    Suicide Squad (2016)

That's how it is in comics as well, Amadeus Cho and Tony Stark both graduated from their respective colleges at around 15 and the same for the new girl who is becoming Iron Man, though I think she's just a freshman at MIT at 15. I believe the only comic scientists who were actually normal age when they became doctors/scientists were Bruce Banner, Hank Pym, and then the various villains in Batman's Rogue gallery.

    Episode 142.5 - Minisode 142.5

I'd put Gamer and Law Abiding Citizen in the Crank category of crazy good, while The Ugly Truth and P.S. I Love You are just flat out bad.

I'm actually surprised that this is the first Gerard Butler movie on the show, would have thought The Bounty Hunter, Reign of Fire, or Lara Croft 2 would have been talked about before this one.

    Episode 142.5 - Minisode 142.5

I think a lot of the problem with the many changes to late night shows was that there were a bunch of changes all in a row in quick succession. Remember, when Carson retired he had been in that spot for decades and there were only two real options to succeed him, which was still kind of chaotic as both Leno and Letterman were vying for the job as Letterman was in a huge contract battle with the network in an attempt to get the spot while Leno's manager was doing the same for him, watch The HBO movie the Late Shift which was based on the book of the same name as it gives great insight into how that whole ordeal played out. Then six years ago you have Leno "leaving" the Tonight Show and having Conan take his spot, only for Leno to take it back later and Conan ends up on TBS, while Letterman and Kimmel are both fighting for second. Now in the last two years you have had not only the main late night guys leave but also the late-late guys moving around too, meaning a lot more shuffling parts. Fallon lucked out as he had quite a bit of time for himself to establish his foothold as a likeable host and interviewer. Then you have Craig Ferguson leave and replaced by James Corden, Seth Myers replacing Fallon on Late Night, Jon Stewart retiring, Colbert replacing Letterman, Noah replacing Stewart, and Wilmore replacing Colbert. All of it happened so fast that no one has had the chance to establish themselves in a meaningful way. Hell Colbert is having a real tough time establishing himself and his ratings are showing it, the numerous vacations aren't helping him either. With social media and how ratings are compiled, networks are wanting that instant response to a new product, which makes it all that much harder to establish yourself to an audience.

Haven't watched Gods of Egypt yet, but instead of swearing goddammit do they scream "me damn it?"

    Episode 142.5 - Minisode 142.5

While the effects don't really hold up and much of the acting is absurd, Brandon Lee and Ernie Hudson' still give decent performances despite the source material being kind of a goth kid's uber fantasy. What's worse is that on the DVD they interview James O'Barr who created the comic and since it was the 90s the fashion really doesn't age well at all and he comes off looking like a guy who would be on To Catch a Predator. Even worse is that they are talking of doing a remake to the film, which really doesn't make too much since as it was a cult film even when it came out, and they are having Jack Huston play the lead, which just makes me feel bad for him as I loved him on Boardwalk Empire and now it seems like he's just getting put into bad remake after bad remake, as the new Ben-Hur looks atrocious.

    Hard Ticket to Hawaii (1987)

They could easily do a run on the first 4-5 movies in by Sidaris in the same way that they did a string of Cannon films. What's great is that basically all of the series outside of the really softcore ones, have been posted in their entirety by one dude on Youtube.

    Pompeii (2014)

What I found funny about this movie was that unlike Titanic, where the leads could have reasonably survived the ordeal, there was no way that the romantic leads of this movie were going to get a happily ever after in this situation.
  10. Now before people freak out about this recommendation, I am doing it in that it is FUCKING AMAZING AND CRAZY a la Crank: High Voltage and Punisher: Warzone. It has been a while since I've seen a comic book movie live up to the hype before it and be such a fulfilling movie experience. Ryan Reynolds and Morena Baccarin are fantastic as the leads and you could tell that they fully embraced their roles and made the movie that much more fun. With Paul's past of writing the bi-annual for Deadpool and Jason's love of comics, I would love for them to discuss this movie and to hear June's thoughts on such an off the wall character.

    Suicide Squad (2016)

Yeah but that's a common thing in the series. The first volume they basically kill an entire stadium of football fans in the Superdome who were infected with a techno-virus that turned them into cannibals, and then with one of Waller's side deals Deadshot kills a member of the team in order for the whole incident to be blamed on him, rather than the Squad or a virus that the world doesn't know exists.
  12. The only problem now is that they are doing Cage, Iron Fist, and Defenders, we have to wait 18 months to 2 years for the next seasons of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and the premier season of Punisher.

I thought you were joking until I found a summary online. Who the fuck thought that was the proper message for a kids movie and that was the way to protray it?

    Suicide Squad (2016)

Yeah the eybrows were distracting for me. I have thick eyebrows myself, though not at her or Martin Scorsese's level, and I find hers to be almost distracting on her light skin. It didn't help when she was made to look even whiter but they remained the same. As for the almost assured sequel to this, I hope more time will be given to hash out the story and fix the issues with this, it's also what gives me hope for the Affleck Batman and Justice League movies as he has shown real control over the camera and can create a fleshed out story and world, enough so that WB is giving him some say in the script and final cut of the films. Also can we all agree that if you are in a cave with ancient relics, don't go twisting them hoping to see what's inside. That shit NEVER ends up being good for the person doing the opening.

    Suicide Squad (2016)

Not really, while there are shared mannerisms among the big three live action Jokers, they are more based around the comics of the time. Ledger's Joker was more based around the late 90s/early 2000s version of the character that was more psychotic, with no rhyme or reason behind his actions outside of taking it to Batman. Leto's Joker is based more on the New 52 versions of the Joker as well as the version from Brian Azzarello's graphic novel Joker. This one is more of a gangster who has a very public persona in the underworld and even to the general public of Gotham as a club owner/thug, he very much loves the power and lifestyle of being a criminal.
  16. Didn't mean to kill a joke I was just responding to what I thought was a straight comment/question. I just don't think that the Phantom gets around too much, I mean shit he paid the cabbie first in foreign money that was worthless and then countered it with gems that with a value in the thousands, would have caused that guy in the real world 20s to say fuck everyone and drive off with that cab into retirement.

    Nine Lives (2016)

What kind of dark twist could there have been? What, was he a cat the whole time and his human persona was the actual magical test?
  18. Wasn't that tribe kind of hidden and it was only the British colonials who were really interacting with people? At that point I think it's a matter of them not wanting to acknowledge his existence or that they condone his actions, like Jim Gordon did the first few years working with Batman.
  19. That might be because no one knew who the fuck the Phantom was in this world, as he really only fought injustice in his fictional island.
  20. I thought that too, because they really didn't establish time in this movie until Zane was introduced. Omission: As for Drax and the Skulls, I am going to say that this movie is officially a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as they owned the rights to the character from '87 to '02, so with Drax looking for the Skulls i.e. objects containing an Infinity Stone, that when he was blown up in the final battle along with the Skulls, he was transported to the future and became Drax the Destroyer. BAM, now all I need is Marvel to pay me for that.

    Killer Elite (2011)

This one was weird for me as they made it come off as the usual Statham action flick, but it ended up being more of an attempt at a political thriller with these various mercenary squads. It just fell flat on either end, but I can't remember there being too much craziness in this one.

    Tusk (2014)

If anything, the next movie in this trilogy should be considered as the trailers for Yoga Hosers looks like Smith finally discovered what it's like to direct a movie high on acid.

    Summer Movie League. Year 2?

Well now I know for certain to ignore the guy who posts the weekend estimate article because he has no clue what he's talking about.
  24. Like June had said about people not liking Grease 2 and realizing as a child that movies could be bad, this was the movie where I realized that. When I saw that basically the entire cast had been changed from the fairly decent one of the prior movie, and that they were just killing/adding characters willy nilly, I knew I was in for a bad experience and felt bad for my dad who I asked to bring to the theater to see that hunk of shit.
