EPISODE 4 - Savannah, Georgia
Mathey replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
I lived in Savannah for about a year and can vouch that the accents in this are 100% accurate. -
EPISODE 22 — Joe Wengert: The California Supreme WinShow

Lauren tossing Joe under the bus when he prompted her about the eyeglasses was dee-lightful. -

Mathey replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
I kinda love that the esteemed Mr. Tompkins is listed as a "newbie" on the forum software. -

For me, it was the casual dismissal of addiction as disease that bugged me. I'm not an addict, but I've experienced withdrawal from doctor-prescribed happy pills and it was an absolute nightmare. "I" was still present during the hours of hallucinations, vomiting, diarrhea, and suicidal despair, but the crushing sensations and bad input I was receiving meant all I could do was lie in bed and cry. I know that even when I'm feeling good about my decisions, as well, they can be influenced by a ton of things I'm not consciously aware of. Its always hard placing blame for why we human beings do what we do any time you get into issues of free will, brain functions, biochemistry, etc. You don't want to use your disease as a crutch, but you also cannot be expected to simply will yourself to stop behaving irrationally from time to time. Anyway, having vented on the internet - Kickpuncher has a point; this is meant to be a diverting and entertaining discussion with non-experts leading the chat - taking anything they say as a personal attack takes you down a bad road.

Not to be too controversial, but I like this podcast a lot.

This is real sad and strange and confusing. I was feeling sorry for myself and listening to old U Talkin' U2 to Me podcasts to try and sleep and then I saw the news. I tried writing something on this board and Scott Aukerman was joking on the podcast I was listening to about how, if they died after the episode was release, he hoped people would hear how happy he, Adam Scott, and PFT were goofing around...I don't know. He was 30 and had already done so much.

EPISODE 20 — LIVE from SF Sketchfest
Mathey replied to JulyDiaz's topic in U Talkin' Talking Heads 2 My Talking Head
Sally was pretty great. As was Scott's faux-infuriation at her preference for Scott. "Kick rocks, Bitch!" -
If you approach Face/Off as an extension of John Woo's Hong Kong blood opera films, its pretty arty. Admittedly, its an overblown and melodramatic sort of arty, but that's opera for you.

Its kinda beautiful that this podcast can encompass a discussion about Ikiru and a man-child rubbing his dick/umbilical cord on a girl's boobs.

Episode 163 — Eric the Paid Intern Returns: LIVE at the UCBSunset
Mathey replied to JulyDiaz's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
I'd recommend putting my home state of Louisiana in place of Mississippi if it wouldn't also feel like kicking a puppy. We're consistently 49th to Mississippi's 50th on those lists Matt mentioned, current governor Bobby Jindal is hilariously embarrassing in his national ambitions, and among our other feats people almost elected a former KKK Grand Wizard as governor back in the '90s. On the upside we have good food and music and I think New Orleans is a redeeming feature as well. I seem to recall there being a guy from/in Louisiana who called in regarding this question in a past Thank You Mississippi or Case Closed? I can't even remember if he was trying to defend our poor neighbors or not, but it was a reminder of how linked we are in our sadness. Poverty, racism and bad infrastructure have been kicking our asses for decades. Personally, I'd prefer Florida to get the treatment next. I visit relatives there and am always amused/horrified by how the interstate billboards alternate between ads for strip clubs and crazy right wing religious groups. As far as Case Closed, I am usually a big mopey puss about hearing Master Blaster Matt incinerate the opposing arguments and don't enjoy the awkwardness very much. I get weird Eric-level anxiety about the whole thing. Its easy enough to skip through, though, and the resulting scenes can be good. Conversely I've enjoyed the musical episodes a lot, both for the exposure to new artists and the scenes and discussion surrounding the songs. Its usually a more upbeat vibe and goes fun places. See the amazing Atlantis scene for one good example. -
Episode 2 — The Betsy Podcast
Mathey replied to JulyDiaz's topic in With Special Guest Lauren Lapkus
Another delightful episode! Betsy's poem on the Andy Daly podcast is still one of my favorite Earwolf moments ever. -
This was fantastic. Loved hearing Jason and June join Paul for the Q&As. I'd pay actual money* if Jason did a weekly segment called "Speakin' Greek to Me". * i m unemployed
