EPISODE 354 — Solo Bolo: Dos Lo

MEJ was Sparks Nevada on that ep. It was other guy from thrilling adventure hour. Someone posted it. I don't know how to spell it. I can't see it while I type. Such a tiny, tiny screen.
  2. Zach Woods is so understated and awkward in his acting roles I forget how hilarious he is at improv. He kind of sneaks up and steals the scenes b/c he's not bombastic like Ian and Besser often are--yet he drops the most clever phrases/timing/plot choices like a bomb and leaves.
  3. May I recommend starting with the eps where he and a guest and engineer(s) make a song live on the spot in 20 minute from scratch? They're self contained, hilarious, and downright impressive.
  4. Lol Ian sounds like a dude that just did coke for the first time.

    21 SUE MESSING with Me.

Uh I was defending you (and the show) bro. How could I like Besser and hate Horatio? Horatio is OG UCB.
  6. There's been a lot of people in the forums lately that just happen to find pertinent feral audio podcasts to link to. Dustin, the jig is up.

    21 SUE MESSING with Me.

"associated with the Annoyance Theater" That explains her problem. I4H people know what i'm talking about.
  8. When Besser immediately threw it to Wengert I was already having a laugh-seizure just in anticipation.
  9. It's like the last supper. Lennon is clearly space jesus.

    EPISODE 353 — Goodbye Reggie!

Neil is more of a humorist. Like a David Sedaris type. And I say that as a compliment b/c I love the entire Sedaris family. And good humor. Bars. And good humor. The kind that's not candy. Is this the Hollywood Handbook forum?
  11. Yes 100% agree. I was going to reply to those other posts that Maron kind of has the same qualities yet keeps it funny and smart. I guess it comes down to Maron being self-aware like you said.
  12. Mohr has always been a dick bag. Did you not listen to the WTF with Bobcat? Mohr ran off with Bobcat's wife. They tear into him pretty good.
  13. Just treat Doug the angry trumpet guy as another absurd improv character. I don't see why he pisses people off.
  14. Jay Mohr is one of those guys in a castle tower like dane cook and carrot top. They go on about how they're cool and a lone wolf, but it's really b/c other comedians hate/shun them.

    EPISODE 352 — Scrunchy Face

Nowhere did I say politicians should be off limits. And I wasn't defending Al Gore. He was simply the first example that came to mind. I think George Bush got a bit of this effect, too. My point was that impressions can diminish a person without expressly attacking their ideology. Which the person I replied to said was not the case.
  16. lol that video on his website that's just pictures of him and famous people. Like that gives him any authority. That's what I like about UCB. They're not all OMG look how famous we, or are alumni, are. In fact, it's the opposite--every UCB thing I see is promoting their unknown but upcoming students. Even the most famous UCB people just get in the room and do the work.
  17. No I doubt besser gets any of that. I'm sure meta humor and irony go right over the father of modern improvs head.

    20 Kattan's in the Cradle

I'm surprised there's not more comments. Best episode yet. Kattan has such delightfully weird energy.
  19. Wow. Hines, Still and WENGERT!? And case closed and angry trumpet guy???? Can't wait.

EPISODE 3 - Neil Casey - Spotlight On: Mr. Jordache

It's a horrible bastard child. The only reason anyone uses it is because Next/Jobs had to be different. Even Apple is looking for a way out i.e. Swift.

    EPISODE 352 — Scrunchy Face

Turning a person into a cartoonish impression (and comedic impressions are cartoonish by definition) only serves to diminish them and, by extension, their ideas. James doesn't have to explicitly ridicule his ideas, his caricaturish brand of comedy does it for him. Al Gore as a politician was completely invalidated not by ridiculing his policy or campaign but simply by people like James making "I invented the internet" type impersonations.
