  1. Well the same thing happened with the Grammys where they had the Best Disco Award in 1980, after disco was dead. It was the only year that they had the award.
  2. Wasn't Disco Demolition where basically the fans raided the White Sox's field and royally fucked it up as disco albums were burning in a bonfire? I remember hearing that people were stealing the actual base plates as well as screwing on the field before cops were able to break it up. Also in regard to wrestling talk, if you guys haven't seen it I highly recommend watching The Shiek, which is the documentary about the Iron Shiek and how he's had this resurgence as a pop culture icon. It is amazing watching his life story and some of the crap that he's gone through in his career, and he is hilarious to listen to as at this point in his life he just rambles out whatever pops into his head on anything going on around him.
  3. Only in America can a pimp become a sports hall of famer.
  4. Well the WWE might of went with a knockoff version as to avoid lawsuits. So there lineup would include a dentist: a hockey player a trash man a plumber a race car driver
  5. That's sort of like when Michael Jordan was asked what political party he votes for and his response was to say that he wasn't going to answer because "both Republicans and Democrats by my shoes" or something along those lines.

Thomas and the Magic Railroad (2000)

I loved Thomas the Train Engine as a kid and watched the show every morning on PBS, but this is just something else. I can guess that they got Baldwin and Fonda because their kids or grandkids loved the show, similar to Raul Julia's kids picking Street Fighter as his last role. Also the more shocking thing about this series is that the Baldwin was replacing George fricking Carlin as Mr. Conductor, which that itself should be the real question of how they got him to do a kids show. Mara Wilson wrote a great article for Cracked about why she left the business and lucked out in having two of the only decent stage parents in the industry (http://www.cracked.com/blog/7-reasons-child-stars-go-crazy-an-insiders-perspective/), which is definitely worth the read. Lastly, I don't think this will be done as Jason Woliner from Human Giant was on the American version of Thomas the Train Engine.
  7. To be fair that's how he identifies his character within the band.
  8. Wait so you guys don't have Idris Elba in your bedrooms to activate your bridges? Psh, you guys don't know what you're missing.
  9. Is there a Pete Holmes GPS voice like there's one for Doug Benson? If so: Especially if it's him doing Pacino.
  10. What I'm talking about is an extension of what you said. While they talk about the vitriol being shown by "100%" of the commenters, they in turn are slighting the rest of the board who are not a part of the issue. The idea of "they are negative so I'm not going to join and in turn condemn everyone from this other online platform" is basically a pot calling the kettle black scenario. Yes it's unfortunate that a few people don't want to join the forum because of a few posts, but by doing the same thing on Facebook, they basically confirmed to you why you don't go on the Facebook page to comment. In the end it ends up being a vicious cycle of people in the middle seeing the fringes and saying "yeah that's not for me."
  11. It's online commenters that led me to stop writing for sports websites, because they are fucking BRUTAL with the air of anonymity. I wasn't even writing serious shit about sports, just comedic lists for the most part, and people take that as an assault on them personally. There is no changing online society unfortunately because for all intents and purposes people are all the same especially from behind a computer screen miles away from the people they are talking to: assholes. I've learned to just say "oh well," move forward, and forget about it. Just realize that those posting on the Facebook page probably don't have much going for them in that they are listing their names fully while spewing their shit, so they either have nothing to hold onto if someone really decides to push and ruin them, or they are vapid that they don't give a shit.
  12. I would love an episode on Cruising, though that may be too dark for the show. What gets me about that movie is the director filmed almost an hour of hardcore gay sex in the leather clubs and then cut it from the film because he said it wasn't necessary for the movie, he just filmed it for the hell of it all.
  13. That is totally easy to explain because England never sees the sun and she sucks the souls out of children ever week.

    Pan (2015)

After finally watching that clip, I can say it wasn't so bad as much as it was out of place. That would almost feel more acceptable if it was in a Mad Max film, which seems like the look that they were going for with that intro to Blackbeard, but considering it's a Victorian era film where music wasn't much more than either an orchestra playing or one guy solemnly blowing a trumpet, it's very odd.
  16. That man was a goddamn genius. The woman though perfectly encapsulated the mindset of a lot of people online today where she basically said "you have the right to say whatever but..." and went on how she felt Patrice really didn't have that right and then proceeded to name call. It reminds me of when Patton Oswalt did the butter man joke breakdown on Twitter revealing how no matter how much you cleanse something, someone will always find a way to be offended and it's unfortunate that it is to the point where most just don't say anything out of fear or reprisal.

    The Punisher (2004)

Nothing like that in the MAX series, there are times when the Punisher lets a hostage or target go, but in those situations the person is not likely to survive the situation that they are in, like in the case of letting a guy go in an alligator infested swamp after he helped the Punisher against cannibals. There was a Judge Dredd story years ago where Dredd is walking around Mega City ignoring flagrant crimes and pleas for help, confusing criminals. It's only at the strike of noon or something does he reveal that his suspension is over and now he can go back to work and start busting heads.
  18. I don't know so maybe you guys can answer this, were all the members of the Village People gay?
  19. I honestly don't care what you are: man, woman, straight, bi, gay, trans, or any of the other dozens of terms that have popped up in the last decade or so that I still don't understand even after reading definitions in online dictionaries or wikipedia, if you aren't clicking for me, you just aren't clicking for me. I liked this episode for the most part though at times it seemed like the rhythm was thrown off for one reason or another, but it got back on track quickly. I also now desperately want Pete Holmes back for an episode for the Lawnmower Man movies. I thought Cameron was good though I did think the women's pay remark in regarding dropping the mic was completely out of left field and stopped the flow, sort of like how Chris Hardwick has gone on rants on At Midnight that take all the fun from the show which had to be edited down in order for his rant to make it on air. Other than that she was good, in my opinion. Speaking on who gets the most shade thrown their way in regards to comedy, I don't pay attention to what people say because tastes are different, and the internet is such a volatile place so much that it can ruin careers now, if you want proof of that look at what is happening right now to the girl who was runner up on this last season of American Idol regarding her neutral comments regarding recent laws LGTB issues in the South. I have no problem with a comedian's style as long as it's funny. I like Amy Schumer and Nikki Glazer's style because they make it work naturally and it's funny, while on the other hand I cannot stand Sarah Silverman because it seems so forced with what she says. There have been episodes of Doug Loves Movies that I just can't get through because a guest is just either too much of an ass (Pete Holmes and Graham Elwood have fallen into this category when they goes out of their way to be contrarian) or when they are just belligerent (Anthony Jeselnick and Schumer during one of the paid episodes where they were so drunk all they did was scream fuck and dick for the first 25 minutes of the episode). Basically looking at any comment section for ANYTHING online is enough to cause your hair to turn grey, so I just avoid it unless I've looked through and realized that for the most part it's just a few outlier commentators being dickbags. This forum is the rare oasis in the internet desert that has stayed pretty standard for what is talked about, though episodes like this and a few recommendations on the other forum seem to occasionally bring out the worst in people, on both sides of the argument. I mean seriously
  20. Question: How did the Leatherman eat anything with that monstrous mustache of his, I mean that thing had to have caught everything that he tried to eat. I mean I have a full bear and mustache now and find it problematic at times either eating or drinking and getting food caught or liquid in my mustache, I can only image how much more it's amplified with that steroid ridden caterpillar across his upper lip. Additionally, does anyone else think that Gutenberg would be better suited to offer the backing tracks to the music of Alfie from The Apple, similar to the Macklemore/Ryan Lewis partnership? Also, it would make sense that Jenner was asked to be in Airplane as it was at the time of Police Squad having a celebrity guest every episode which transferred into the Naked Gun films. You also had random cameos on shows like the Love Boat and Gilligan's Island, which apparently Jenner had some roles in as well.
  21. Omission: After watching this movie, I can honestly say that it could have been remade in the late 90s/early 2000s for either Backstreet Boys or N'Sync as their formation stories were sorta the same thing as the Village People, with both bands being made up of five guys who had little to no prior experience working with one another and their resulting band was sold on a mixture of their singing and dancing abilities. So I am dropping the gauntlet to the HDTGM crew to write those movies, since it's apparent that they are never going to get the chance to write a Sharknado sequel or Fast & Furious movie.
  22. Another connection between this film and the Simpsons is that both this and the Simpsons Movie are two of only a few that were under R rated films that featured male full frontal nudity. Also I don't know the history of the Village People but were they advertised as a "gay band" or just a band that ended up catering to gay culture? Because watching this movie these characters stand out so much, especially the biker who gave the lispiest version of Danny Boy I've ever heard, or the Indian who just walks around New York with his headband and vest, that it almost seems like there was no other reason for this band to exist except for some music executive to key into a certain market.

    The Punisher (2004)

The unrated version did a little to help make this movie more like what the comic was, especially in dealing with the traitorous friend who sold out Castle. Some of the stuff like the wacky neighbors or the fight with the Russian were almost directly from the book, but Castle's who mind game with Travolta about his wife and partner was just ridiculous. The last act and a half did make up a little for the first bit, but it just didn't have the total feel of a Punisher film. Even "Dirty Laundry" had major issues as it had the Punisher ignoring crimes that were happening right in front of him.

    Episode 133.5 - Minisode 133.5

I remember that there was a little about a woman being cast, but not so much about the race, which usually gets more press. I was stunned reading the Iron Fist stuff because a person who had worked for Marvel, though I don't know if recently, really started the fire for that whole shebang about how it should be an Asian actor, which in turn caused a counter backlash from people condemning the remark as racist because the remark came off as only Asians would be good at a martial arts character.

    Episode 133.5 - Minisode 133.5

Doctor Strange I only know from when I see him in crossover stories and he's a know-it-all-asshole like Tony Stark and Reed Richards, which is why I call the Illuminati the Legion of Dickbags. I think Tilda Swinton has become the go-to person for ambiguous portrayals as she can appear to come off as so many different types of people. I do know the Ancient One is male but I'm assuming Marvel acknowledges that the vast majority of the viewing audience won't know that so they went with Swinton, though I am surprised that there isn't a huge backlash for it since the character is Asian in the comics, yet people are up in arms about the casting of Iron Fist not being an Asian actor even though the entire history of Danny Rand is that he is a white guy who learned this ancient martial art and became a superhero. As for Suicide Squad there is a little bit of a silver lining that is being glossed over in the trailers in that it appears that they are trying to recruit the Enchantress who has a variety of dark art magic powers, and magic is the biggest weakness of Superman next to Kryptonite. I agree it's kinda burying the lead with how they present it, especially after the first trailer did a good job of showing Amanda Waller wanting to set up a villians team with built in deniability.
