  1. This falls under the category of weird Schwarzenegger team ups, this one featuring Jim Belushi. The first 10 minutes alone feature Arnold fighting what appears to be an Asian/Latino man portraying a Russian steelworker inside a bathhouse while all combatants are only wearing what amounts to a dish towel covering their junk. Then the next scene has Arnold ripping a guy's wooden leg off to reveal that he is hiding a Tony Montana level of cocaine in it.
  2. Shit you're right, though they are pretty interchangeable with how they came out around the same time and both are god awful.
  3. I remember going to it the first couple times I went to Disneyland, the first time I was in awe basically because I was 4-5, the second time I thought it was okay, but realized it was more for younger kids. Also, I remember when this came out my younger cousins fucking LOVED this movie, to where it became their temporary new favorite that they would watch on constant loop, just after Shrek 2 and just before The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl. Interestingly, when I was looking up info on this movie I saw that it was the third Disney film based on one of their attractions, behind the TV movie Tower of Terror and the horrible Gary Sinise/Don Cheadle film Red Planet, which I didn't even realize was somehow connected to anything Disney.

How quickly do tickets normally sell out?

That was weird as hell because it finally showed up today for me and I was able to get it. I see the show is listed at running from 7-9, assuming they add another show to the night how far in advance do they list tickets for that?

How quickly do tickets normally sell out?

I tried getting tickets to the Berkeley show as it's the closest one to me and it looks sold out already, and because I can't bring a cell phone into the prison where I work for some reason, I had no way of getting onto the ticketmaster site as it' s blocked on my work computer. Damn grownup job with all its rules.

    Trailer Talk

A trailer finally came out for this Vertigo comic from a couple years ago and I'm very interested in how they handle this, especially with how good the comic was, although it does look like they will keep this dark and serious like the comic. Interesting to see Tiffany Haddish in this as it's her first dramatic role that I can recall and a period piece at that.
  7. Sorry but you forgot Hercules also had to defeat Kratos. Also I find it incredible looking at how different the careers of Ferrigno and Arnold Schwarzenegger are, consider they were fairly similar at the start. Both were Mr. Universe before going into acting, despite neither of them being able to accurately spit out their lines and both have played Hercules as one of their earlier roles, but that's where it ends as Ferrigno became a kitchy actor to hire for odd roles while Arnold became one of the biggest movie stars in history. Also in regards to the comment about not being able to pull off a plot twist in the first act of a film, I think there are a couple instances in film history where that's been able to happen, albeit with help from the films marketing, Scream being a prime example in that basically everything from the posters to the trailers would have you think that the biggest name in the film Drew Barrymore was the lead character, only to see her die in the first ten minutes of the movie. Another example would be the recent bomb Life Itself which focused promotional material on the movie being a romantic drama about Oscar Isaac and Olivia Wilde, when in actuality

    John Wick 3

I love that they announced John Wick 4 as soon as the opening box office earnings were announced. May 21, 2021 can't come soon enough.

    John Wick 3

Also I love at how much they've expanded the roles of Lance Reddick and Ian McShane over the last two films, especially Reddick who most people don't realize can be really funny. I have to assume that he just submitted this video as his audition tape and that was all they needed.

Simple just use a laser pointer like so: Then once a muscle memory and command is in place, slowly remove the pointer.

    John Wick 3

The only thing I had issue with the film was a slight continuity error involving the marker John has, because at the end of JW 2 he is handed his marker from Winston with an urging to use it to help himself, but in the opening act of JW 3, he picks it up from a hiding place that he has. That and an unintentionally funny moment where there's about a couple minute run of Halle Berry in the gunfight in the trailer, and in the course of the time, she fires her pistol, with an assumed clip of 10-12 bullets at most, literally 35 times without reloading. I started wondering if she forgot to do so, or they shot the whole run thinking that they were going to clip around it with some of Wick's scenes to create the assumption that she was reloading when we didn't see her.

    John Wick 3

I just saw it and it was FUCKING AMAZING, easily some of the best fight scenes in the series, which somehow top the insanity of past films while still not coming off as cartoonish. Another plus is that they really improved on the humor used which works surprisingly well.
  13. Many won't try now out of fear of injuring their throwing arm and while spitballers have been out of the game for a while now there are still stories of pitchers going full Eddie Harris and covering their balls in various items to give them an edge, such as Mariners pitcher Yusei Kikuchi who was caught having put what appeared to be a whole container of pine tar on the brim of his hat at a recent game.
  14. I think it's safe to say that we should add another item to the list of tropes of a bad movie, in having a couple in a movie together, because it never seems to work at best and is an utter disaster at worst, with rare exception. You have Getaway with Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger, Ben Affleck and JLO in Gigli and Jersey Girl, Affleck and Jennifer Garner in Daredevil, By the Sea with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Kristen Bell and Dax Shephard in Hit and Run, and many more.

    Avengers: Endgame *SPOILERS*

Yeah the ending involving Cap reminds me of the Denzel Washington film Deja Vu, wherein it's revealed over the course of the movie he's time traveled at least three times in order to prevent a terrorist attack from happening, he just doesn't realize it because his double is out of sight from him. This logic would work for Endgame in that Cap could be married to Peggy while still be unfrozen to lead the Avengers in the 2010s, but it doesn't explain what then happened to her entire history with her family unless in Winter Soldier was Old Cap hiding from Young Cap, or the fact that the biggest war hero of WWII all of a sudden was just hanging out after the war was over, I'm assuming someone in SHIELD like Coulson would have wondered how Cap could be unfrozen but also have been living in America from after the war until present time. In the end it's still not fully sitting well with the attempt at making rules while somewhat abiding by old rules and

But I didn't mention anything about what the twist entailed in Captain Marvel and Mysterio has only been known as a villain in Spider-Man comics for the last 55 years, plus with MCU fans there is a certain formula to how their casts are used in solo films. Plus this is really my theory at the moment as the movie hasn't come out yet, and like I stated I wouldn't be surprised one way or another with how they go with it.

    Ghost Ship (2002)

The computer one is Virus with Jamie Lee Curtis and one of the Baldwins, the upside down one is I'm guessing Poseidon, and the tentacle is Deep Rising. All three great bad movies and each worthy of their own episode. That and the scene where Isaiah Washington falls to his death when he tries to buttfuck a female ghost, he literally watches her appear out of thin air and then falls through her as she bends over the open door of an elevator shaft. How else did he think that was going to play out?

    Trailer Talk

I like the multiverse talk, but I just can't take it serious yet considering the info appears to be coming from Mysterio, who became a villain when it was revealed he faked all of his amazing fights and villains using movie magic/special effects. Now I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't another MCU twist in this like in Captain Marvel, but I'm leaning more to it sticking with comic lore given they've teased no other A-list name in this film unless it's somehow revealed Happy Hogan is behind it all.

    Avengers: Endgame *SPOILERS*

I don't know so much about readership but they do get royalties from purchase through various library vendors, which really helps if they get a run on demand, such as how I'll be waiting a year probably before my library gets its order of the first two volumes of The Umbrella Academy now that the show has come out.

    Avengers: Endgame *SPOILERS*

I started the Leftovers a year ago but got caught up in other things so I plan on going back to it. Though I don't think the novel was too inspired by the comics as Thanos did what he did in the original Gauntlet series to bang Lady Death, which is what was teased in the end credits for Avengers 1, but changed to a more philosophical reason in Infinity War. I would love to see them adapt the recent Infinity Wars storyline for the screen, though they could easily replace Gamora, who is now back in the universe, with Black Widow who's apparently trapped in the Soul Stone realm now. It would be an amazing reveal for the Marvel heroes to go at it with the new big bad for the reveal to be a newly returned Widow, looking to further alter shit after realizing her sacrifice and being stuck in that realm might not have been the wisest choice. As for supporting the comics industry, if you can't spend the money yourself to buy comics, there is always the library. I have a sizeable budget each year to buy graphic novels for the collection at where I work and those are either based on my reading habits or what requests I receive from patrons. It's now led to us doing our own comic convention which this year will have over fifty artists/writers/sellers, which I will say is a blast to do but a fucking nightmare to put together, I can't even imagine the work that goes into the bigger shows like SDCC or WonderCon.

    Avengers: Endgame *SPOILERS*

Since time travel is fake though you can make up the rules as you see them or break them as you see them, which is what they were doing by calling BTF untrue, but then following the rules of it when they went back in time (not running into past selves, making huge changes), so it was weird that after all that Steve goes fuck it and just rearranges 70 years of history. I have seen some theories that it's not Peggy he's married to but that he managed to bring back Black Widow from the time stream and that's who he was with, also leading to why Banner couldn't bring her back to the present because she had already been brought back to the past. I am now a bit more interested in the Black Widow movie, which I believe is supposed to be out as the last MCU movie for 2020 or the first for 2021, while The Eternals is starting filming in three months so that should be coming out next year, while Black Panther 2 is looking to come out 2021 along with Doctor Strange 2 being another likely film for that year, Guardians 3 in 2022 at the earliest, then Shang Chi has no timeline yet as they are still finding a cast and crew for it. Seeing as though that's only half of the movies that could be in this Phase given the recent release record of Marvel, I expect there to be a Captain Marvel 2, and possibly a Captain America/Winter Soldier film, along with the recent properties Disney got, which does include Fantastic Four. With Tony grabbing the stones, if I recall, he uses both hands to grab Thano's gauntlet and it's his right hand that ends up with the stones. After the years of seeing the various ways Tony has created suits that form around his body, I wouldn't be surprised if he had a pickpocket mode built into one for this such occasion, akin to Spider-Man's suit that has 1,000 different modes that he can use at any moment. I was irked by Nebula killing her past self because that just creates the offshoot reality that the Ancient One was warning against, and even having past Gamora running around in the present is more of those same issues. I have heard rumors that Marvel might be setting up The Maestro as a big bad, given that there is smart Hulk now, which could be interesting given that they really haven't given Hulk a standalone film since Phase 1. I also wondered about all of the people who came back, like how do you go about normal life after being gone for five years and you know why you were gone? They apparently haven't aged so Hawkeye is now five years older than when they last saw him, and then you have the people who come back but find out that their loved ones either died over the course of the five year gap, or via survivor's guilt killed themselves. As far as the rat goes, that I liked because of the randomness of the universe, it would most likely be an animal or something falling on the machine to reactivate it. My one big question was regarding when the people came back, what is there reaction to seeing how everyone that lived just said screw it and apparently didn't pick up a single piece of trash in the ensuing five years.

    Sonic the Hedgehog (2019)

While the quick peek at him with the goggles and mustache was a nice touch, I doubt they are putting him in a fat suit to give him a similar build to the character in the game. And considering this looks like a case of "Sonic is sent to our dimension and chased by Robotnik" which somehow is done through the rings which create portals, I'll be amazed if this breaks even. They are really banking on nostalgia for the original games to sell this movie, but the overall story seems to be of the shitty early 2000s entries in the series where Sonic would be in actual cities, shoot guns, and ride motorcycles, which is mind boggling of the highest order.
  23. I don't know what the makers of this movie were smoking but holy shit does this look perfect for HDTGM. Not only are they making a movie that up until recently was seen as a series that was a shell of its former self, but they seem to have made it based off of the stories of some of the more whacked out horrible Sonic games that tried to make the games something more than "run fast in scenic locations and save cute animals from evil robot scientist." Also the fact that they try to make Sonic with an oddly human face is just discomforting, especially the teeth. For some reason it works for Detective Pikachu because they still appear kind of cartoonish, but this seems to be like they were going for something different, and it just doesn't sit well with me.

    Sonic the Hedgehog (2019)

Yeah I think if they lean it a bit more towards a cartoon rather than an attempt at a real animal, it would help. I do wonder why Gangster's Paradise was chosen as the trailer song, originally thinking the song was released the same year as one of the first couple Sonic games but it wasn't, so it's just an incredibly random song that really doesn't connect with anything shown in the trailer.

    Trailer Talk

It's trailers like this that remind me that Luc Besson could make some amazing action films with female leads, but it also reminds me that Lucy had a similar action-filled trailer before I realized in the theater watching it that it was an utter brainfart. I really hope Anna is more like La Femme Nikita instead of Lucy.
