Loved this episode! Hearing Zouks make pretending with the others was a great bonus, as was the remarkable and mysterious Mr. Bobbles. I had a few loud laffs at this, especially during the delightfully nutty Vietnam sequence. Hearing about NYSU being cancelled was a bit of a blow, but I do hope we get more collaborations between the Henson guys and PFT. -

Despite being a sad from the Deep South, I have somehow become way too familiar with the Improv scene of the Midwest, because I recognized at least two of those names*. * it was Brad Knight and Aaron Yonda, who I know from Beer and Board Games - fun thinking of them knowing Chris and Mark back in the day -

What's that "doodly doo that's all" riff that Eban played at the end of the story? Cuz it was hilarious. -
Nancy Walker is indeed the quicker picker upper lady, but I have not the knowledge to post a youtube video demonstrating this fact. Suffice to say, she was "Rosie", who owned a diner where real dumb and clumsy customers would constantly spill stuff all over her place. Lucky for them, Rosie always had some Bounty paper towels at hand, and she'd clean up while lecturing them about how great the towels were.

This episode justified my parents' thousands spent on sending me to art school. -
Isn't Nancy Walker the lady who did those "quicker picker upper" commercials?

Episode 73 - Will Hines: Podbury High with Bill Bines

Was Tilda in Blue Jasmine? It seems like the kinda movie she'd be in. (Checked: Nope guess not) This and episodes like Neil Campbell's tap into a certain kind of hilarious self-loathing that really hits home. Will portrays the sadness with great understatement, and Lauren picks up on it perfectly. -

Very late to the party, but I just want to agree with everybody that this was one of the all-time best episodes, and Nicole was a fantastic guest.

Of course Chris Tallman threw in some D&D references in his were-guy description. -
I guess one might say that Jason got his Massachusetts locations Ipswitched. Sorry.

I'm of the right age to share Jason's appreciation of former child star Jennifer Connelly. I was around 12 or 13 when Labyrinth came out, and as a 16 or 17 year old comic book nerd I was one of three people who saw The Rocketeer in theaters and fell further in love/lust with her. I still hold a sad-nobody-candle for her, even if her character's fate in Requiem for a Dream traumatized me. Drew Barrymore seems like a pretty classic choice for child stars gone hot. I thought of her in a non-creepy way as the adorable little Gertie from E.T. for a long time, but around 1993 it got confusing. Her real life struggles and her ability to overcome them have just made me appreciate her all the more. Oh, and Winnie Cooper (Danica McKellar) from Wonder Years. I wonder how she turned out? (disappears after google search)

This movie was Brutal.

What is going on with Guzman's mom's old photo? Is she draped in a black smock with Elaine Stritch glasses and a mop on her head?

Episode 49 - Universal Studios Hollywood

What a beautiful nonsense train this was! -
I totally got my wires crossed about how Moms and Dads work! It does raise a bunch of other questions, though, like if Dick Sargent is the source of Luis' magic genes, how the heck did he end up marrying a woman who looks almost exactly like 1600's Melody Miller? Was it destiny? Was it a coincidence? Will every daughter of the Miller clan end up being a witchy woman?
-
Speaking of the Salem Witches 17th Century Yearbook... "magick majorum new faces 1652" Can't make out some of the text on the captions here, but here's my current guesses, working clockwise from the top-left page near the fold: "Constance Harrison Hung for Demon [unintelligible] (potions?)" "Serena Alcott 1610-1652 Burned at the stake - Salem, Mass. [unintelligible] Black Magic and Sorcery" "Modesty Miller Born 1636 - Unknown Questioned and released in regard to possession [unintelligible] (&?) use of articles of sorcery and witchcraft." "Sarah Burke [unintelligible]" "Hope Reed Died 1634 [unintelligible] to being [unintelligible]" [the rest is unintelligible]" "Nathan Cole [unintelligible] hung [unintelligible] [more unintelligible text]" So, Modesty Miller is the Luis Guzman of the past. The, uh, photo depicted seems to be the actress who played her mother with a different hairdo. According to the caption, she was taken in for questioning and released, but Serena Alcott (Zelda Rubenstein) was burned at the goddamn stake. It looks like all of the other witches on the page were gruesomely killed during the as well, which leads me to a theory* - Luis was a SNITCH! She sold her coven down the river and fled, allowing her to come back later! Or maybe she was immortal and eventually married Dick Sargent? * This ties into another dumb theory I had watching the movie, which was that Serena was just manipulating Luis for her own ends and then planned to get her revenge on her...but alas, that was not to be and instead we get the "Luis gets what she wants sans consequences" ending at the prom.

I kinda hated this movie. I feel like not having cable TV or any friends with it resulted in me not being able to enjoy a lot of the '80s teen movies Teen Witch wants to be now that I'm an adult. All it reminds me of is all the people I didn't get along with in high school. If you want some context on my high school experience, check out my avatar pic: I was pretty far behind the Brad-curve, though if Hats asked me out I woulda been thrilled.

Watched this movie today. Am I wrong thinking the message we're meant to take away is "Be Popular"?

My favorite random number is 898421. Please do not use it without my permission. Also: Gary Anthony Williams! I've been a fan of his ever since I used to listen to the old Liquid Radio Players shows online. Great addition to the make 'em ups team. -

(i know toilet island turned out to be one giant toilet people were flushed down, but it was too late to change this by the time i got to that part of the show) -
I loved this movie, un-ironically. I don't know if its particularly good, mind you, but the visuals, music, and style really hit me hard as a kid when I saw it on local TV. There's little to no logic to the plot and essentially 0 character development - sort of trademarks of Walter Hill, honestly - but the mishmash of B-movie nonsense hit my subconscious in a good way.
