I don't care how the person gets to where they question their morals, I just at least want the tone to be the dark tone it was because that is the only way it works without becoming schlocky. I actually liked the first 30-45 seconds as it showed Willis trying to deal with this loss and figuring out he needed to get his hands dirty, even using death traps to get his revenge, because it was still in that tone. Even with Eli Roth as the director I thought this would be the right combo because he can get the violence and darkness where it needs to be, then it all goes south real quick. I can tell you right now that if you wanted to make this trailer the right tone and a total home run, replace "Back in Black" with "In the Air Tonight" by Phil Collins. There's a song with a brooding tone about loss and coming to grips with moving forward and with the old urban legends about the song it would work well for a vigilante film. Hell inter cut the crescendo drum beat to bullet shots to sell the movie to action fans, and BAM you just won Hollywood. I would love to see Denzel in the role as he would finally be in a Death Wish movie after years of people mistaking him for having his first role being in the original Death Wish as a nameless thug.

One of the many reasons that I felt that Roger Ebert was an overrated movie critic as he gave this 3 out of 4 stars.

I'm not ready to put this in the recommendation thread but this trailer really caused me to pause and consider seeing this movie, solely for how much it strays from the tone it sets up in the first 30 seconds. The Death Wish films are dark, serious action movies where the main character does a complete 180 from his lifelong viewpoints to become a vigilante, yet this one has Bruce Willis smirking and joking with people, all set to Back in Black by AC/DC. The song itself sets the wrong tone for the film as it's a metal song with an upbeat tempo that is a polar opposite of what the movie should be. I'm hoping this is just a bad trailer, but would not be surprised if this was Bruce Willis being Bruce Willis and just wanting to play it like he's played every role for the past 15 years.

I liked it as well but I figured out the twist about halfway through the film which was kind of a letdown. Didn't realize it was based on a comic or that it was set at the end of the Cold War so that was a nice change of pace from what I was expecting although I felt they muddled up the middle only to try and conceal the twist and make it to a 2hr run time.

Of for sure there have been too many changing opinions in making this as it had been development for so long, though I know that when Ron Howard and Brian Grazer were attached they only backed out because of other projects coming up at a faster pace than this was, which is apparently what has been happening on the It remake, which itself is not a complete adaptation of the novel, but only the first half which focuses solely on the Losers Club as kids when they first encounter It. When I first started hearing about this movie and what characters were being featured I was a bit concerned and angry as characters like the ones Jackie Earle Haley and Abbie Lee play aren't in the book series until the final couple books, and there was no mention of other members of Roland's group that were there for 90% of the books, but when I read that it was a sequel and why they were doing it I was fine with it.

It's also been a while since I've seen it, but I remember that he framed her in order to have his life insurance policy got to their kid which he would use when she was in prison, but weren't they super wealthy at the start of the film? Was she the wealthy one in the couple or was it coming from both of them because otherwise him wanting a bit more money through a confusing murder/insurance scam is way more trouble than its worth. Also is this the first time he's done this or has he fathered a dozen kids across the country and framed an equal amount of women in order to get wealthy?

Okay, as a lover of the series I can say that I really enjoyed this movie. I noticed in a lot of the reviews I read that many reviewers were expecting this to be an adaptation of the books, but this is not trying to condense 4500+ pages of story into 90 minutes, this is a SEQUEL to the series. Now while that may seem backwards to make a sequel to a series that many viewers may not have seen, it works perfectly for this movie because it allowed the studio to have its cake and eat it to as new viewers would be seeing a story that they wouldn't know was a sequel as at the end of the series This also allows for lovers of the series like myself to come in not expecting it to follow the books to the letter and get a new chapter in the series that we love. The 90 minute run time could have been extended a bit to further explain some of the world and its inhabitants, but it seemed that they were more focused on setting up the future chapters with references to the Crimson King and other members of Roland's group of travelers. I am perplexed by the movie to miniseries to movie format as I'm assuming some brainchild thought they could beat Marvel to the punch in combining a cinematic universe with its TV counterpart, as having it on a channel like HBO or AMC would have better suited a straight adaptation. Overall though it doesn't come off as bad as other King adaptations like Dreamcatcher or Thinner, but it's not near the best like Carrie or the Shining.

What gets me is the whole premise hinges on Greenwood letting his kid exclaim "Daddy!" loud enough on the phone so that she hears and realizes that he's alive. Also the whole idea that Judd can murder her husband and get away with it is bunk, because Double Jeopardy is about getting tried for the same offense i.e. stabbing her husband to death at the beginning of the film. While she couldn't get tried again for that crime, there is nothing from stopping her being tried for shooting him at the end of the movie.

Episode 168 - Hard Ticket to Hawaii: LIVE!

I now feel really old when this is brought up by my younger coworkers (18-20s) who have NO IDEA about scrambled channels or that one family member who had a black box to get free cable/PPV, especially in the era of where you can get porn on your fricking phone. As a kid going through puberty you always prayed for an adult movie to have a white background or setting because somehow that caused the scrambled channel to go unscrambled, so you had unfiltered free porn, albeit for a couple minutes, but that was like finding the Holy Grail for a growing kid. That was of course until you realized that the Drama section of Blockbuster is where all of the softcore or R rated versions of pornos were, unknown to most parents. I buy DVDs for the library that I work at, and when the final Blockbuster in my town closed, my director decided to do some purchasing himself so he went nuts and spent almost a grand buying anything he could get his hands on at the store to use for our collection. I had to double check what he was getting because he too was naive about what was in that section, because I can tell you that parents wouldn't be too pleased if their kid brought home the R rated version of Pirates from Digital Playground. -

I think this should answer your question. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZ8EeZoxjzk As for Sidaris' Emmy, he won it in 1969 for his helping in the coverage of the Olympics, which is shared with seven other people. I can also save everyone the trouble of thinking if there is ANY connection between the films in this 12 movie "series," as there is nothing between the movies that connects, outside of the same actors being used and similar locations. One movie would feature a group of actors as the heroes killing another group which were the villains, and the following movie would feature most of the same actors but usually flipped in the roles of protagonist and antagonist. The latter few are basically just softcore pornos as while the first couple in the series had topless scenes that were basically done like mentioned in the show as being needing to shower or change into work clothes, etc. In the final few movies there are basically a bunch of scenes like the sex scenes in The Room with various subplots and quick gunfights in between. As for Ronn Moss (Rowdy), I have to assume that he found the same fountain of youth that Keanu Reeves found because that man has not aged a day since this film or when he was on The Bold and the Beautiful, outside of a bit more gray in his hair. That man is still goddamn gorgeous. Also, with having him in the film, why the hell did they not get Player to do a song for the soundtrack or at least use "Baby Come Back" during one of the Jacuzzi scenes? -
I liked Secret Invasion as a storyline in comics, but it doesn't work well in movie form, especially for a established franchise like Marvle has created. It would make sense for Fury to be creating SWORD, as it would make sense in where the films have headed and the fact that Fury was revealed as the "Man on the Wall" in the comics who was spending his whole career secretly destroying alien enemies worse than what the superheroes were facing without anyone ever knowing. As for Brie not being in Infinity War, I know it's to be taken with a grain of salt, but she is listed on the IMDB cast list for the film, so maybe she's in the credit stinger. Also, apparently Peter Dinklage is listed in the cast, which only adds to the cast list that is one of the most star heavy films I've ever seen.

THIS^^^ The bulk of Sidaris' films are basically what Tommy Wiseau did by accident with The Room, but Sidaris did on purpose. Sidaris basically wanted to make B movies using a rotating cast of regular actors mixed in with C-list celebrities like Erik Estrada and Pat Morita. Hard Ticket really is the best of the ones he made because it does try to be an action movie that just oozes 80s, albeit with a few slightly longer sex scenes that the average theatrical release. It's only in his later movies do there tend to be more sex scenes but even in those the actors still play with a straight face that they are these various spies or assassins. The movie is up there with Deadly Prey and Undefeatable in regards to greatest cheesy B-action movies and should make for a great episode.

Andy Sidaris seemed to, having seen most of his movies. I bought this set for five bucks and it's worth every penny because the first half of the movies are all glorious B-movies, which is what he wanted to make. The latter half are basically softcore pornos that star Penthouse Pets and pro wrestlers, but they still are acting with a straight face in plots that almost are switched around between characters depending on which film it is.

I'm now wondering if they are actually thinking of leading to the Secret Invasion storyline, which could really alienate fans if it's revealed that characters we've followed for years are Skree. The timeline is what I'm wondering about most because people freaked out big time with Homecoming because there were some inconsistencies in the timeline with the intro of Spider-Man in the MCU. The one thing I hope they don't do is call SHIELD SHIELD rather than Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division, because that might be the canon-breaking error that could cause nerd WWIII.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LiK2fhOY0nE As a huge fan of the book, I cannot wait for this movie. From what I can tell it looks like it will succeed where the Ender's Game adaptation failed by capturing the spirit of the source material. I loved the version of "Pure Imagination" as it fits the tone of the book perfectly although I'm wondering how the hell Warner Bros. got the rights to use the various characters/things shown in the trailer like Freddy Kreuger, the Delorian from Back to the Future, and others. Also, if you guys missed the leaked trailer for Avengers Infinity War, it was glorious, and surprisingly heavy on the Guardians of the Galaxy. I'm also wondering how this is all going to play into the fact that it's been revealed that Captain Marvel is a prequel to Iron Man and will chronologically be the first film in the MCU. Which makes me wonder where she's been this whole time in the MCU.

For me it worked great watching with friends the first time because we were able to rewind and soak every part of it in while making our own comments. I've been trying to the last couple years to get to a monthly screening that's in San Francisco but my scheduled hasn't allowed for it, but believe me it's on the bucket list.

2 appearances: Paul Bartel - Escape From LA, Chopping Mall
-
With how that teaser looks for Uprising, it would seem it's a prequel to the first film with John Boyega as a young Idris Elba, but it's a sequel that apparently about what to do with these warbots now that their main opponent is no longer around. I don't know why they went forward with this as the many of the main components that were likable about the first movie (Del Toro, Hunnam, Elba) are gone. At least Charlie Day is still in it.

So looking at the cast list there are a bunch of horror performers in this film and a couple with connections to other Roger Corman films. Kelli Maroney (Allison) starred in another horror movie with an 80s mall setting in Night of the Comet. Russell Todd (Rick/Silver Fox) was in the second Friday the 13th. Barbara Crampton (Suzie) is a scream queen who has starred in Re-Animator, You're Next, and We Are Still Here, among others. Mary Woronov (Mary Bland) was Calamity Jane in Death Race 2000. Dick Miller was the neighbor in the Gremlins movies and his character in this film, Walter Paisley, is the same name as his character in the Corman film A Bucket of Blood. Mel Welles (Cook) was in a couple different Corman flicks. Gerrit Graham (2nd security tech) was in Terrorvision. Angus Scrimm (Dr. Carrington) is the Tall Man in the Phantasm series. Also, how did no one point out the worst death of the entire movie that was even more avoidable than Suzie's kerosene can explosion, is Rick's who drives a golf cart into a robot and gets electrocuted. The cart was going at most 3 miles per hour and was only like ten feet away from the robot so he had negative chance to get any speed to ram the robot, the guy basically just zapped himself to death to basically just tip a robot over.
-
And the fact that this movie currently has a 92% on RT is making want this to come out even more.
-
Kinda bummed that I have to wait until the end of the year to see it as A24 is looking at an award season release in the hopes of pumping up the chance of Franco getting a Best Actor nomination for the Oscars. If that happens, please dear god have Franco bring Tommy up on stage with him. so that he can make an Oscar speech and break the final seal in order to unleash the apocalypse.
-
Well if you look at the synopsis of those three and the people involved, they appear to be ultimate Oscar bait. Unfortunately of them were all terrible pieces of shit.

I just started watching this on Amazon and could not believe that rather than have a male actor play the hitman before the operation, they horribly glue on the worst fake beard and mustache on Michelle Rodriguez's face and have her speak in a slightly lower tone of voice. Then to further push the point of the character being male they give a full frontal shot of pasted on chest hair, CGI porn star dick, before having her turn around showing Rodriguez's ass. It's like they forgot to change her whole body's appearance so you have front as computer generated male while the back is Rodriguez's own body. On top of that Walter Hill admitted that he was trying to make a sleazy, modern-day exploitation film, but this just comes off as absurd and flat.

It's because JCVD doesn't respect the sanctity of a person's name on their lunchbag in the office fridge.
