By looking at the wiki page for the movie I caught that someone had a little fun with the plot description. "Meanwhile, he embarks on an extreme shopping spree over the course of 6 days, buying a castle-style house (by outbidding Quigley using the voice box on his computer over the phone) along with many other expensive items (limousine service, go-kart track, water slide, hookers, etc.)."

Are we not sure that Scott wasn't the kid in the movie acting under a stage name?

Episode 90 — Sharknado 2: The Second One
RyanSz replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
Regarding the arm situation, when he said "she won't be needing this anymore" it seemed to be in regard to the shark, as in she won't be needing this as food anymore. The amount chewed off is just another example of bad design and prop work by this movie. Also when Tara Reid went in to get her plastic surgery do you think she said "make me look like the jenna jameson of today?" -
I'm actually amazed that there weren't a bunch of these unlike last summer when EVERY week whatever the big movie was got nominated on the forum. I just came back from this and this movie was amazing. Also, considering this shows tangential connection to a character in this movie, Seth Green needs to continue his work within the Marvel Universe .

I just an excel sheet for the movies I own, but that's just the librarian in me.

I never trust the IMDB ratings as that sight has basically become a haven of trolls/haters and film school snobs. I'm amazed that this forum hasn't been overrun by them after these last few years.

The guy's name was Juice (Ton Loc) who was supposed to come get the cash. The criminal gave the kid a blank check for his bike and using the best scanner and printer known to man, even by today's standards, he makes himself a check for a million bucks. Once the manager sees the check he thinks he's Juice.

I own this movie and still can't get over the fact that Shaloub is meant to be the hero in this when up to that point he always played second fiddle to the star and was comedic relief.

The overall idea that he could buy so much with only a million dollars, four hundred thousand which right away went to getting the house, is insane. The only inkling as to why it could work is that the economy was in a boom at the time and we are looking back now on it from our prism of today's economy. Oh and fuck those parents, the only parents worse in pop culture history are Hansel and Gretals parents.

Yeah I got sold on it being a more action-y Limitless as was shown in the trailer, but basically all of that shit happens in the first 20 mins and then we get the existential bullshit that makes up the remaining 70 minutes.

Unfortunately Choi doesn't speak a word of English in the movie if I remember right. The visuals are pretty good for when Lucy is seeing the cells and electrons of everything, but that's about it. The ending is literally out of this world and reminds me of the South Park episode where Kyle starts reading quantum physics books because he felt like nothing mattered in life. Also there are completely absurd things in the movie like when an entire squad of French police show up to a building to protect Lucy and Morgan Freeman, but when they pull up to the building they are parking literally 20 feet from Asian gangsters who are unloading automatic weapons and a fucking bazooka from their cars, and the cops run by them without batting an eye.

Oh I would have thought so too from the trailers, but there is at least 5-10 minutes of Morgan Freeman giving a seminar on the science of evolution of the brain and what theoretical things a person can do with that power. It's sort of like how Revolver. which Besson wrote and produced, that used psychology and Kabbalah as a way to try and create a gangster story that went nowhere, but the themes were so heavy handed it was absurd. It's like he gets an idea in his head for a topic and decides to write a fun popcorn flick, but he doesn't know where to stop before it becomes an attempt at coming off as realistic. I mean there was no way people would take Fifth Element as realistic and it seems like this is what he was going for with this, but he went over that tipping point in a big way.

See I would agree with that, but the majority of his directed films do have a strong plot or at least a cohesive narrative that the audience can follow: Leon, Fifth Element, The Messenger, the Arthur series, and hell even the Family had a plot. This was an attempt at pseudo-science mixed with pretty visuals at times. It almost looked like Morgan Freeman at times was going in his head "fuck didn't I already make Transcendence?"

Considering the trailer came out this weekend, I have high hopes for it being full of crazy action. I loved Thunderdome as it was action packed like Road Warrior and the actual Thunderdome fight scene was pretty creative. For me I always felt the first Mad Max was the weakest of the trilogy, which isn't saying much as it's a pretty good movie, it's just that it's slower paced than the other two and is more of a revenge film than an action movie, plus Gibson was still fleshing out the character in that movie. Also, Tina Turner's getup in this film holds a funny place in my heart after going to a strip club a few years ago when the guest dancer/porn star came out dancing dressed up almost exactly like her to "The Final Countdown" (it was New Year's Weekend).

To be fair this plot was basically a copy of Man on Fire, minus the kids being killed and the bodyguard going on a revenge spree. And instead of the family hiring a burnt out alcoholic to guard their child, this movie has them hiring a guard from a less than reputable security firm.

Thankfully no, but every week the guy who manages the TV access for inmates changes the two movies shown. This week was Secret Life of Walter Mitty which is batshit insane at points and the new Jack Ryan which was horrible.

Which Movies Does HDTGM Absolutely Need To Review?
RyanSz replied to Blast Hardcheese's topic in How Did This Get Made?
My List: 1) The Happening 2) Dreamcatcher 3) Maximum Overdrive 4) Double Dragon 5) The Wizard And if we're doing a top 10 6) Southland Tales 7) Return to Sleepaway Camp 8) League of Extraordinary Gentlemen 9) Showgirls 10) Robocop 2 Gothika was insane for the ending alone where they let a woman who KILLED HER HUSBAND WITH AN AXE to go free. What's worse is that she KNOWS she did it! -
I thought there was already a thread for this one when the initial trailer came out. They actually showed this at the prison I work at because, these guys have to pay for their crimes. I watched about two minutes of it before my mind could not take anymore shittyness.

No the new Saw is Paranormal Activity. I have higher hopes for the sequel as it looks like it's going to give viewers what they wanted out of the first film with total anarchy and mayhem rather than a home invasion movie.

I fucking loved this movie. Definitely buying when it comes out and the performances were fantastic along with the great visuals. I loved the idea of the story being done in a way similar to "The Masque of the Red Death" where the rebels would bare witness to a variety of lives they were not used to, each representing a darker and darker way of life as they went further towards the head of the train. Boo on you sir!

The Indoor Kids has some episodes dedicated to crazy games or tropes, especially in the earlier episodes where they talk about movie video games and "lost" video games.

FOR SHAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay I remember it being something like that. But what about in this episode it seemed like there was a skip in the episode where something was removed?

What was cut out before started talking about how they had wrestled for WCW? A similar thing happened for the No Hold Barred Episode when Jason interrupted an audience member.

Having now watched this movie again for said Library event, I think I can explain the whole Mario Bros relationship. When Luigi says Mario raised him, it comes off as their parents died when Luigi was still an infant so Mario took it upon himself to raise his brother, making him a parent by proxy
