Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (2011)
RyanSz replied to Quasar Sniffer's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
This wasn't that bad of a movie, at least for Nic Cage. I liked the Crank feel and look to the movie, though it was hurt by it being PG-13. One thing that makes this movie especially insane is the behind the scenese stuff like how Cage prepared for the movie by trying to summon the spirit of death. According to the cracked.com article "4 Actors Who Went Through Physical Torture for Stupid Movies" Cage painted his face to resemble voodoo death spirit Baron Samedi and even sewed Egyptian relics into his jacket to believe that he was summoning ghosts. He just looks crazy with his face painted, which seemed to be whenever he was supposed to be the Ghost Rider.- 24 replies

Seriously Japan what the fuck?

Oh yeah they are all insane, especially Gore Police and Geisha, but Machine Girl is shocking in that it's crazy while people think it's normal in that movie world.Even movies like Battle Royale or Battle Baseball would be great for the show just to hear June get confused five minutes into the episode and Jason to go insane, like Battlefield Earth or Mac and Me insane.

Holy shit I was just thinking about this movie like you said, some scenes you never forget. That roller coaster is off the wall crazy. Even more absurd is how Aykroyd got $40 million to make this movie and it only made $8.5 million.

In the vein of Japanese shock/gore action movies, The Machine Girl may be the most insane. A girls brother is killed by bullies who are connected a ninja-Yakuza gang and she wants revenge. After losing her arm she gets a makeshift machine gun from the mother of a boy who was killed along with her brother. All sorts of craziness happens including panko arms, headless bodies being used like super soakers, and people being electricuted they fall into a puddle of pee wearing an electrical drill bra. I am not making any of this up. Here is the full dubbed movie from youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHyKNKr-7Dk

How has this movie not been brought up yet?! This movie falls into both categories for Crazy Nic Cage and Crazy John Travolta movies as well has batshit John Woo films. More so, this was I feel the start of Cage's downfall. There was that trilogy of summer action blockbusters for Cage after he won his Oscar (The Rock, Con Air, and Face/Off) with the last two coming out 3 weeks apart from each other in June of 1997. Then he had City of Angels before going full on crazy with things like Snake Eyes and 8mm. This movie was insane in how both Travolta and Cage and to play themselves playing each other. Then you add on face surgery, an ocean prison where prisoners wear the boots from Super Mario Bros. (I'm not kidding, they look exactly the same), horrible editing where you see the pulley wires for when guys get shot, Margaret Cho doing karate, and of course doves before shootouts. You also have a gunfight to "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and Cage as a headbanging preacher who plants a bomb with a cartoon that flashes its big tits, this has HDTGM written all over it.

I loved watching this movie as a kid for how insane it was. Heads in jars, F. Murray Abraham on his continued downfall after winning an Oscar, Gary Busey being Gary Busey, and so much more. The only unfortunate thing is that **Spoiler for a nearly 20 year old movie** Gary Busey is the first of the hunters to die, leaving us robbed of more insanity.
-
When I was a kid I remember there being urban legends of roving gangs trying to catch kids, most used puppies or candy to get you to go with them, but I also remember the clowns. There is a book series that talks called Weird "insert state or USA", they talked about the clown gangs as well and even creepier things like the Bunny Man who would try to kidnap kids in some woods outside a town while wearing a dirty pink bunny outfit. You are not alone Jason.

I actually own this movie and only for it being a guilty pleasure. The shit weasels were part of the book along with Morgan Freeman's character being a douche. But Donnie Walhberg going full tard and phone gun were batshit crazy. I think Walhberg thought he could get an Oscar nod from this and went Radio on our asses. Also have we mentioned that Donnie Walhberg secretly being an ALIEN?!?! That was way out of left field. Though to be honest, the book tries to keep itself a little more grounded in sci-fi fans understanding of aliens , but the shared psychic shit was too much.

Backyard Dogs (2000 - 1.8 on IMDb)
RyanSz replied to GuyLaFarge's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
They probably get them wholesale at Walmart, the same place where the preppy kids on the Backyard DVDs get their trampolines. Because if we know anything about backyard wrestling, it's either white trash kids fighting on crudely made rings in their dirt backyard or preppy kids fighting on their trampolines. -

RyanSz replied to GuyLaFarge's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
There was only one guy from the "Best of Backyard Wrestling" DVDs who has actually made it as an independant wrestler and that was M-Dogg 20 who actually had some talent as a high flyer, he even appeared on that short lived Wrestling Society X show on MTV which deserves a HDTGM episode for being Crank levels of insane, youtube it and you'll see what I mean. The rest of these guys have the ECW mindset of that time where they thought that just stabbing each other with broken light tubes equaled wrestling. The matches were fun to watch for how nuts these kids were, but most of them had no chance of making it. -

Thanks for making me remember this crapfest. I rented it from Blockbuster when it came out because it looked like it was a movie version of those "Best of Backyard Wreslting" DVDS that had white trash kids beating the shit out of each other with softcore pornstars showing their tits, including Major Gunns from WCW. This movie is utter dreck, you feel kinda bad too because the Black Power Ranger is reduced to this kind of movie where somehow backyard wreslting gets you mega-fame and fortune. Oh and you can get the movie on Amazon for about 90 cents. -
I can already imagine Jason yelling "BOWLING BALL HOUSE!!!"
-
I told you guys it was going to be Cobra, can't wait to hear this episode.

I used to watch that movie on HBO as a kid if I couldn't find porn because it had the longest sex scenes that I've ever seen in a movie, I think that's where Tommy Wiseau got his inspiration for The Room.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (1994)
RyanSz replied to Dylanbydesign's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
Yeah they all went pretty wacky, though New Nightmare and Jason Goes to Hell weren't that bad. The Halloween series was terrible after the second one, which is why I was kind of surprised that the third one hasn't been done by this show yet. TCM was a great horror movie in how shocking it truly was with shoving women on meathooks and carving up guys in wheelchairs. The second one was kind of crazy, though that always happens when you have Dennis Hopper in a cowboy hat dancing with chainsaws. But Next Generation had a tranny Leatherface and the illuminati guy had like scars and nipple rings in his chest, just next level insanity. Althought the nympho "bride" to McConaughey had a sweet rack that she loved showing off to any guy who honked his horn.- 27 replies

Holy shit is this movie insane. From a crossdressing Leatherface to the illuminate being behind the cannibal family, this movie has everything deserving of a HDTGM episode outside of having Nic Cage in it. Even more shocking is this features both Renee Zellweger and Matthew McConaughey before they became mainstream stars.- 27 replies

I'm still waiting for the director's cut that features the infamous but never seen exploding head scene where the kid getting crushed by a steamroller had his head explode with a giant squib when it was crushed. It had to be cut in order to get an R rating.

I've seen all but the second movie in theaters, and it wasn't until the forth one that I checked out when it came to story/plot. Everyone is a zombie or a strugling survivor, there are no consumers but for some reason this company is still designing new zombies/monsters trying to kill the survivors. Then you have the fifth movie that was built around a "shocking revelation" which I thought was going to be that the previous three movies were all a simulation that started after Alice was taken from the mansion, but instead it's just that there are a lot of clones and Wesker had somehow survived a nuclear explosion happening two feet in front of him. I would have loved to see how he survived, especially when they had that awesome shot in the opening credit showing what happened after the end of the fourth movie. I agree that Alice has a one shot kill cheat code on because I don't think I've seen her miss a shot or a shot that didn't kill almost everything. Plus, what has happened to the little girl from the second movie? Is she supposed to be back in the final movie with Chris and Claire?

Highlander II: The Quickening (1991)
RyanSz replied to JSacks06's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
I just rewatched this movie and forgot how batshit insane it truly is. After how good the first movie was in a cult movie kind of way, this one does a complete 180. From the characters being aliens to assassins who act like birds to Chris Lambert just wishing Sean Connery back into existence and a train accident that is all kinds of crazy, this movie is perfect for HDTGM. It was so bad that they made to alternate versions of the film to try and make it better, which it does to some extent, but it still has some of the qualitites that make it a perfect film for this podcast.- 76 replies
