    Dreamscape (1984)

Bumping this thread as there is an incredible amount of crazy in this movie along with a lot of terrible CGI. Psychic Dennis Quaid travels into people's dreams as part of a secret science program and it gets crazier from there. One dream he enters basically amounts to a guy catching his wife cheating on him with his brother, a group of 5-6 other guys who hide under the bed, a priest watching from the curtains, and all in front of the couples young kids, and this is played off as totally not fucking crazy. This needs to be done.

    Episode 140.5 - Minisode 140.5

I saw it opening day and just thought it was "meh." It wasn't terrible or fantastic, but it just wasn't clicking for me, kinda hard to explain. I thought Wiig and McCarthy were good, but felt McKinnon was there just to chew up scenery and I did laugh for Leslie Jones the most, especially the "this is a room full of nightmares" line. I felt the cameos stopped the pace outside of Murray, who was basically playing a more skeptical version of Venkman.

    Shoot 'em Up (2007)

Yeah that allegory was crystal clear through the movie.

    Episode 140.5 - Minisode 140.5

I've watched that a couple times already and I notice more and more insane things each time. At least it seems to me that they understand that it's ridiculous, and I don't think I've ever seen a heel do something so vile as destroy their rival's landscaping.
  5. This wasn't bad as there were some cool kills, though it was basically creating random characters to murder them seconds later. If you're interested, the Crystal Lake Memories documentary goes into great detail about each movie in the series and reveal that Feldman was supposed to reprise his role for the entire movie rather than a quick cameo, but he was contractually obligated to appear in The Goonies, so his schedule couldn't fit it in. Feldman actually laments not being able to do this movie over The Goonies which might be the most shocking quote in Hollywood history next to "So a Speed sequel without Keanu? Okay I'm in," or "Let's give the Batsuit nipples, the kids will love that!"

    Mortal Kombat Annihilation (1997)

Yeah this movie unfortunately was just playing catch up to the games which by that point exploded with new characters and backstory, most of which players didn't know about if they didn't read the game manual or watch the waiting screens if they let the game sit too long without pressing start. Now at least they do a better job of incorporating it into the games. Also, was it really so bad that we didn't see this fucking asshole? Also Smigg, I like that it is basically you and me keeping this thread/dream alive so here's to you.
  7. Question: Haven't listened to the episode yet or read through this thread so apologies if these have been talked about. Does anyone notice when Ragsdale is introduced while driving and brushing his teeth that he washes his mouth out with soda, doesn't that just negate the whole process of brushing? Also, if after 1000 years of being a mannequin, how is it possible Swanson was never used as kindling for some person's fire? I mean a lot of poverty stricken times occurred between the medieval time she was from and the 80s when she was awoken, surely there was someone who needed to keep warm.

    Dreamcatcher (2003)

I just rewatched this on DVD this weekend, yeah that's right on DVD, and this HAS to be done eventually. From the out of nowhere catchphrases that the characters use that make sense in the book as they have context to Tom Jane using a handgun as a telephone to Whalberg going full tard-alien, this is a must. After finishing it the friends that were watching with me asked about the ending and I tried to explain from memory how it was different from the book, as I knew that Duddits was not an alien and there was more focus on the psychic elements within the "memory warehouse," and that's when I also read the part about King being on Oxy during the writing of this, which I completely forgot that this was the first book he published after his accident. As for the cast and crew, most of the reviews I read praised their work, mainly the cast, for trying to make the most of this turkey, though Kasdan wouldn't work for almost a decade until he made the 2012 flop Darling Companion, and after that he's only gotten writing jobs for The Force Awakens and the Han Solo movie.

    Mortal Kombat Annihilation (1997)

I admit I have loved this series for years, but the mythology can get real ridiculous at times. I'm glad that they retconned a lot of it with MK9.

That video should just be ten seconds long with three words: "The whole movie."

    Empires of the Deep (TBD)

To be fair I think Olga Kurylenko took the role since she isn't the biggest star yet, so to be offered the lead role in what appeared to be a huge movie made in the fastest growing movie market in the world seems like a slam dunk. It's sort of like how many actors take roles in slasher movies thinking it will lead to bigger roles, though 90% of the time it just leads to more bit parts. As for writing it off for taxes, I don't know what the country's policy is, though I assume it's pretty good as there have been a growing number of big budget movies filming there or at least parts of it, I don't know if it's as big Germany where the tax bonuses are huge, especially if the movie is a failure. If you want examples of how that works, just look at Uwe Boll's career as that's how he is able to keep making his shitty movies.

Oh good, the director who gave us Catwoman is/was the director of this piece of shit.

Anyone know where I can find this damn movie, I've looked online a bit but it's not streaming anywhere?

    Episode 139.5 - Minisode 139.5

I'm almost certain that somewhere in the annals of shitty Amazon Prime movies there is a movie with such a title.

    Episode 139.5 - Minisode 139.5

Don't feel bad, I once wrote on the forums a lengthy theory on how Judge Dredd and his cursed world was just the remnants of what happened at the end of Demolition Man, and that Dredd was actually a test tube descendant of Spartan, but the only response I got was from one dude saying that I was bonkers. So sometimes they land and sometimes they don't.

    Episode 139 - Simply Irresistible

I enjoy the cameos, so long as they are recognizable. Like what was mentioned last Sharknado with the German podcasters, who honestly knows them outside of Germany? What I would love is keeping all of the cameos D and C list people except for one moment when all of a sudden there is a super A list or respected actor appearing like Daniel Day-Lewis or Robert Downey Jr. or Jennifer Lawrence, where they treat this role as if it's a bad commercial in Japan that they do for easy money and little recognition. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWYtrF1z5mc

    Episode 139 - Simply Irresistible

June should be more worried if she sees their son holding a teddy bear in a front headlock and waving his free hand in a circle. I'm still trying to figure out whose arm it is on the other page, possibly Undertaker since it looks like a glove on the hand, but I don't know with whatever flames are emanating off of the body.

    Cyborg 2: Glass Shadow (1993)

This totally needs to be done, a major plot point of this movie is using exploding hooker bots for corporate espionage.

    Swiss Army Man (2016)

Okay I have to bump this because holy fuck. I will say that I was surprised in that it didn't end in the Jacob's Ladder-esque way that I thought it would, but it still left me and the rest of the audience just sitting speechless. I'm not kidding in that when it was over no one got up from their seats for a good minute as we tried to comprehend what we just witnessed. An entire focal point of this movie is farting and that Radcliffe's buzzing erection moves around like a navigation arrow in a video game pointing the player to the next objective. I get that there was going to be magical realism in this movie, but trying to get a bearing on what is real and how far it goes into what is made up in Paul Dano's head is hard to get because other people start seeing what he sees which sort of messes with the original premise of him hallucinating.

    Episode 139 - Simply Irresistible

Yeah watching matches like Money In the Bank or the random ladder matches \even though I know the ladders that are broken are stunt-rigged, it still has to hurt like a bitch. I mean I literally winced watching Kevin Owens being slammed on the narrow side of a ladder, I mean there is basically no way to protect yourself from that hurting like hell.

    Episode 139 - Simply Irresistible

Goddamn dude, I still can't get that image out of my head of seeing that leg bend like it was a crushed can. What's worse is that they had him writhing in pain for a couple minutes just so they could finish that shitty match.

    Episode 139 - Simply Irresistible

Speaking of butts, did I miss something about Dick Grayson's ass becoming the center of the DC universe? I'm not kidding in that at least 3 or 4 Batman titles along with Grayson and the Midnighter, he is identifiable, even when under deep disguise, by what is called by male and female characters "the cutest butt ever." Hell in the latest volume of Grayson he robs a chick of her necklace that had a kryptonite jewel and as she's shooting at him, she is sad about it because of his great ass.

    The Purge (2013)

The first Purge is good for being introduced to this world and the idea of the Purge along with how people interact with the notion of no crime for a 12 hr period. There's nothing that really connects the first two movies outside of premise and a single character cameo who I myself forgot about since he was sort of a quick glance in the second film. The only other real notable thing about the first movie was that while many times a scenario like this would give the audience main characters who are actively against the focal idea of the film, yet this movie has the characters as supporters of what the Purge does, just not active participants. I thought that was a decent twist on how a movie features its lead characters, although in the scenario of the first film I would have Purged the shit out of the two kids in the main family, as they were two of the most unlikable and most deserving to die, in almost any movie that I have ever seen. The kids from Ray Donovan are less assholes than these two fuckwads.

    The Purge (2013)

You're right in that the first was the best because it was basically a two man play, albeit in a darker environment. Also, in my opinion the twist at the end is one of the best in all of movie history, because no one was expecting it and it played into the theme of taking things for granted. As for the sequels, I liked most of them since I love gory horror movies and many had decent twists and traps, though the sixth one had such a shoe-horned universal healthcare message in it that it was almost unbearable. What's funny about that series is that it got a ton of flack for the violence and gore, which started around the third one I think, and I want to say James Wan was asked about how they came up with some of the ideas for the traps and how they could handle being so violent in their films. He gave the best response by saying they just looked at books about the Spanish Inquisition and the Crusades for starting points, and then REELED BACK the violence because the violence people see today in movies is nothing compared to what was actually done during our darkest times as a human civilization. As for this series, I hope they end with this one as the previous film hinted at revolution against the Purge as it is revealed to be a culling of the lower classes in society under the guise of releasing one's pent up frustrations. Now that the setting of the movies has evolved from a single house to the top of the political food chain, this should be the end of the series.
