    Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007)

Yeah I got the omnibus for the Fire and Stone series and the sub-series were put in proper reading order which really helped. Though it did give me flashbacks of the 90s when there was a crossover event where you had to get a special chart from the publisher to show you which issues to read in which order.

    Episode 148 - Vampire's Kiss: LIVE!

Concerning the mimes and "I'm a vampire" rant, I read the best description of of why worked in the IMDB FAQ which was basically what Jason said in that New Yorkers are used to crazy people running around at all hours and are just used to it, which makes me think that this movie could have been set in either LA or San Francisco as well because of the various characters running around those cities. It also reminds me of a horrible fucking horror movie I watched last year called Crazy Murder, which was a mix of a look at the homeless situation in New York along with a bad slasher flick. In it a homeless man just starts running around the city and brutally killing random people, eventually making a "murder superhero" suit for himself which was basically electrical tape and blades, and running around the city. The funniest part of it was as this guy is running around, non-actors are clearly walking around as well and are not concerned in the least about this guy running around with knives all over his body. As for the accent, I hadn't thought about a literary take on the accent, but thinking back to the few library conferences that I've been to, it clearly matches up with the pretentiousness of those people, so that checks out for me.

Hey Windows XP was great, I'd be more worried if he was using Vista or 8.

    Episode 147.5 - Minisode 147.5

There were points where there was a bit of olde English in it, though he would then morph to the accent that he used in Gone in 60 Seconds when he was posing as a potential buyer of sports cars.

    Episode 147.5 - Minisode 147.5

Okay the conclusion that I have come to is that because the vampirism is psychosomatic for Cage, he is talking in a way that he thinks a vampire from Europe would talk. He was already using it a bit as part of his Ebeneezer Scrooge that he was doing towards Alva, so he just seems to have taken it to the next level.

    Episode 147.5 - Minisode 147.5

Working in a library for almost 13 years, I have seen firsthand how far people will go to read a book before the movie comes out. Da Vinci Code was a huge book to begin with and we could barely keep a copy on the shelves, but when the movie was coming out we had a hold list a dozen people long for the book, same thing for the Twilight series and Gone Girl. I think it's just a matter of people being able to say "the book was better" if the movie isn't up to their expectations. The adaptations that I've seen are hit or miss in comparison to the books, but it's nothing that will completely ruin the viewing experience for me, unless it's really egregious like The Great Gatsby or The Scarlet Letter. As for this movie, is it ever explained why Cage has an accent?

I put a thread up in the Bad Movie Recommendation about this when I saw the teaser and heard the line about saving the world and looking as dope as possible while doing. This movie looks like ass.

    Episode 147 - Gamer: LIVE!

Stick with Nightmare because after Halloween 3 when Michael Myers returns, it gets really ridiculous. While Nightmare gets pretty out there near the end of the series, New Nightmare is a fantastic meta movie and the franchise is one of the few in horror that never went with a message movie, or one that was set in space or da hood. And if you ever get a chance to meet Roberty Englund at a convention or signing, do it, I can't recommend meeting him enough because he legitimately enjoys meeting his fans unlike other celebrities *cough* Malcolm McDowell *cough*. I was really surprised by The Invitation with how well it kept me wondering which way the story was going to play out up until the last 20 minutes. The way that it could have been either a character seeing things that really weren't there or they were true was incredible, and that final scene was fantastic. Another great semi-horror movie to see is The Perfect Host starring David Hyde Pierce who plays a sinister homeowner who turns the tables on a home invader and then has the guy attend the "party" he is holding that night at his home. It was great seeing Pierce play something so different than what he did all of the years prior.

The Nightmare series has the same issue that all major horror series have after a few movies in that they start to lose steam and then add gimmicks to try and revitalize the franchise. I do love that all of the kills in the series are original and pretty good and Robert Englund was made for that role, and also happens to be one of the nicest people I've had the fortune to meet in my life. Also if you have the time and are interested, watch Never Sleep Again which is a documentary covering the entire Nightmare series including the TV show and its overall impact on pop culture, though it is long at 6 hours. Creep is an interesting movie in that it's only 75 minutes long but feels like its 2 hrs because of the sense of unease and dread it creates in the viewer. Mark Duplass is amazing in it and I'm interested to see where they take it in the sequel. Other horror movies that I'd recommend after watching 123 in the last month, seriously: Curse of Chucky The Invitation Ritual Cub He Never Died Come Out and Play

    Episode 147 - Gamer: LIVE!

The only other episode where I really threw around my info on my job was during the Tango & Cash episode where the hosts questioned the decorating abilities of inmates and the fact that they were being called to work, both of which are very true things in most prisons.

    Episode 147 - Gamer: LIVE!

Okay time to flash my personal experience/knowledge with the subject. As a librarian in a prison in California, I can tell you that the fluctuation for getting off death row or having your sentence reduced/pardoned is a rare instance as many of the inmates are doing the filings themselves and write as if you or I would write a text message. There are things like the Innocence Project that offers pro bono assistance for inmates, unfortunately the inmate basically has to do ALL the legwork on research for their case before the Project decides if the case is winnable, and thus worth their time. The other issue are countless frivolous lawsuits being filed on what seems like a daily basis which in turn slows the system down in getting legitimate filings in front of a judge. As for California having the most death row inmates there are quite a few reasons for such a thing to happen, also realize that all of those inmates are stored in a single prison in the state, San Quentin. Some inmates may not have been tried in California but moved to that prison for health reasons, like being susceptible to Valley Fever or various other illnesses that can make living in certain prisons a civil right issue. Other issues can be inmate safety if their current location is too volatile to live in, such as if the inmate is particularly famous or there is a personal connection to the area where there is a conflict of interest, like if the convict had killed a CO in a facility or family member of someone working in the prison. When I started my job I had to fill out a form stating if I knew an inmate in the facility, to the best of my knowledge, and if I did that inmate would have been transferred to another facility. With celebrity inmates, there is a chance of other inmates trying to kill that person in order to either get revenge for a wrong in the criminal hierarchy, like if the target was a molester or child killer, or if killing said celeb convict would increase one's street cred inside the facility, sort of like what happened when Jeffrey Dahmer was killed in prison. With guys like Charles Manson and Scott Peterson, they fall under both categories as celebrities and as such are basically never let out of their cells, though they remain in California for a variety of reasons. Another issue where inmates would be sent to another facility's death row would be overcrowding, which is very common and there are transports almost a few times each week at my prison. Hopefully this sheds some light on that situation.

    Episode 147 - Gamer: LIVE!

Given that there is just shy of 3,000 death row inmates in the US right now, and that maybe 25% of them are probably not in physical parameters to play in the game due to either age and physical or mental ability, I can see that being an issue. Yet the movie had like a Demolition Man-esque look at the near future where shit goes HORRIBLY wrong and the prisons are overflowing with inmates in that rung, it would be more feasible to accomplish the goal of running a show where people fight to the death, this isn't taking into fact that Dexter might be getting inmates from around the world as well with back end deals with foreign governments. Also side note, for fans of the show, Funko has announced a new line of POP figures based on Stranger Things! http://www.ew.com/article/2016/10/31/stranger-things-funko-pop-photos

    Episode 147 - Gamer: LIVE!

It's about a 50/50 control between Kable and Percy at the start of the movie, as Kable is still able to talk and look around with his eyes, unlike other Slayers which are shown to be under less control. Yet when Kable is let completely loose, he isn't as great as he thought he was, although he is drunk during that match. As for the final fight, Dexter is controlling Kable during the start of their fight after he blew the nanite dust into his face, so he would have an easy fight to show for the audience, similar to how Joaquin Phoenix stabbed Russell Crowe before they entered the arena in Gladiator. So Percy jumping in to aid Kable worked at first, but Kable had to use Dexter's mind against himself by suggesting he think about Kable stabbing him, which Dexter unintentionally did, leading to his death.

Are we sure that's not his twin? It was sort of brought up in the talks between Sedgwick and Hall about the ramifications of doing this for criminals. I can't remember for sure but I want to say the guys were already on death row/lifers so there was no real chance of them getting out otherwise. A guy who commits a lesser crime like manslaughter, assault, etc., either has a parole date or strong chance of appeal, hence why they are offered the chance to be an NPC and try to survive one match. Plus, Hall's character has no intentions of letting the Slayers leave the game alive, and rigs it in various ways to achieve that. The public gets to feel like these guys are getting a shot at a second chance while at the same time seeing them fight to the death, which is what Hall wants as it generates huge ratings and profit. It's similar to The Running Man which had three "winners" that Richard Dawson kept promoting, when in actuality they had been killed and stuff in an abandoned area of the game zone. They do that as well when they show the pictures of the kid signing autographs and going to some type of party/premier, it's also why everyone is trying to buy the rights of Kable off him so as they can get some of the fame he's gotten. Then when Kable escapes, his reputation is ruined as he is labeled a cheater by the show.

I was thinking Mark Whalberg from Daddy's Home, as Paul was in that and it would make sense that Whalberg would freak out about having to be in shape on short notice. Since this is a satire of video games, NPCs are easy kills which douchey game players would happily kill. Also with the celebrity status players achieve, I assume they want to increase their visibility by getting great looking kills against no matter who, that the viewers would want to see. As for the other two Pottermore quizzes, I was placed in Wampus for Ilvermorny and my wand is laurel wood, 11 1/4", with unicorn hair and a slightly springy flexibility.

    Episode 147 - Gamer: LIVE!

Slytherin with a Hippogriff patronus. I gotta say that they did a great job with the Pottermore quizzes as they aren't like other "what x are you?" quizzes in that it doesn't offer options that lead you to your desired choice. Like if you did a Walking Dead character quiz, the options would mostly give you huge clues about which character you were choosing, while Pottermore used random words to generate your results, though the Sorting Hat quiz was color coated, you could still have a mix of answers before getting sorted.

    Episode 147 - Gamer: LIVE!

In regards to the invisible wall situation, there sort of was one in that there were barricades along with plow trucks and missles meant to stop anyone from breaking out, which is what some games have done as a fun way to not use the trope of invisible barriers. Up until recently, the GTA games would make your wanted level the maximum if you went to an area that you weren't supposed to while other games basically have you killed out of nowhere. As for how the players controlled the avatars, I would assume it's a Kinect like system with how some of the characters where motioning, but there is an issue that is mentioned in the movie called the ping where there is a slight delay from player to character, which has at times led to a character getting killed, so the player works out what amounts to controller sensitivity when it comes to how much control they have over the avatar, hence why Terry Crewes having "no strings" made him even more dangerous and unpredictable.

    Episode 147 - Gamer: LIVE!

I was coming from the idea that sushi is basically its own grouping of food that people specifically go out to eat, while Japanese encompasses everything else under Japanese cuisine. You could say "hey you want tacos" instead of "Mexican" but the other person might want something else. By using sushi instead of Japanese, you're asking a person wants a very specific grouping, because sushi is one of those foods that really can be its own grouping as if its own country, sort of like asking for BBQ. Again this is just my interpretation of how I think when trying to figure out what someone else wants to eat.

    Episode 147 - Gamer: LIVE!

I kinda get why they would be specific by saying sushi as when someone asks if I want Japanese I think of tonkatsu or panko chicken or various other food items, yet when someone says sushi I know they want sushi. Maybe it's just me but that's how I broke it down.

    Episode 147 - Gamer: LIVE!

As far as Butler not joining in on the dance, I too was mad that he didn't because he has quite a few moves in his dance arsenal: Also, when we first really see Sedgwick during the cunt hair discussion, the topic of lunch is brought up between her and the other reporter and I for sure thought the choices they were choosing between were Iranian sushi or Mexican. I had to ask myself what the fuck that first choice could possibly be and if that was the closest thing they got to "future food," yet when I looked up the script to see if it was Iranian or Iraqi before I typed this comment, I saw that there was meant to be a pause between the food options "Iranian, sushi, or Mexican," but the actor didn't take the pause. I'm honestly surprised none of the hosts or guests caught that with how much of a focus food and eating are on the show.

    Episode 147 - Gamer: LIVE!

As far as Pottermore is concerned I too was placed in Slytherin but my patronus was a Hippogriff. In regards to this movie I loved it as it was a mix of Crank with video games, though it should not have taken itself too seriously. Correction The npcs convicts were not being controlled by anyone in Slayers, they were running on a preset program which made them easy targets for players, hence why it only took suriving one match to get your freedom. Questions When Butler is shown the video of the raid on the Humanz you see Mae Whitman getting gunned down, but at the end she is driving Kyra Sedgwick around on a motorcycle. Was this an error or was there some other chick with dreads that I missed in their clubhouse? Second question is about Sedgwick at the end when she's dropping evidence off, I could have sworn she now had dreads as well so did she get into character like she did when she was hiding in Society? Final question is about Society and the rish involved, is there some sort of stop switch from a person going on a GTA rampage because they are driving cars in that area so it is reasonable to assume a person can just have their avatar plow down dozens of people.

    Episode 146.5 - Minisode 146.5

I watched #Horror earlier this year when it didn't have a lot of Netflix reviews and good lord what a piece of shit. I liked the idea of making a horror movie with kid actors in place of what would usually be teen characters or adults, but absolutely none of them were likeable, I'd have blown up the house and just said better luck next time. I get that it's the director's attempt to make a movie about cyberbullying, but when there are better movies in this genre and others that do a better job and when they have at least one character that you are rooting for, you really just end up mad at yourself for watching it by the finale of the film.

    Episode 146.5 - Minisode 146.5

The Friday the 13th series is always a must for my month-long horror marathon, and usually Alien and Aliens. I also try and squeeze in The Thing and Evil Dead when I'm not trying new horror movies. Here's what I've seen so far this month, which has also really boosted my DLM challenge numbers. Bunni, We Are Still Here, Baskin, 31, Howling 3: the Marsupials, 13 Cameras, Most Likely to Die, 2001 Maniacs, Howling 4, Death Do Us Part, Saw, Saw 2, Last Shift, The Girl In the Photographs, Saw 3, Black Death, Howling 5, Blackwater, All the Boys Love Mandy Lane, He Never Died, The Butchers, The Horde, Stitches, The Hills Have Eyes, Southbound, Terrortory, Saw 4, Saw 5, Collapse, Dead End Drive-In, Class of Nuke Em High, The Conjuring 2, Clown, Sightseers, Return to Horror High, Evilspeak, Saw 6, House, House 2, Jack Brooks Monster Slayer, Saw 7, Discopath, 2000 Maniacs, Demons, Demons 2, Prom Ride, Tourist Trap, Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, Blood Car, Pieces, Kill List, Blood Sand, Come Out and Play, Hellions, Saint, Night of the Demons, Jack Frost, Ichi the Killer, Billy Club, Chillerama, Monster Brawl, Friday the 13th, Friday the 13th part 2, Friday the 13th part 3, Friday the 13th part 4: the Final Chapter, Friday the 13th part 5: A New Beginning, Friday the 13th part 6: Jason Lives, Friday the 13th part 7: New Blood, Alien, Friday the 13th part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan, Shock 'Em Dead, Re-Kill, Jason Goes to Hell: the Final Friday, Jason X, Death Spa, WNUF Halloween Special, Anamorph, Cub, Hide the Monster, The Frankenstein Theory, Jack Frost 2, American Psycho, Wishmaster, A Horrible Way to Die, Run,Hide,Die, Wishmaster 2, Sleepaway Camp, Sleepaway Camp 2, Sleepaway Camp 3, and Misery. Out of the new movies I saw this October, Cub and WNUF Halloween Special are pretty interesting and original films. Cub is a Belgian movie about a Boy Scout troop who during a camping trip come across a feral child and his psycho father. It's more interesting in that the movie was given the equivalent of a G rating by the Belgian film board but featured some horrifying moments like a tent full of children being run over by a truck, a dog being beaten in a burlap sack, and gruesome murders of close to a dozen people. The WNUF Halloween Special was an indie horror movie done a couple years back in the vein of a newscast from the 80s, complete with cheesy commercials and Halloween safety tips from a local cop. The only issue was it took a little too long to get to the actual horror element of the movie, which was the "man on the street" reporter going through an abandoned house similar to the Amityville house.

    Episode 75 — Daredevil

I ended up loving it way more than I thought I would because it goes the John Wick route of being serious and realistic in an crazy world where a guy like the Accountant can exist. I was surprised by how little was actually revealed in the trailers and how they started to reveal who the Accountant truly was was fantastic. Add to that a great supporting cast and it made for a great viewing experience.

    Pieces (1982)

It's on Amazon through the Shudder Channel and it's insane. It's the perfect mix of crazy "normal" moments and then over-the-top gore and violence. The opening scene alone would make this great for the show.
