EPISODE 613 - Jewish Dudes Who Love Hip-Hop
JamesCrackCorn replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Yo, Is This Racist?
I'm so glad Andrew took this caller. I also hate it when Jewish people enjoy and have opinions on hip hop. -
EPISODE 598 - Success of Run the Jewels
JamesCrackCorn replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Yo, Is This Racist?
I was being sarcastic, which doesn't always come across in writing. I felt like Jewish people were portrayed as cultural outsiders in this episode and was trying to highlight the absurdity of that. Yo, that was casual antisemitism -

Because white Jewish guys are supposed to hate rap music and feel left out. That's why the Beastie Boys were never able to gain a real following. -

Though many will focus on the burgeoning sexuality, I think the real romantic tension of the film is between the murderer and his automobile. I'm glad that they touched on that in the podcast.

Thank you so much for recommending this film. I just watched it and loved it. I would never have guessed how much I would enjoy watching a mulleted never nude run around murdering people. -

Episode 221 — The 2 Broke Girls Writers' Room

I think that is an interesting point on whether satire should be viewed as harmful based on its perception rather than its intention. I'm sure there are people who see Sunny as a sincere declaration of belief. -
Episode 221 — The 2 Broke Girls Writers' Room
JamesCrackCorn replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Yo, Is This Racist?
I think that in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, there is an element of satire that isn't present in 2 Broke Girls. When a character is being racist in Sunny, I think the joke is the racism rather than the character's intended target. In 2 Broke Girls, when a character says, "You can't tell an asian he's made a mistake, he'll go in the back and throw himself on a sword," ( ) the joke is on the Asian character and, by extension, Asians in general. I have only seen two episodes of 2 Broke Girls, but restaurant owner seems to exist solely as a place mark for Asian stereotypes.
