    Episode 156.5 - Minisode 156.5

He's had that thing going since before they did TMNT 2 on the show as best I can remember, I didn't know Go Fund Me's could run years in length.

They do that "did you mean this" suggestion as a way to say "we might not have this movie right now but these are kinda similar to it." I also just stopped rating the movies and just let what I watch create suggestions, because the rating system works off and on depending if Netflix wants to play ball with me. From what I read of it, it doesn't even have the decent production style that the director's last film had, which he styled after Michael Moore's technique, which was the only real saving grace of that film. This one also has a more re-enactment style which makes it all the more hokey. His Obama film has a 25% on RT while Hillary is a 4% so it's like comparing getting shot in the foot to shot in the head in terms of subject quality.

    Episode 156.5 - Minisode 156.5

I watched this this morning on Youtube and was surprised that the only versions were made like they were filmed from a person aiming a camera at a tube TV. Oddly there were more versions of the movie that was only 66 minutes while the one I watched was 99 which still isn't even the full length not including credits. I can also say that this is probably the most 90s movie ever outside of Airborne with the constant use of the Game Gear and the fact that the ninja clan can cut down basically a small forest to make surf boards in about 20 minutes.

  7. Yeah McAvoy was amazing in this, especially during the scene where he's one personality acting as another in order to trick his therapist.
  8. Watching Split reminded me that M. Night could be a good director like he used to be. After Unbreakable, he became so attached to the twist trope, water metaphors, and putting himself in his movies in increasingly larger roles (really, he's the savior of mankind in Lady In the Water?), but after watching this it seems like he remember what made his first two movies good. I'm hoping he doesn't fall back to his old habits, but I wouldn't be surprised.
  9. I definitely need to watch Lego Batman again because it was crammed with so many references to the entirety of Batman canon that I know I missed stuff. The only unfortunate thing I felt the movie was missing was more time for the villains, because they decided to use all the major ones along with real Z-level one-off characters like the Condiment King. So you miss out on Garfunkel & Oates as Poison Ivy and Clayface, respectively, as well as Billy Dee Williams as Two-Face and Conan O'Brien as the Riddler. They could have easily added 15 minutes to the film and the flow still would have been perfect, even for the theater full of kids that I saw it with who were amped up on what I assume was sugar and meth with how they were bouncing off the walls.
  10. What was odd to me is that they didn't have Fiennes play Voldemort. Also do you think Graham Elwood is bummed that Doug Benson got chosen to play Bane instead of him?
  11. I remember reading that the Wachowskis wanted to play up the mysteriousness of Neo and allow Keanu to play up his strengths by only him speak five words at a time at most. Then they did the sequels and tried to expand on their psuedo-babble and it went downhill from it.

    Mazes and Monsters (1982)

Dark Places at least pointed out the Satanic angle was a fallback cause to blame a killed for what happened, until the ending said that it wasn't the case. Regression was a bullshit movie anyway and its ending just added to the confusion.
  13. Keanu gets a bad rap for being wooden, which he is, but if he's put in the right role he's AMAZING. While he can give laughably bad performances in films like Dracula or Devil's Advocate, any role where he gets a chance to be a grizzled, no-nonsense action star he excels, like in Speed, Street Kings, the Wick films, and the first Matrix.

    Starship Troopers (1997)

I was always confused by why Neil Patrick Harris all of a sudden looks deathly ill once he's made the head of Science or whatever the fuck he is. For a minute I thought he was under control of the Bugs like other soldiers were shown to be.

    Mazes and Monsters (1982)

What's funny is that in the last couple years there have been a few movies released based on the Satanic Scare of the 80s like Dark Places and Regression, and all of them are ridiculous.
  16. To be fair though those two dudes were getting the better of Reeves, which is why he quickly resorted to shooting the knees of the Russian Batista and moving away from the Asian guy until he could get hold of a weapon to basically empty an entire clip into the guy. And I'm a horrible judge of anything body related (size/weight/age) so I'm actually surprised Ruby weighs anything over 110 and Palicki is lighter. Yet by just eye balling the two from their respective roles it looked like Palicki could handle herself hand to hand. I myself would have actually preferred a gunfight between Ruby and Reeves as body type is then completely taken out of the equation and both are on an even playing field. Plus with the hall of mirrors was a great environment for them to fight in rather than Reeves killing the manbun posse.
  17. I get why they did it in Wick with Ruby in that they go for more realism in the fights and Ruby looks like she weighs 105 pounds soaking wet and so it made sense for a bigger stronger opponent to tear through her, unlike if they had someone like a Ronda Rousey, who has shown how she holds her own against male opponents in sparring and exhibitions. If they had shown her dispatching someone prior to the fight it could have worked a bit better. The violinist fight worked in that she got the drop on Wick and surprised him, even hitting him with a shot, so he faltered at first before using his size. The fight with Adrianne Palicki in John Wick 1 was more back and forth because Palicki has a more athletic build and used that to her advantage.
  18. Yeah this one basically rehashed a few key scenes from the first one. Vin Diesel is able to break down how he knows how Sam Jackson created a fake armed robbery in a small diner where he points how out a waitress wouldn't wear heels because Diesels mom was a nurse or some such shit and even fires the robber's gun revealing he somehow knew it had blanks in it. Then later in the movie Diesel is launched out of the back of a plane in the same way he launched the soldiers out in this one. It's almost like they realized that these movies weren't very memorable to begin with so they rehashed scenes to make it seem original for new viewers while allowing them to be shitty homages for people who watched the other movies.
  19. After re-listening to the bit where Diesel hits on the interviewer I can say the only way that would have been more uncomfortable to listen to was if Vin Diesel was loudly jacking it similar to Jonah Hill in Wolf of Wall Street. As for the seemingly eventual crossover between this series and the Fast and Furious, Vin Diesel's ego knows no bounds as he was recently quoted saying that he feels people are clamoring for a Groot solo movie, which only means he would eventually want that character to crossover into this series as well and set up the eventual Vin Diesel ego orgy that also somehow includes Riddick.
  20. Correction: The whole way Xander was killed off in the first sequel that Paul was describing was a deleted scene. In it, he wasn't being hunted or anything, but he just gets out of his car leaving some random chick as he goes into a shady looking building which I'm assuming is just another place where Xander is living in some extreme sport squatting den, and once he's inside the top couple floors blow up, this is followed by the patch of neck skin that had the XXX tattoo on it fluttering to the ground while still slightly burning. In the actual movie one of the agents is talking to an underling who has reported on the assassinations of various XXX agents, and they off handedly mention that Xander was killed in some far off island getaway, and that's it. Now I myself have not seen this hunk of Monster Energy drinking bullshit, but one thing I remember from the trailer was seeing Ruby Rose make a shot from some suped up bungee ring while hanging from a tree. That just made me mad in breaking it down, because as soon as the shot goes off from within a dark environment, the flash would give her location away to any guards looking for her, not to mention if there wasn't a suppressant on the rifle. So the last thing that she would want it so be wrapped up in a cumbersome hanging rig while people are actively looking for you and shooting.
  21. Saw this trailer before the new Start Trek and this movie might as well be called "fuck you, physics." I'm amazed that the XXX series hasn't been done by the show yet as they do what has been done in the last few Fast & Furious movies in regards to mind-boggling stunts, but this series does them so hammy and bad. And my eyes about fell out of my head from rolling them so hard when I heard the line about saving the world and "looking as dope as possible doing it." Fuck everything about this movie. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Stb7iIn1CDA

Same thing seemed to happen to my account, which I had linked through my Facebook account. I tried contacting Earwolf about it but never heard back and just lucked into getting logged back in by doing the regular Earwolf login using my screen name on the forum.

Those last two look really good and with companies like Magnet and A24 releasing them I have high hopes due to both of their track records releasing quality horror. It Comes At Night caught my eye in particular in that it resembles the recent Resident Evil game in that it focuses not on hordes of zombies, but rather a smaller number of villains which are a lot more deadly. The entire experience of being alone in a house where you know something fucked up is going on and you are basically helpless to stop it or get out in one piece makes for a truly visceral experience, which the film looks to be offering as well.

He had to be pretty drunk for that, because the pay episode that featured Amy Schumer and Anthony Jeselnik was pretty bad as they were just SLOSHED beyond approach. The first half of the episode basically was just them drunkenly shouting at the crowd and randomly swearing.

    Episode 155 - Airborne: LIVE!

That's bringing back bad memories of that old HBO show Cathouse where the pilot episode had a mom taking her son to the Moonlite Bunny Ranch to lose his virginity, and she was in the room at least talking over the price with the worker and what that would get her son. Wonder if she was kinda inspired by this movie.
