  1. Yeah Yeardley needed to desperately die in this movie but a coked up Stephen King wasn't making the most sound decisions at that point. Also, I almost think that Curtis was legit fed up with her shit at that moment and was trying to kill them both, if not just her. It was sort of "I'll show you bitch, we're getting in there or we're going to die trying so I don't have to hear your yammering anymore." As for the baseball coach, I get why he only pulled out $.50 for the machine because as a kid playing little league, I remember those things were never the most reliable, at either giving you your soda or giving you your change. So the coach was being cautious by trying to get a can at a time and not lose all or most of his money if the machine was faulty.
  2. That makes sense since King is a huge rock and roll fan, I think he still owns a rock station up in Maine. And in his drug addled mind he must have felt he was making the most American movie ever so who else would he cast but Springsteen? Also, since today is King's birthday, has anyone from Earwolf emailed this to him as a birthday present?
  3. Yeah that's what I got from the scene when I saw it, we really didn't know how long they were out there working, since we got the fueling montage. Also their hands might have been blistered and tore up because the pumps were forcing them to manually hold the fuel release as a way to make sure that at least a group of them were always working and not just setting the hold latch and then running off to try and form a plan of attack. Seeing that they would be holding their hand in the same position for 10 hours, while eventually getting exhausted under the summer heat, they might bang up their hands by accidentally releasing the handle during a dehydrated haze and try to correct it quickly, like when you try and catch something mid-fall.
  4. Yeah the short story was titled "Trucks" and the second movie follows it a little better in that the characters have really no idea why the machines have begun attacking them. It's more straightforward than Overdrive which is flat out bonkers, but I feel it's a worse movie. There are some great crazy scenes like the toy truck curb stomping a mailman and the hazmat kill scene, but other than that it's pretty boring. If you have Prime you can watch it for free but do it only for a couple scenes.
  5. Good thing I got my DVD before the apparent shortage, getting it for $5.

    Zombeavers (2014)

I'm watching this right now and wondering if it's just straight up bad or being played up a la Sharknado. The acting is incredibly bad, but there are some great moments from the various neighbors played by great character actors. Also Bill Burr is shockingly in this as a trucker working with John Mayer in a bad mustache, I would love to hear Bill's thoughts on this movie.
  7. This might be the greatest episode of Monstervision ever because it is one of the greatest pieces of evidence of Joe Bob getting completely sloshed during each episode, there was another one where he would go on a rant about his buddy and a girl he was dating and other random shit.
  8. CORRECTION: As stated earlier the group's plan was to get to a sailboat since it would have no engine, thus not under the influence of diaRhea-M. As for the other machines, I think the logic was if it had an engine or was powered electrically, then it could be controlled. I was surprised that no one on the panel mentioned that Giancarlo Esposito was the guy in the arcade after the spoiler for Breaking Bad, especially after they showed his scene in the film. I was also surprised that no one mentioned that a legit teenager walks in on Emilio and the hitchhiker after they just got done fucking and sits down to talk to them a la Denny from The Room, made even weirder by all of the porno pictures on the wall. I would ask if anyone went up to Stephen King and mentioned that it might be kinda illegal to have a minor around full frontal porno, but then again, cocaine. And since this movie came out three years before The Simpsons premiered, can was credit Stephen King for creating "eat my shorts?" Also I finally figured out the answer to life, the universe, and everything is not 42 but cocaine. p.s. can we get a full rendition of "You're the Best Around" sung by Jason?
  9. Dammit my whole point for coming onto this thread was to spoil shows.

    EPISODE 118.5 - MINISODE 118.5

That makes sense then because I did see it on VHS and there were some fairly gory scenes. And yes this happens:

    EPISODE 118.5 - MINISODE 118.5

Trucks is just plain bad outside of a few incredible scenes. I know I posted one in the Bad Movie Recommendation forum where for some reason a regular toy truck someone came to life and killed a mailman by basically curbstomping him. Then there was a scene where a hazmat truck with suits hooked up in the back, one of the suits fills with air, grabs an axe, and kills a guy. Also, for a straight-to-DVD movie this movie came off pretty light on content, like they were preparing for it to be shown on TV a bunch so they made it in a way that there wouldn't need to be much editing.

That's a dance that's a mixture of the Robot, cocaine, and the siezure dance:

    EPISODE 118.5 - MINISODE 118.5

Well from what I remember as a kid playing baseball or riding my bike in the field, those weren't always the best places to ride one's bike. Add to that the sudden fear of imminent death and it kinda makes sense that he might fall, though they probably could have showed him a bit more freaked out.

    EPISODE 118.5 - MINISODE 118.5

Dammit okay, now I'm playing catchup from when I was at work. Yeah there were quite a few of the new DC that I couldn't get behind, though new series like Red Lanterns, New Guardians, Suicide Squad, and even All Star Western were pretty good. Yet the one that truly stood out for me was Azzarello's Wonder Woman, and I say this as never being a fan of the character before this run. It was an amazing story that wasn't so much a superhero story but rather a story about Greek Gods among the modern world, kinda like Preacher if it was based in Greek Mythology and not Christianity and also not as batshit insane. Also I love Azzarello's work from 100 Bullets so it was a win-win for me. Also, read 100 Bullets if you haven't that series is beyond incredible. I was even more bummed in that I had the books in my Amazon cart for so long that I had built up expectations for the series because I thought it was going to be a straightforward spy series, not a sci-fi sex romp featuring time travel and alternate timelines. I do like most of Fraction's work but what you said reminds me of my love/hate relationship with Jonathan Hickman who is currently writing the Secret Wars storyline. When he is on he is really ON with his writing (Manhattan Projects, Secret, East of West, p.s. read ALL OF THESE) but when he goes off the rails the stories are incredibly hard to follow and make negative sense (Nightly News, The Red Wing). This was the most pleasant surprise of the entire Marvel Now run as it was incredibly hilarious. The only unfortunate thing is that the series has ended, which made me want to pee a little. He hits a molehill or divot which causes him to fall over if I remember right, it wasn't that the bike was taken over by the aliens. And that Ewok gif is easily the saddest and most fucked up thing to put in a movie was pretty light up to that point outside of Leia choking Jabba.

Well the Heynong Man guys keep popping up here every few days, so what would be the difference?

    EPISODE 118.5 - MINISODE 118.5

Yeah it's best to start at the beginning since that's when the new characters are primarily introduced and DC and Marvel have become pretty hardcore with keeping up the continuity within their stories. Though this will be a bit more difficult in the coming months as the series are restarted after Secret Wars, which has led to things like Uncanny Avengers going 5 volumes in TPB, restarting for one, and then ending again. And I too know the struggle of having a crapton of TPBs: And yes, the only reason those paperbacks are on top of my desk is because all of the drawers and cabinets are full. Yet being a librarian and lifelong book reader, I will always keep with paper over electronic, though I understand the convenience of it.

Ah okay, also is this movie funny because I keep seeing people say that this is a horror comedy?

    EPISODE 118.5 - MINISODE 118.5

Yeah the second volume is out for Sex Criminals. Concrete Park is great and I met Tony and Erika at the American Library Association convention this past June and they are really passionate about their work, but they don't take themselves too seriously, which was evident by a 20 minute conversation I had with them about how covering up the nipples and some of the sex they feature in their comic would allow it to be purchased and put into the prison library that I run.

    EPISODE 118.5 - MINISODE 118.5

I will say though that if anything, skip his Casanova series as I read all three volumes and it is maybe one of the most WTF series I have ever read. It was like he read Gerard Way's Umbrella Academy and thought "I can go crazier," hell he even had UA artist Gabriel Ba do the art for most of the series. How far have you gotten on Sex Criminals because there is amazing stuff in it like Kegel Face, the dildo throne, and of course, butt stuff. Bitch Planet is in my Amazon cart, and if you like prison-set stories check out Concrete Park by Tony Puryear (writer of the Schwartzenegger film Eraser) and his wife Erika Alexander (Cosby Show and Living Single). It's a great mix of sci-fi and Oz and is an amazing comic debut for a creating team.

    EPISODE 118.5 - MINISODE 118.5

The Kathryn Bigelow comment was in regards to female directors doing action movies. He said that most people point to Bigelow as an action director and this is the person that stupid people mention because they don't know of anyone else like Lexi Alexander. It wasn't a comment that there enough female directors in Hollywood because of Bigelow, but that they have the gall to not know of anyone else, but it goes the same for male directors too in that there are a lot of good ones out there but most people only know a real handful. I'm amazed that I remember it that well though I'm not surprised because I remember some of the stupidest shit. Family member's birthday, no idea, overall summary of a pro wrestling storyline from 1999, I can talk for an hour on that shit because it's my jam. I too am a DC guy mainly for Batman who is the shit, but Marvel has hit it out of the park with their Marvel Now line. With Superior Foes of Spiderman, Deadpool, Secret Avengers, Hawkeye, and Wolverine and the X-Men, among others they have some amazing series. DC has always had a problem of overloading on their keystone characters like Superman, Batman and the Green Lantern. They have built up some good series with Brian Azzarello's Wonder Woman, the Suicide Squad, and Red Hood and the Outlaws, but you look back at the other stories in the New 52 and they just don't hold as much water. Also, you guys need to check out Fraction's other stuff like Sex Criminals which is hilarious and amazing.

    The Visit (2015)

I thought about seeing this but when I was reading a review of it the bastard reviewer spoiled the twist, which didn't sound that bad in comparison to other M. Night twists, to me it came off like a vintage Tales From the Crypt episode. Yet if any M. Night movies are to be done by the show it has to be The Happening first.
