  1. Agreed Scozzie, you are not being intolerant with your comments. Glad we have common ground now. I can add that intolerance wouldn't only be stopping someone to work in a certain field - it could also mean censoring, jailing, physical harm, and probably other things I'm forgetting at the moment, but I know that you know what I meant. (And you know that I know that you know...) In closing, I'm glad we didn't need the Score Settler to decide this one. The people that I originally came on here to respond to, probably aren't coming back anyway, so I guess the rest of us can agree to mostly agree but partly disagree. Good talking with you.
  2. Scozzie I see your point but in your scenario you are misinterpreting my definition of tolerance - please see above. (Not saying you didn't read or understand my last post, just that we were both probably posting at the same time earlier.) To what you posted though, how is Adam not being tolerant of the beliefs of liberals? I didn't hear any political talk in the episode (liberal or conservative). And he certainly doesn't aim to silence, censor, or stop anyone from doing anything. The other thing I can reiterate towards my point, is the words "racism, sexism, homophobia" were used rather freely. Again I'm not trying to be difficult or stand-offish but the throwing around of these words is what I don't get.
  3. Hi Lukas, thanks for the comment asking for clarification. I actually don't grant the premise that Adam was being intolerant. Some may think that, but no one yet explained what exactly he is being intolerant of when he joked that gays and Jewish women came up with a Houston Texans 1961 AFC Champions t-shirt. You can hear that joke and think, "Meh, not funny," and thats' a matter of taste. But it's not intolerant. Contrast that with something like, "Jewish women or gays should not be allowed to manufacture clothing." That would be intolerance, as it imples we should not tolerate those groups being allowed to work in that field. I think sometimes words like "bigot, racist, homophobic, intolerant," etc., get thrown around too much and it does a disservice to the times it is truly happening. Like a lot of things in life, if we do it too much it loses its meaning or we risk being tuned out. I am unbiased as I have followed the Sklars going all the way back to Cheap Seats, and enjoy listening to Adam Carolla as well, but I just wish there wasn't such a rush to name-calling.
  4. What I meant is, tolerance goes both ways, as it is unfair to rip someone who has different beliefs that you do, while claiming tolerance yourself. I am moderate but I would like to see fairness and civility from all sides.
  5. Great episode SuperSklars! Good stories, nice debut for Chris Cox playing Joe Walsh, would love to hear him again...and Carolla was hilarious. I don't quite understand all the hate and intolerance for Adam on this board but oh well, haters gonna hate I suppose.

    Episode 104.5 — Sklarbro County 9

Great show guys. I really needed a break from the serious topics of the week...maybe you sensed this need, or maybe it just happened to work out this way with what you had been preparing to do anyway, but either way, just what the Skloctor ordered. I loved the lightness and fun of the Keyshawn wine and Disneyland freeloaders stories, and getting in trouble with the wife over Australian hurdler Michelle Jenneke. Perfect topics for the summa!
