Out of the slate of Netflix's new shows, I might be the most excited by this one, though it looks to be playing very loose with the history of the promotion.
  2. I have to wonder what the studio was thinking in giving this movie almost a 200 million dollar budget, especially when the last time Guy Ritchie had a budget near that size with the second Sherlock Holmes film, it had an established lead actor, a successful prior film in the series, and was released at a less crowded time for films in December. By releasing this a week after Guardians 2 came out and a week before the next Aliens movie comes out, this thing was destined to fail. Add to the fact that they were planning on this being a six film series is more mind boggling for giving this such a huge budget, with one review I read saying that it realistically should have had a budget of 60-80 million so it had a better chance of proving if a series could work and if it couldn't then it would be a smaller hit to the studio, which now looks to lose around 150 million with this Hindenburg of a box office bomb.
  3. Explanation: Okay I think I have an explanation for Lovitz saying he smells like fish. It to me seems like they are trying to sneak a hacky adult joke into a kids movie with the stereotypical joke of lady parts smelling like fish, and with Lovitz appearing to be this uber ladies man, the joke is he is just up to his eyeballs in poon. Not saying it's a good joke, but it's the only explanation that I can come up with for the fish joke. Put'er in a brahr!
  4. I will start this by saying that I loved the original Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers as a kid when it premiered when I was in kindergarten (which makes me feel really old) and this movie seems to not understand anything about the show. This wasn’t a Breakfast Club scenario where a group of random kids come across an alien entity, they were already friends which made their dynamic and relationships work better as a team. The teens were also either already martial artists of some manner or were athetic (I think Kimmy was a gymnast if I remember correctly), so they were able to properly battle the enemies that they came across. This idea that they are now getting superpowers or heightened abilities because they found the coins is ridiculous, where they are bending metal by just gripping it, breaking furniture with light punches, being able to scale the side of almost 90 degree inclines of a mountain, or apparently breathing underwater as shown in the first trailer is just screaming of a Bay-off. Add to the the hackey “I’m black” “No you’re not” joke already gives me real cause for concern as to what this movie is going to be like. The only positives I got from this trailer were Banks and Cranston who look like they are trying their best with what they have been given, but that’s not enough for me to want to see this in theaters. Unfortunately I think this will do really well at the box office due to nostalgia, unless further trailers get worse, but this should definitely be covered by the show because it looks awful.

    Power Rangers (2017)

I have to bump this thread because this movie is perfect for the show, also because the porn parody that has come out since then has done a better representation of the original series than this hunk of shit, and had better production value.

Before wikipedia became a thing there were two concordances that were released by Robin Furth that were basically the guide to EVERYTHING in the series along with a lot of the connections to King's other works. The books not only went over characters, places, and important events that were barely mentioned in the books, but also terms and language were broken down so the reader could understand Roland's high language from his kingdom. There has been a new companion that was released a few years ago that I'm sure goes into a bit more detail on things, but they definitely help understand the thick text. I will say that after the third book, the series becomes an ubermeta mindfuck that amazingly works incredibly well. King for his part kept it pretty straightforward and actually creates and ending that to this day for me still stands as one of the best endings I've ever read, which is an especially great thing for King as endings have always kind of been his weakness. He does a good job of also creating the connecting tissue between this and his other stories so the reader isn't completely lost when new characters are introduced from other worlds, which is helpful as there are about two dozen King books/stories that are connected to the Dark Tower series.

It won't be based on the book, they are calling this movie a sequel to the series. So you don't have to read the series, which is fantastic by the way, in order to understand this film.

    Biker Boyz (2003)

All I remember about this movie was that it was unshockingly revealed that Laurence Fishburne was the main character's actual dad. Then in their final race when the son gets "in the zone" as he has been trying to do all movie he is STILL going to lose to Fishburne, until Fishburne lets up on the throttle and lets his kid beat him, without the kid knowing, so that now lesson at all is learned.

I saw Haysbert and the first thing I thought was "aren't he and Idris the same age?" Then I look it up and that dude is 62 years old and actually the perfect age to play Idris' dad as he is 18 years younger, the age I would expect a young king/prince to start trying to have heirs. I absolutely love that they show how Roland loads his guns in the trailer, because there is a vaugeness to it in the books where it basically just says that he loads them faster than eyes can contemplate. I also love that the studio basically made a "have a cake and eat it too" scenario by stating that this movie is a sequel to the book series. So the fans of the book can get new material while not being too made that it doesn't follow the source material to a tee and new viewers see a new tale without having to know any of the source material.

Episode 161 - The Fate of the Furious

Well I kinda am now that I had emergency surgery to get the infected abscess drained and cleaned out, easily the next most painful moment of my life second to slipping four discs in my lower spine, now all that's left is bed rest. Though at this point of my Parks and Rec binge, I wish there was more than one episode featuring Tynnyfer.

Episode 161 - The Fate of the Furious

Question: I don't think anyone addressed this but why was Brian listed as #7 on the Interpol list? He had nothing to do with the EMP heist so far as we saw. So was he doing a "one more job" kinda deal and escape another way while the rest of them went down wrecking ball alley, or was Interpol being dickish and said "eh, he rolled with them for a while so give him an arbitrary ranking?"

    The Circle (2017)

I'm amazed that this has gotten the reviews that it had. With the people involved I at least thought that they would try to make a decent film based on an okay book. It's really saying something when the audience Cinemascore. which is usually even still a low B-A for a terribly reviewed film, was a D+.

Wow he is 3/4 the way to Stallone melted action figure body. And that face is the one a person has when they realized there was a bit extra weight to that fart and the bathroom is across the house. Also Tyrese, Ludacris, and Michelle Rodriguez all still look really good 16 years later.

No, definitely should have been Car-y McVroomface sponsored by Corona and NOS.

Episode 161 - The Fate of the Furious

Yeah figured it was the flashback with the crisper colors and the fact that there were more than three colors in the panel, I just couldn't remember if there was one that showed more because if DC has shown anything over the last few years, the Flash will run back in time and fuck shit up leading to a two page showing various universes and major scenes of DC history flashed in front of a major characters eyes. Or if it's Marvel a similar thing will happen, but instead of flashbacks, alternate realities will be shown, usually involving Deadpool. Am I right nerds, or what?

Episode 161 - The Fate of the Furious

Hey I only got to comment so much because I'm home sick with food poisoning AND a skin infection. It's also allowed me to finally start binging Parks & Rec (I'm almost through season 4).

Episode 161 - The Fate of the Furious

I thought they did show more in the comics, or maybe that was years later in flashback form. This is the only other version I could find.
