Why did they change the theme song?

One alteration is that June's eyebrows should be drawn on with a dark pencil and Jason should have a tear drop tattoo.

    Entourage The Movie

I'm the same way, thankfully the Nerdist podcast has been free for the most part of this kind of soapboxing has been nil to none, at least with the episodes that I have listened to. I did have to stop listening to The Indoor Kids for a while during the Gamergate controversy or anything about women in gaming as that show just became awful to listen to and became what I hated about that whole issue: online trolls vs. asshole industry workers. That show still has some of that eek into an episode from time to time but that's only when it involves someone who was a part of that shitstorm. Same here, I never liked the show, but understood what it was going for but my friends who liked it ran the gamut of backgrounds. This whole issue is sort of like the female Expendables that they have been trying to put together for years now, but the problem there is that there isn't a huge roster of established female action stars in the same way there are for men, hence them trying to sign Meryl Streep. Then people were mad at the movie because it wouldn't be like the male Expendables in that the women would be using their sex appeal and undercover abilities to complete their mission rather than drop kicking a hole through a guy like would possibly be seen in the other series or that the director had really only done chick flicks prior to this movie, which is happening a lot now with blockbuster movies. Speaking of the Sex and the City movies in regards to this topic, it reminds me of the Sex in the City 3 parody that Robot Chicken did where the studio tried to make the movie guy friendly in an attempt to get a bigger gross after the second film didn't do so well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4ZRpUithco

    Entourage The Movie

From watching his semi-rant, Hardwick was referring to a video some comedian did where he binge watched the entire series to see how many instances there were where there were two female characters sharing a scene together talking without one of the guys around and it came out to like 8 scenes over the course of the series. He then made a quick game of having contestants figure out what roles various extras were playing in the movie which included Bob Saget's date and a Sushi girl, but that's what Entourage is about: douchey guys from Queens living out an equally douchey life in Hollywood. Unfortunately, and I say this as a fan of Hardwick and Nerdist, he has started to turn his show into a bit of a soapbox, at times going on for 4-5 minutes which is a lot for a 20 minute show, to air his grievances and call out those who are a part of that issue. It really kills the flow of the show and then they have to cut out a bunch of stuff from the game in order to fit the speech in. Also, would it not be metal to have more Jazz hooks?

    Monkeybone (2001)

This movie is crazy and would be good for an episode. It was like Hunter S. Thompson decided to write was his dreams were like when he was at the height of his drug use. Also everyone has forgotten Fraser's sister played by Megan Mullaly who is almost actively trying to kill him for a paper thin reason of them having an agreement that they would pull the plug on the other immediately if they were ever in a coma. Also Rose McGowan is a catgirl for some reason. And let's not forget that the drug that gives people nightmares was created by Fonda's character who's job was to help people with their nightmares, not create a drug to give them the worst ones of their lives. This movie was also a gigantic box office bomb with a 75 million dollar budget but only making under 8 million.

    Eyes Wide Shut

This was in essence a standard Kubrick film. It had his usual pacing, odd moments, ambiguity. etc. This wasn't my favorite film of his (The Shining takes that spot) but I don't think it would do well for the show as the weird stuff could be explained as being standard Kubrickisms.

    Vacation (2015)

I remember that feeling when I saw the Fury Road trailer. I just don't get the need for a Vacation reboot as only the original, Christmas, and to some extent European were good. Plus the over exaggeration of grossness doesn't really work for this series as while it did have some gross stuff it was more based in the humor of the family dynamic. Also that scene where the woman is hit by the truck is completely ripped from a Family Guy episode.

    Entourage The Movie

They shouldn't have lied to him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tg5aVzSDme4 I think with Entourage's reception over the years it is a lot different now then when it premiered years back. While it did have a negative stigma for being a show for frat boy douches from some, it was mostly liked especially for the performances from some of the actors, though it tended to get less favorable reviews as it dragged on into seasons 6-8. Now though with their being this push for stronger female characters the show is put in a more negative light since it kept with the show's guy oriented premise. Chris Hardwick completely ripped the show and its fans on @ Midnight after its opening week saying that he was glad it failed because it didn't have strong female characters and that only sexist douchebags watched the show while at the same time praising Spy for coming in number 1, which doesn't wash because those movies are for two completely different crowds with very different tastes, and to be fair it looks like even Spy is barely going to break even at the box office. It was a complete halt of the show that he went on this mini rant about the movie not having any real substantial female characters, but really people don't expect that from the movie if they watched the show. And let's be honest, no one was expecting Entourage to be a blockbuster, it was going to make the crowd that watched the show happy, which it apparently did for my friends who watched both, and that was it. As far as TV show movie adaptations I can say the only one that comes to mind as actually being good and successful were: the Mission Impossible movies Maverick the Fugitive the Equalizer the Addams Family movies the 21 Jump Street movies South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut while The A-Team and Beavis and Butt-Head Do America are guilty pleasures for me.

    Maximum Overdrive

Yeardley Smith's character is maybe one of the most unlikeable characters in all of movie history. I always hate it when the least likable character doesn't die in a horror movie, because it is such a huge letdown. It would be like the douchey boyfriend not getting his or even worse, the horrible character dies doing something noble in an attempt to make right all of the bad things they have done, which completely knocks the wind out of their death scene.

    Robocop 2 (1990)

See I felt that the first RZ Halloween movie was a pretty good remake as it did a good job of humanizing Michael Myers and explaining some of the reasons he did what he did, though the sequel got kinda weird with all of the psychological aspects. The Dunes Chainsaw movie wasn't bad at creating some pretty tense moments and you can never go wrong with R. Lee Ermey.

    Robocop 2 (1990)

The main problem with both those movies is that they took away any ambiguity or message from the originals. Total Recall you didn't know if Quaid was dreaming or not but in the remake they make it abundantly clear that he isn't and for some reason now his non-wife is the main villain. Then in Robocop is the overall theme of what really makes a human human and not a machine, leading to the very end when Robocop asks to be called Murphy. In the remake it's made very clear that he didn't die and he's basically wearing a large prosthetic. I think both could have been done well if the makers of both decided that they needed to be dumbed down for mass audience appeal.

    Fantasy movie league

Are they doing that again? I remember them doing it a couple years back but not really since. And if you don't get in at the very start of the summer then you might as well not try because there's no way you can beat any team that has both Avengers and Jurassic World on it unless they completely crap the bed with the rest of their team.

I think the real message is "getting hit with bullets doesn't pay" because that kid made bank. Did you not see how much loot was in that truck?!

    A Deadly Adoption (2015)

I'm watching it now and two minutes in this movie is already nuts. From the hacky dialogue to how Ferrell goes from his natural hair to that awful wig to the opening dock scene, this movie is a mix of SNL skit and Lifetime movie. There was an article on Hitflix about if it's a parody and some people are just not getting the joke. One person was actually pissed they had something like this on a distinguished channel like lifetime.

    A Deadly Adoption (2015)

It looks like Wiig is playing it serious while Ferrell is lampooning the usual Lifetime tropes, especially with that wig and beard. Very interested in seeing this.

    Jurassic World (2015)

    8. Masrani had his head in the clouds like Hammond did in regards to the park, which InGen is taking advantage of similar to what they did with Hammond in JP 1 and 2. I'm sure it was something along the lines of the corporate espionage that happened in the books and in the first couple movies where after being told to make this new monster, Wu went to the InGen board and made a deal for his work and for protection, as he was asking about when he got on the helicopter. I figure it was a case of "he told you to make this new dinosaur; do it but follow his words to a T, which leaves Masrani in the dark and if it goes tits up, like it has in the past each time, we can use him as a patsy saying that these were his instructions and its his fault and then be able to take complete control of the company from him in order to openly work with military applications for the dinosaurs. He would die eventually so that never had to happen, though I can see it getting explained more in the sequel. Wu knew everything about what the dinosaur could do but with whatever instructions he received from who he was working with in InGen, kept it secret from everyone, as per the unknowing instructions of Masrani. 9. Teen hormones and boners, plain and simple. The kid wanted to throw his dick around everywhere. 10. The wolf story I assume was Hoskins' attempt and making a connection with Grady and showing that they were the same guy, despite them being polar opposites on everything.

    Jurassic World (2015)

    1. Dr. Wu didn't tell anyone what was in Indominus Rex because he was told that the less they know the better and to make the most terrifying creature ever to bring up attendance. 2. The children knew because they had worked on a car of a similar build and style at their grandfather's home, a convenient point sure but still was explained. 3. Product placement in everything these days, and not as bad as movies like the Matrix trilogy, the last few Bond films, or anything Michael Bay has done in the last decade. 4. Maybe 3 minutes at best of all the security stuff, which is short in comparison to the other JP movies, especially 1 which makes sense since Crichton liked to put a lot of tech jargon in his novels. 5. Misrani was an egotistical billionaire, plain and simple, he felt he could save the day by flying. 6. D'onofrio's character explains that InGen has been in the weapons industry for a while, but Misrani is so distracted/head in the clouds that even he doesn't realize all that they do as a conglomerate. 7. There is at least one drawn out kill in the JP movies, this one was it.
  20. Glad to know I'm not the only one who cringed at the Mylah issue. Overall I agree she's a "needs the right material" actress, which has been with That 70s Show, Family Guy, and Ted, but things out of that wheel house like Max Payne, American Psycho 2 and others really show her faults. In regards to this movie, how much more leeway are the Wachowskis going to get? The first Matrix was amazing and got Oscars, the second was okay but started to show how the siblings' relied so much on CGI and BS psychobabble, and the third was pretty drecky. Then Speed Racer completely tanked, Cloud Atlas had all of its issues and didn't perform well at the box office, and now Jupiter completely bombed. So my question is did they sell their souls to the same Hollywood devil who allows M. Night to continue to make movies?

And to get the worst TV ratings in the company's history.

    The Lost World: Jurassic Park

Speaking of his character, I was sort of put off by the monetary stupidity of the top level characters in this corporation for JW. In one scene the owner of the company tells Chris Pratt that they aren't ready to kill their new dinosaur because it cost them $26 million to create it, despite it killing two park workers already. Yet in the Lost World in a deleted scene they talk about how much InGen lost in lawsuits to the families of those killed in the first film with Muldoon family getting something like $30 million and Sam Jackson's Mr. Arnold getting like $23 million, so the loss of $26 million should be a drop in the bucket compared to the potential lawsuits coming their way. Also, shouldn't that park be making money hand over foot?

Why did they change the theme song?

That was WCW, whenever they fell into something hot, they killed it because it didn't go along with their planned stories. There was a great quote from Bobby Heenan about it in The Death of WCW about that being a key difference between WCW and WWE where while WCW would not go with the flow and kill angles that came about naturally, the WWE would accept those changes and amplify them to help their product. Killing the Rednecks angle was incredibly stupid considering how hated Master P and his crew were inside WCW, and how fans absolutely loved the country guys despite them all being heels only a couple months prior.

Why did they change the theme song?

This thread just reminds me of this old gimmick from later years WCW, it actually started to do well in actual country stations until WCW decided to kill the angle dead for no reason.
