. My horse ran right into a tree and threw me in a water tank." And that was just the first day. Madsen continues, "I had a catheter in my arm because I was sick from eating the food over there. I lost 12 pounds. I was attacked by gnats in the middle of the Romanian jungle and I had to dive into the water while being attacked by bees. It was a very strange experience - on the way to the set I'd come across potato carts and dead horses. I don't even know what his movies are about and why he keeps the same theme of people in the jungle and the vampires who ride in from space (sic). What are you doing Uwe? BloodRayne was an abomination... It's a horrifying and preposterous movie." But, saying all that, Madsen would consider making another movie with the eccentric filmmaker: "Uwe was fun. If he called me tomorrow and wanted me to be in a movie I would do it."

I am in the small minority that actually really liked the movie. My main problem with it was that they were selling it as the prequel to the Alien franchise and would answer all of the questions from that series but instead left questions for its own series. To me the personalities of all the characters made sense for the most part, seeing as this was set 30 years before Alien. It is mentioned that they were all the best in their fields and were handpicked by Weyland, who was looking for a Fountain of Youth and to him only results mattered. It didn't matter to him if the group worked well together, just as long as they found the Architects alive. On the other side you have Charlize Theron who plays the Weyland suit, only there for the company's interest in finding a way to profit off of whatever was found, and in the middle was Michael Fassbender who was there to test the full capabilities of an alien race's technology for the benefit of the company and Weyland himself. Everyone else is basically cannon fodder as long as the goal of finding the Architects is met. Cut to 30 years later in Alien, Weyland now Weyland-Yutani has had time to figure out just a bit of what has happened, probably as result of the Prometheus sequels that are in development, as well as a way to get what they want from the derelict vessel/Space Jockey/Architects. Again the crew is cannon fodder made up of people who are out of their element, stupid, or vulnerable to cracking under pressure, save for Dallas and Ripley. The android of their crew is now there solely for the sake of the company, devoid of the emotion David showed in Prometheus, and is willing to kill as long as the goal is met. For the most part, Prometheus sets up as a good lead-in to the Alien franchise, but it does have a few plot holes and inconsistencies with some of the crew. The studio should have realized how people were going to react to the movie after using the Alien movies as a selling point, and Lindeloff may not have been the best guy to add questions to an already question filled mythology. And as others have stated, this most likely won't be done since Lindeloff was on the show and may take issue with it, while as someone like Kevin Smith who was also on the show would be fine with one of his movies being discussed.

I love it too for some unknown reason, probably because I have a special place in my heart for guilty pleasure movies. And from the reviews of the movie that I've read most critics were upset that they didn't completely redo the wheel, instead opting to make a straight sequel. I myself thought it was good to connect it to the original Pan instead of tinkering a lot with the story like the 5 or so re-imaginings of Peter Pan that are set to come out in the next couple of years.
-
The other thing I forgot to mention is that this movie created a great, longstanding rumor that Michael Jackson hired a voodoo priest to put a curse on Spielberg and WIlliams in revenge for not getting the part of Peter Pan, which he desperately wanted apparently.
-
Yeah he has been quoted as saying that he liked parts of the movie, but there are hundreds of comments like that on this message board. Julia also apparently had an assistant whose only job was to make sure the bottom of Julia's feet looked clean since the majority of her role called for her to be using wire work, so I can imagine she was a treat to deal with in those moments of feet wiping. No, I would never demean prostitutes and loose women by comparing them to Julia.
-
Yeah they sell the original cut in porn stores still, so that should tell you something. I also have to think that they got Helen Mirren in it because of Peter O'Toole and Malcolm.
-
It's what I like to call divas who go beyond being a diva, think Linda Fiorentino and all of the stories about her. That and Julia Roberts has had a history or being really difficult to work with, though I think that may be because she has a baboon's ass for lips.

And CBB episode 55 with Jason and Natasha Leggero where Bob thanks his therapists and reads his epic poem "A Ship Called Hope."
-
But Boll has made a habit of filming in Romania because it's super cheap.
-
Yeah this is how Boll has basically funded all of his shitty video game adaptations. When a movie flops, he basically gets his money back and adds some more money to the budget and it flops again. Rinse and repeat. Although I think the laws have been overhauled in the past couple years so it may not be as much of a saving grace as it used to be.
-
God Uwe Boll could have a whole series of episodes dedicated to his work.
-
No, it's clearly The Bruno.

And see I liked X3 for how it handled the storylines set up in the previous movie, especially Phoenix which should have never been brought up since it's such a huge part of the X-Men universe. The sad thing about PA and Saw is like with all horror movies, they are so cheap to make for the most part that a studio is almost guaranteed to make a profit off of them. I mean the only Friday the 13th movie to not make a real profit was the shitty Jason X, which goes to show that even Jason Takes Manhattan was financially successful. The biggest budget for one of those movies was with Freddy vs. Jason which was 25 million which is a drop in the bucket these days for a blockbuster movie. As far as phase two goes for superhero movies, I think the Thor, Iron Man, and Cap. America sequels will be fine because they have the same amount of oversight as their predecessors. The ones that can really cause a tip are Man of Steel and Guardians of the Galaxy. Man of Steel because it is trying to be a gritty Superman movie coming off of a very boring lackluster Superman Returns, though its possible since DC has been changing the character a bit in order to prepare its audience for the new look. Guardians of the Galaxy is the one that is going to have a lot of people looking at it under a microscope as it's rumored to be mentioned in the new Iron Man movie and it is supposed to link in with Avengers 2 and lead to Phase 3 for the Marvel film universe. It's being directed by James Gunn of Super and Sliver fame so the work is really going to have to speak for itself coming from a cult director. Also, the series isn't as well known as other Marvel properties so it is going to take some heavy publicity to sell this movie to people which makes the need for it to be successful even larger. -

To me it seems PA is getting really close to its Saw tipping point as well, especially with the rumor there is going to be a Spanish spinoff. Saw was fine for me up until the 6th one which was basically a hamfisted political statement about healthcare which I found ironic in a horror movie. The others had just enough story to connect the dots but became more and more about traps, hell there were even two seasons of a reality show on VH1 where actresses tried out to become a nameless victim in the movies. Superhero movies have bounced back from the tipping point with the Marvel movies and Dark Knight series, but the tipping point really should have happened after X-Men became a huge hit and then people were spitting out Ghost Rider, Elektra, Daredevil, Hulk, and the Fantastic Four sequel. -

I was always a fan of the torture porn since even though they were about the gore, they had some semblance of story that set up the whole frame as to why these people were dying such horrible deaths. The jump-scare genre I feel is "hipster horror" or "teen horror" where douchebags in American Eagle or Ed Hardy claim that these movies are the top of the horror foodchain. The Saw series, for all of its issues of becoming solely for gorehounds, still had a decent story for the most part with concern to a man wanting revenge against those who took their lives for granted and so he built this underworld group to exact that revenge. Paranormal Activity had a decent story for the first movie about a couple trying to figure out if their house was haunted, but the story fell apart in the sequels as it was revealed it was all a part of some cult targeting the two sisters. Plus with found footage movies they are at the disadvantage of having to come up with a plausible reason for their being a visual camera that the characters know about, which it has failed at for the last couple of sequels. -

What's funny is that Paranormal Activity basically took the place of the Saw movies which were coming out every Halloween but got progressively worse ratings, now PA is doing the same thing.
